  • @ikmultimedia, Maybe you could post a video showing us all how the pop ups are supposed to work?

  • What pisses me off is their continued insistence that their products NEED to have popups. It's like they are doing their customers some huge favor to say that they considering some modification of the way they shove ads at them.

  • I just don't buy their products. No need to deal with the popups, simple as that.

  • I've boycotted all IKM apps until they do away with the popups and learn basic customer relations. There are plenty of equal, or better, alternatives. Plenty of devs visit this forum and have been accepted and welcomed, although those are the ones who are professional enough to not get into pissing matches with customers in an open forum.

Yep, never bought an IK app myself due to all these complaints. It seems really ridiculous that they can't let it go and instead want to "compromise" with their customers. Imagine if every time you used your ipad an Apple ad popped up at you. Just place a logo in the corner, that's all the advertising you need when someone is already purchasing your products.

So that's at least two customers IK hasn't and won't get, plus a boycott. Guessing there might be quite a few others.

Yep, take the money away, and people start to listen.

  • @ikmultimedia said, They're not that big a deal for most people. Sorry that you don't agree, but at least there are compromises in the works that should be a good resolution anyway so stay tuned. Clueless!

  • 1 more here. Never got IK app or hardware...they might be good but there are alternatives so don't see why put yourself thru the joy of popups ... That is sooo Web 1.0 ;-)

  • They were some of the first and best apps out at the time, didn't know anything about the pop ups when I bought. That was just a bonus!

  • another one here, that refuses to give his money to IKM. Until I'll read here for some time running, that the popups HAVE GONE (period!), I will keep from being interested anymore. This is what we can do, as customers...(and: I used to be very interested, you know, in those Apps)
    cheers, twobeers

@PaulB so what would you prefer over iLectric? Neo-Soul-Keys? I like both but iLectric has more instruments to choose from. And what about iGrand Piano?

NeoSoul Keys developer is a nutcase about electric pianos in particular. There's settings for all possible aspects of the sound of a vintage electric piano bar maybe the stool squeak. The first three: suitcase, Rhodes and Wurlitzer are spot on when played alone but may need some eq/compression to tame them to seat well in the mix but that's how it works with any acoustic or electro acoustic instruments so no surprise there.

Edit: I used to owe wurli so was looking for the closest raw sound to the real thing and I think I got it with this app. The downside is the size. I have to say that I wasn't too impressed with Ielectric videos I saw on YT but that's just me.

  • "Compromise" was a poor choice of words. You'll very likely like the new system when it is rolled out as it is intrusive as it appear now (the new app is being tested and tweaked but I'm not solid on a release date at this time for other reasons I'll explain when it is out). It will have to come with a new app, then move the others according to plan.

Edit nvm the previous is enough info

  • Yep, these guys crapped all over the kvr mobile app forum with this routine long ago, which easily clued me in to never buy anything from them. That forum seemed the most active until the audiobus forum started and quickly ate its cake.

They are prolific at simultaneously spamming, shilling, and insulting. Just search their User History on KVR and behold their intractable arrogance.

No serious ios music enthusiast should ever think twice about supporting them, and no serious music-making community should let them romp around their forums without calling them out for what they are.

EDIT: This is a response to the IK post above which has been edited into insignificance.

I'm sure I would be very surprised. I have seen many online examples involving different customers where an IK rep has taken a scolding tone with a customer for expressing dissatisfaction with some aspect of their IK experience. By all means defend your products by pointing out the good features, explaining why the customer's demands can't be met immediately (or at all), but never try to blame, put down or score points off a customer that you disagree with, that's extremely poor customer service. 100's of happy customers do not offset even one example of discourteous behaviour towards a customer. Companies I've worked for would start disciplinary proceedings against an employee who repeatedly spoke to customers the way I've seen IK reps do. Just apologise to your customer that you cannot help them in a particular instance, give them a reason and tell them you'll let them know if the situation changes. Simple.

  • We are successful and proud to have been so in mobile music creation from the start, so please do call that out. Apple has done just that in multiple TV and print ads, we will send your regards next time we are in Cupertino. There's a difference between pride and arrogance and we are simply proud to be in this commercial and that was all we came here to say. Apologies for any other off-topic derailment. Carry on without us in this thread.

  • Hmm. If I understand this correctly, when part of your mobile music customer base asks that their workflow not be interrupted by popups or ads, the choice is either 'No', or buy another of our apps? Weird.

Thank god! My work is done here! :)

  • Thanks for sending my kind regards to Cupertino in person considering I never have and never will hand you a single penny for that honor.

Take note, ya'll, this is exactly how they operate day in, day out.

They bring zero value to any music-making forum and that's if I'm being charitable.

If someone in audiobus upper management has a perma-ban button, I can think of no better recipient than that user account.

It's pretty hard to reconcile the pop-up ads and PR fails, with the company which makes amazing gear like the iRig HD, a truly excellent piece of tech. Therefore I'm a bit torn on this one.

I'd just say that while as a company director I might occasionally 'want' to say things along the lines of what the IK guy does in this thread, as a company representative I would never dream of speaking to potential customers in that manner. Not helped by the fact that it does definitely come across as more arrogant when to everyone reading he is on the wrong side of this argument. I think he'd have more sympathy if he was responding to genuine trolling rather than a rather good point. If he's heard the complaint a thousand times before (which I'm sure he has, and it must chafe), that's his company's fault, not the customer's. At least they're doing something about the ads, I guess!

By the way, @ikmultimedia, do you have any update on the release date for the iRig Mic HD?

Nobody would dispute that we customers can be a difficult and cantankerous bunch, prompting any rep's desire to make much more controversial responses to our comments, but the job of representative is to smooth ruffled feathers, make the customer feel valued and to convert any problem into a potential new sale, along with increasing the chance of the customer singing the company's praises to his friends and family. I submit that this is not happening here...

  • I for one will continue to call them out every time they rear their ugly head around here or any other forum, until they change (not likely) or just go away!
