    Smoking fast is good fast.

  • Also…. My magic keyboard works fine with this and it closes ok to me!!

The general consensus of the reviews I’ve seen is that the old Magic Keyboard works just fine with the new iPads. Apple’s initial warning seems to have been overcautious.

    I only have one word…

    Jelly!

Seriously though, congrats! My old 2018 Pro 11” is only 64GB and I’ve managed to get by with it, but man oh man how i’d love a newer one! 1TB?? Daaaaaaaang I can’t even imagine having that much storage space in iPadOS!

Yes. I am so glad as this keyboard is only 6 months old. I am having no issues with it.

Dude. I got tired of juggling the space…. Now I can throw my 400-500 gig of samples local and Boom!!!

  • Which iPad did you upgrade from? Many of the preliminary reviews are saying it’s not as blazing fast as they expected. Or, not as much as a step up from the previous non-M1 iPads.

I found this surprising because my mini M1 16gb is pretty snappy

Does the old 12.9 smart keyboard work with it though? Congrats though! Definitely envious of the space! Your iCloud storage needs are gonna skyrocket too tho lol

  • NicE! I went with the 11" keyboard because the 12.9 was too topsy tippy over for me. Wish they put the XDR on the 11" ...really strange choice to only add it to the 12.9"...if you ask me.

Keeping an eye on the new ones. My 10.5 pro might be getting long in the tooth… though, I haven’t really noticed any issues. Battery still good too. Only slow thing is ML uprez in pixelmator photo

    This sounds so amazingly liberating!

  • Congrats 😊. Have you done the “moog model D test” ?

  • got mine  iPad Pro 129 1TB yesterday, did some testing-the performance is simply outstanding-32 audio tracks, partly in stereo, all with a lot of resource-hungry effects like on each track (!) https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/mixbox/ , Moog Models etc-compared to my iPad Pro 129 from 2019 simply outstanding

Yes Gavin it works like a champ. No issues.

  • I actually literally tried this myself in the App Store today. I’m talking about the Smart Keyboard, not the Magic Keyboard.. it does fit, it does work and I was able to type, but one of the back corners is slightly off due to the new design of the cameras. So the Smart Keyboard fits but I would worry that it wouldn’t be stable in a fall, and wonder if it would cause problems over time

Not yet…. Still slowing installing my apps as I desire.. its so funny how many freaking apps I buy (blames Gavinski) . But I don’t use over half these anymore, but I’m like a hoarder.. can’t get rid of them I better install it, one day I might use it. LOL

I’ll take that blame and wear it, somewhat guiltily, as a badge of pride!

  • It’s insanely fast! Fingers crossed apple will lift the 5 GB RAM Limitation next weeks

What do you mean!? The new iPads have 8Gb (the 1-2TB ones 16Gb). Are you saying there are some restriction built in? Tried to google but could only find stuff about older macs.

  • 16 GB available here on my 1TB model

It was not about 'total amount of device memory' but how much an app can allocate ;)

  • Are there any xGB-per-app memory limits on the M1 Macbooks?

Anytime man! I am pretty sure that apple will fix/ unleash it as @samu said.
I am pretty excited for this WWDC
a Logic version would really be cool. But I am not full of hopes for near future

I highly doubt if Apple is going to fix this. It isn't broken really. i(Pad)OS and macOS are very different in the way they handle memory. This memory limit isn't the same for AUv3's either (it's much lower there).

  • We will see very soon, but many guys out there are already talking about a serious iOS for iPad update, as the M1 is sort of held back from the operating system right now still.
Anyways, I already saw a HUGE improvement of available plugins I can run (2018 vs 2021) and how flipping fast this thing loads up my biggest Cubasis project compared to my old iPad. So I am good ;) (which doesn’t mean that I cross my finger for apple really surprising us haha)
