I expect his shot to improve dramatically. See Lonzo Ball recently, Jay Kidd, Rondo, V Carter, etc. A shot always always always improves with time especially for players who actually want to improve it which he does. His understanding of the game is freakish for 21 and he knows range is important for where the game is going. Took Lonzo 3 seasons to fix his shot, Kidd a bit longer but he retired among the NBAs all time 3pt leaders.

Not everyone can improve their shooting—eg, Westbrook.

That’s technically true but the fact is, Westbrook has improved his shooting in several seasons in his career but he has never been committed to it so he regresses in other seasons because he is a stat chaser. I love Westbrook but everyone knows he’s more concerned with triple double records than winning which is why he has been shipped around.

Ja Morant has already improved his 3 ball by 3 percentage points over last year because he is committed to the work. He’s 21. At this rate, he will be a marksman in next year or the year after.

Don’t take my word for it...ask Steph and Steve. They dared him to shoot the other night and he sent them home with great shooting and all around great play from inside and out. He’s a flat out stud and light years ahead of where Westbrook was at his age in fact there isn’t a GM in the league that would trade Morant for Westbrook. In other words, he’s better than him already.

    It isn’t even close.

    Morant is a beast
He’s not a triple double machine like Mr. Westbrook though... yet

I’ve been liking that youngest Ball brother, Lamelo. Kid has some nice moves

I just want a team to win that hasn’t ina long time, or a player get a trophy who deserves it. Like Utah with Mike Conley for example or Phoenix suns.

Can’t stand the Lakers, lol or this super team, super friends league stuff.

I use to watch the Warriors play at Oracle a lot back in the day when I had family in the Bay Area.

Morant’s 3 is worse this year compared to last .30 vs .33

Wrong on why Westbrook was shipped around. And you’re free to share the opinion of many others on Westbrook’s stat chasing, but he’s still an all-time great, an amazing playmaker and the best PG rebounder of all time. You can’t even call the triple doubles stat chasing here lately, because he is shattering the assists and rebound marks (and what do you know, it coincided with the Wizards going on a tear).

Westbrook has a record of 136-45 in games in which he records a triple-double.

That’s pretty outstanding. Still, the truth is we all know hoops fans measure winning (as it relates to all time greats) in terms of championships.

I’m not hating on Russ...I’m just suggesting triple doubles, aside from recording history...isn’t very important as it relates to the ultimate goal which is a 🏆.

Notice how all of the other players on the all time trip dub list are Champions. Were they trying to get trip dub record or trying to win 🏆?

Let me try it this way....if Russ traded his trip dub crowns for shooting 37-40% from 3, and 85% from the FT line wouldnt he be a greater player and more impactful to a winning team?

Of course he would. So why hasn’t he done it?

    Oh he has?

Ironically, the period in his career where Russ was on real contending teams was when he improved his FT and 3pt shooting.

That’s the point I’m trying to make. Trip dubs are cute...but they don’t mean very much past individual praise. If Russ were more committed to winning a 🏆, I think it’s pretty obvious what he would need to do. History says he knows what to do he just hasn’t been very interested or committed to doing it again.

I don’t care to retread the Russell Westbrook argument, you’re gonna feel how you feel. But he has never shot better than .343 from 3. OKC was a serious contender every year from 2011-2016, only derailed by injuries to Russ, Durant, and once Ibaka. But if Russ shot 40% from three, the only reason he wouldn’t be the greatest player of all time would be because of his low-effort defense.

And it’s silly, but if you’ve ever read about him, he is a borderline ocd about his routines and preparation. His free throws tanked when they stopped allowing players to walk back to halfcourt after the shot in hopes of speeding up the game. That was part of his routine and it has never recovered. I will agree that he probably no longer (and never really did) works on his shot enough.

Well, I got sucked in but I can’t help myself. He gets piled on way too much for not being a very smart basketball player. Yes, he can be maddening, but if you don’t want him, great. I’ll take him on my team every day.

That’s the long and the short of it!

    Jordan
    Ginobili
    Westbrook

Are the most entertaining players I’ve ever seen. Jokic is creeping up to that 4 spot very quickly.

I’m a little too young to really remember him, except for his short ‘96 comeback as a power forward. He was what got me into basketball as a very young kid. It’s weird, I got into him for like a week and then he got HIV. Boy was that a huge story.

  • Been a die hard Mavs fan for the last 20 years so getting Dirk for all those years and now crossfading into Luka has been amazing.

It’s gonna be Nets vs Jazz in finals if both teams remain healthy 🙏🏼💕

  • But where are the Warriors?

The Lillard was jaw-dropping. Not the first time, probably won’t be the last. Sucks that he or Jokic is going home early. Amazing game though.

Now for the Grizz to steal one more against the Jazz. Conley’s been a monster. I miss Mike. Love Ja, but I can’t yet get over 12 years of fandom.

  • Rooting for the Jazz to go all the way, but Mitchell worries me a bit. He can explode or he can shoot them right out of it with an 8-31 night.
