Ever since anyone has created anything, somebody else has decreed it crap / samey / old fashioned etc etc. And it's seemingly apparent in the pop world that when a new sound/writer has a big hit, suddenly half of the rest of the chart are trying to replicate that formula. Or rehash the same song with different lyrics and claim it's a new one......
If you're determined to make music to only please other people you're going to be end up fed up and disillusioned.
I appreciate that we all hope that other people will dig our own stuff but you don't have control over that.
Make the stuff you enjoy making. If others like it too, see that as a bonus, not as a necessity.
