I love the DM-1. It’s nice to just play with a drum machine as the entire focus every now and then.
I tend to use it like a game. Just sit and make patterns, most of which go nowhere but every now and then I Chuck something into BlocsWave for future projects. Have had quite a few dm loops end up in songs.
One thing I like to do with the DM1 is load it into AUM, start recording and then switch back to the Dm-1 and mess about with the fx and stuff. The fx in DM-1 are a lot of fun, and playing with the XY pad with fx like ‘formant’ and ‘robotised’ can make some interesting sounds I don’t get easily elsewhere. If anything cool comes out of it I chop some loops into 4 or 8 bar chunks and import them into BlocsWave.
It’d be nice as an auv3 for sure but it’s one of the few non auv3s I keep around as I’ve just always liked making patterns with it. Dead simple and so quick to jump in.
