    Hi!
I’ve been looking around at it seems like you can’t midi map auv3 plugin parameters.
    Midi learn auv3 plugins
I wonder why it’s not possible. If you can record a parameter movement and edit it on a automation lane, you should be able to map the controller to that automation lane... Does that make sense?. I mean I understand it might not be possible to directly map a controller to an on screen auv3, but once the automation is recorded it should be feasible to do the mapping within Cubasis. From controller to automation lane. So you should be able to midi map a control to the automation lane.

That‘s the way how Zenbeats solved AU Midi learn. Not beautiful but effective and a feasible approach. But Zenbeats offers another way that is also not beautiful but effective: You can toggle between the AU user interface and a generic parameter view where each exposed parameter is a slider and you Midi learn in that view. I even prefer this as you do not have to record anything prior to map it. Anyway, either solution is better than nothing.

Yep. Yet Zenbeats can’t record onscreen auv3 tweaking… Weird how things are missing dependng on the daw. I really like how you can tweak an auv3 UI in Cubasis, miles better than the Zenbeats exposed parameters, but can’t midi map… I don’t get it.

Why is Ableton Link not included in this beauty.. holding back because of that… Multiple iPads sessions are the future… linked with AL…

Try this, works really well and will sync CB3 midi clock out with Link:

I can not manage to set this up well. Tempo and sync is changing constantly. It was better with AB3-CB3-AUM, although also really working. Its not on the beat. How did you do it? Let’s say syncing CB3 and AUM.

Of course enable midi sync in CB3 and Link in AUM, then setup Midi Link Sync like on pic below.
Start CB3 transport will send midi clock to Midi Link Sync, which will sync Link/AUM. You can use the bottom slider for offset compensation (I use metronome in both CB3 and AUM and sync them by ear while moving the slider). Keep in mind that there are some limitations: AUM transport is not synced, so you have to start it manually; and when you start CB3 while AUM is running first bar played in AUM will drift (slower) then will be synced with CB3. So anticipate this if making AUM recordings in CB3 (using punch in/out + 1 bar pre roll for example).

EDIT : note that apeMatrix works extremely well with CB3 as IAA input with IAA tempo/transport sync so no need for Midi Link Sync. But you will need a powerful device as ApeM is much heavier on ressources than AUM. And it’s not the same workflow exactly, of course.

    Hi @RajahP,

Mainly due to the technical costs, but it's still on our list and we hope to be able to support it at some point in the future.

    Best,
    Lars

    Good idea 👏 indeed

I’m in for the Ableton Link IAP.. And, I will buy V3 also..😎

  • Hmmm, I often have audio clips that will suddently mute (the track is not muted and the other clips on it are still audible. Closing the app and restarting it resolves the problem. Does anybody else have this problem?

  • Cubasis 3 REALLY needs a search box for Au fxs, or I need to uninstall some of them 😅

  • ok stupid question: there still isn't any way to do a "repeat" of a clip like in garageband, is there?! Like when I have a clip that is repeated a few times and I edit the first one, all the following "repeats" will be edited as well?

The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Hi @LFS I've noticed that external MIDI out timing is bad (it “stumbles”) when the playback position loops.

The specific setup is Cubasis 3.3.1, iPad 8 with iPad OS 14.6, USB3 CCK, ESi M4UeX MIDI interface/hub, Audient Evo 4 audio, Kenton Pro2 MIDI/CV.

    Is anyone else experiencing this?

  • Is there a way to map mute/solo buttons to toggles? Seems to take momentary behaviour by default.

  • @LFS I've explored the MIDI learn as deeply as I can with the manual and while it's good, it seems like there are a few very simple usability tweaks that'll make it much more powerful.

    1. Selector for 'momentary/toggle' when mapping on/off parameters.
    2. A 'stop at 0db' selector for faders would be nice to get more fine resolution out of MIDI faders (so a cc of 127 would be 0db). I would never really push a fader up to +12, or even +6 db as I'd have gain staged the volume into a 0db max in the effects process.

Can anyone advise me if there's an official channel to submit Cubasis feature requests?

Best do that at Steinberg‘s Cubasis forum. Here is a link that points to the desired bug report form.

Has anyone used the audio clip centre volume handle? My wife has recorded vocal parts at 2 different times today and the gain between afternoon and evening takes isn’t well matched… i normalised to bring up the quieter level from the later take, but the volume handle doesn’t seem to do anything! Fade in at the start of the clip does work btw. (@LFS)

Would be quite handy if the audio editor provided a variable gain function.

(I will fix the level in Auditor…)

PS using Airdrop to share a project back and forth has been absolutely smooth, wouldn’t be able to do that with a computer instead of 2 x iPad!

  • stupid question and I might just not know what the right term is to google this... Can the mini sampler not use a sample and pitch shift it for neighboring keys? do I have to record a sample for every single key if I want to create an instrument?

You can extend the range for one sample to cover the entire keyboard.

ahh, you can drag that marker around to extend the range, I hadn't realized that, thanks!
