Good morning all,

I need your assistance.
Youtube will not let users live stream from their accounts
using mobile devices until they have 1k+ subscribers.

Now, I wasn’t going to go live but I’ve changed my mind
so I need some assistance in this regards especially
considering as I’m iOS only these days.

So I’m inviting you to like and subscribe my channel
which can be found here via my iOS only playlist

Even if you don’t like and subscribe have a listen and enjoy.

If anyone would like tutorials, how to’s and advice
in regards to audio production either app specific (hint)
or in general I’m also contemplating doing Zoom lessons.

Thank you.

Gravitas

  • @Gravitas I might be wrong about this but I think you need 1000 subs plus a certain number of watch hours, which is actually quite high and which can only be reached by putting out a lot of stuff. For example, when I reached 1000 subs, my watch hours were still too low to get youtube partner scheme, it took quite a few months more to reach that. Good luck though!

    No worries about content.
    I’ve got loads going on.
I’m going to be doing interviews for an alternative
Spanish music website that’s going to be launched next month
in regards to ‘World’ music and the live music scene here in London
once the restrictions for live music venues are lifted.
I’m going to be writing articles for them and using my youtube channel
to host the interviews and I’m also doing a regular internet ‘Radioshow’.
The first one was broadcasted earlier this month and
the next one is scheduled for the beginning of next month.
We’ll see how all of this goes.
This is a shout for the iOS side of things.

Thanks for giving me the head ups.

    🙏🏽

    subscribed to your channel.

it would be nice if a few people subscribe to my channel (I don't do sooo much, so don't worry about flooding with videos;)) - I would like to have over 100 subscribers so that I can have a custom url ... :)

sounds & videos: all done on iOS (and samples)

  • This was an easy decision @Gravitas. Subscribed.

  • @gravitas subscribed, good luck!

  • Hi @Gravitas had a listen through the vids and same type of sound I’m into and see your using apps i like to use so subbed, look forward to more content :)

  • @Gravitas the light synth video is interesting as i have been trying to set up some kind of midi processed visuals synced to my production on ipad or years but nothing solid yet.

Apparently drambo are working on a video synth which will be a game changer for me and the thing I’m most excited about

Yeah, the Light synth has since developed quite nicely.
I have several different ways of getting an oscilloscope to react
    to incoming sound.
The Light synth was inspired by seeing a tesseract on an oscilloscope
so I thought to do one using drambo with quite some success.

Apparently drambo are working on a video synth which will be a game changer for me and the thing I’m most excited about

Yeah, the moment drambo gets a visual synth then we’re all going to be even happier.

    In a month?
    Oh cool.
I’ve got plenty enough time to get my flow happening.
It’s a new thing for me.
I’m going to be doing warmups over on FB next week. :)

    Thank you for subscribing. 🙏🏽

  • @Gravitas Do a video exposing the flaws in the new iPads and you’ll get a huge audience. Make it up if you can’t find anything. Complain about the need fir extra hardware to produce music, Bluetooth latency to your $300 Beats headphones that makes it impossible to play the violin (don’t reveal the fact you never could play the violin) and complain that iPhone apps don’t fill the whole display...

Or not. Make app based educational videos and avoid controversy... just don’t say “cool beans” get tile up the ok’ timers on the forum.

How about a video of DAW comparisons.

    Hilarious.
I save my fiction for when I'm writing poetry, novels and film scripts.
    Yup... 😏

Or not. Make app based educational videos and avoid controversy... just don’t say “cool beans” get tile up the ok’ timers on the forum.

You do know that I'm going to be some serious dRambo stuff.

Avoid 'cool beans"? damn...that would mean I can't do a shout out.
    I like shout outs.
Okay, I'll keep those for the radio show.

I can't avoid 'controversy', so in regards to that
I'm going to approach those things head on.
I am open for discussions on many topics and
I am diplomatic for the most part.

I not bothered so much about expletives because I use them like this,
'f!!!!!!!!!k that was brilliant.' or 's!!t,... well...that wasn't supposed to happen'...
I'll get one of those DJ things to press to censor for sensitive sensibilities
just in case I slip up whilst live streaming.

My channel is about equality and fairness.

How about a video of DAW comparisons.

I don't think I want to do that.

There are many tutors on YouTube who do that on a regular basis
so I want to try something else, not that I won't discuss DAW's
but there's enough of that already.

At the moment this is what I'm doing musically.

It's a complete performance piece created using dRambo,
two iPads, the LP X and the LC XL.

    No other third party app.

It has 20 different types of clips that can be launched including
    Euclidean sequencers, playable arpeggiators and
a bass sequencer that can follow notes or can be switched out
using the LP X and the LC XL mki combined.
I also have two rotaries mapped so that I can play melodies
simply by turning a dial or two.
It's quite complex in it's entirety but I do know how to explain it simply.

I shall be showing some of these clip launchers and instruments as we go along.

I want it to be about creating music not the techniques of creating music.

  • Insta-Sub! Good luck in reaching those goals!

I was actually getting ready to post a similar thread, as I just passed the 100 sub mark on my little channel. I’ll be following and looking out for tips that can help me improve mine! Maybe we can help each other!

  • Was already a Gravitas Fan. Looking forward to the journey.

The subscriber count and watch hours is a constant debate. There's a few ways to reach the goal, though one's path isn't exactly clear.

Some say it's the length of content, so it's important to put out longer videos. I personally am trying to make shorter form content, so had to take an alternate route with it.

TL:DR - Have fun. And this was a great listen.

Inspiring content. Keep them coming !

No way... I haven't won an app yet, so, hardly equal and fairness is in the mind of the winners.

How about a video of DAW comparisons.

I don't think I want to do that.

I notice you (like me) tend to rely on AUM.

At the moment this is what I'm doing musically.

Nice try... I'll listen after I win a free app.

I want it to be about creating music not the techniques of creating music.

So... you create music without using/having any technique? Me too. That's why
I've done so much damage to my body in the attempt.

I wont be running competitions, that’s not my thing at all.

Like the song says,’Everyone’s a winner baby’.

How about a video of DAW comparisons.

I don't think I want to do that.

I notice you (like me) tend to rely on AUM.

Nope, I don’t rely upon AUM.

Nice try... I'll listen after I win a free app.

If the only reason why you would listen or look at my channel is to win a free app?
Then you’re not going to be listening much.
    That’s okay, I’m not offended.

I want it to be about creating music not the techniques of creating music.

How does one listen to music?

Is it for enjoyment or is it about technique or is it a combination of both?

What do you look for when looking at youtube channels?

  • Update.

Before I made this post yesterday I only had 67 subscribers.

    Today I have 100 subscribers.

    Thank you. 🙏🏽

  • @Gravitas I was just getting in from work last night when I posted. After I had got settled down, I put on your video above… (Euclidean iii - Soundcheck), grabbed my cans, laid back on the couch, and clicked on the ▶️ button.

Wow! This piece is amazing my man! Well done! I’ll definitely be learning a lot from you as I’m still a Launchpad newb for one (I just bought the LPPMK3 a few weeks ago), but also have a lot to learn from your excellent video production techniques. I LOVE how you did the intro credits!!

Here’s my one tip of the day: (JMO)

DØVYDAS says that he never made it big on YouTube until he posted this video:

In a different video, he talks about this (I’ll have to find it), where he used to upload full sets, like hours long videos, and wasn’t having any luck, until he cut out a short section and posted this:

So, I know they’re saying to upload longer videos, and maybe in the beginning that’s true to some extent, but I really think shorter videos is key, especially if it’s just music/performance pieces. Of course tutorial type stuff and technical videos might be longer. I think the better the bite-sized chunk most peeps’d be apt to click on and commit their time.

For example, and as amazing as it is, I fell asleep about 20 minutes into your video. (I had just got off from a 13 hour shift - I’ll be watching the rest today!!) So I was thinking of a way where we could post and advertise our videos with a “short version” up front, then have the link to the full length video available for those who want to dive in a little deeper. Just thinking out loud here.. we want the most views, likes, and subs we can get right?
