Off-Topic: Breaking Crypto News!
This thread is dedicated to discussing news and developments in cryptos of all kinds (but no Tether discussion) and the free exchange of ideas for artists, investors and people who are thinking of jumping in and not quite sure where to start.
You’re welcome to post here without distracting trolling, @dendy!

Interesting story about Citigroup. After El Salvador declared Bitcoin legal tender, the dam is really breaking on adoption:

For those just starting to investigate cryptos, here’s an informative site which tracks current market activity (disclaimer, I have no financial interest or other connections to sites listed, unless I note otherwise):

Nearly everyone knows about Bitcoin at this point, but have you ever heard of Hashgraph? It’s a fascinating new development which has the potential to disrupt the basic ideas like polling and voting, using blockchain style tech.
I do not hold any “Hedera” (which is the cryptocoin built on Hashgraph), but I do know some people who are investors. I have no direct financial interest in this crypto.

Best companies/apps/sites for crypto investors? That’s a good question.
I’ve had issues with both Gemini (a brokerage which is known for their adherence to all Federal and State regulations in the US) and with Coinbase (which is the biggest crypto exchange in the US), so new investors should do their own homework and determine for themselves what is an acceptable level of risk for them. Consequently, I do not recommend any one exchange over another.
Also, one should never “bet” more than one can afford to lose 100%, especially for people new to crypto.

Which exchange(s) have you used and how has your experience been?
Great insight thx!
What I am glad to see is that, compared to the last few months, Eth's price now seems to be decoupling from BTC, rising while Bitcoin ranges, stagnates or falls. Exciting times for Eth ahead, I think.
About YouTube channels, this guy is my hands down favourite so far. Top quality research and much less fluff than most of the others. He does a lot of number crunching and research on Fundamentals. I especially recommend his series of 'Should I buy....' videos.
I agree. Ethereum has become almost the de facto means of creating and issuing dapps and supporting services, whereas Bitcoin is taking on a role of “digital gold” which will be a relatively stable store of value for the next 100 years or so.
Check out the 9 part series of Michael Saylor interviews with podcaster Robert Breedlove on his “What Is Money” podcast for some really interesting insights.
You’re welcome! I’m on the same journey as most people as I try to learn as much as I can with crypto and crypto market developments.
I know some people who got into this stuff far earlier than I did, which finally convinced me to research and then start investing. Most of my experience in investing comes from decades of investing in the stock market, which has performed in my favor.
And I must emphasize that every person must take responsibility and do their own research, regardless of whatever opinions or sources are provided here. None of this should be considered investing advice. Enjoy!
Why couldn't this go in the crypto thread we already have going? Not upset, just wondering?
Because the primary mission of this thread is news, information and the exchange of ideas. The other thread is dozens of pages of circular arguments and negativity. If anyone chooses to argue over philosophy instead of how to best take advantage of what exists now and what is coming around the corner, please go to the other thread.
This thread is for people who are ready for information, discussion and learning.
What are the basics? Where’s the best place to begin to learn about Bitcoin (for free)?

https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/
It's kind of like the No Dissent zone for crypto information.
Who are some of the people who have made a name as educators in the Bitcoin and crypto space? Note that some of these sites feature paid products or services, such as books, lectures, consulting services, etc.
Andreas Antonopolous

Saifedean Ammous

Michael Saylor (Saylor is known as a “Bitcoin maximalist”, or someone who is “all in” on Bitcoin, so don’t expect him to present arguments against it.)
https://www.michael.com/
I guess, OP is hoping to have a discussion that only includes people that agree with his point of view.
The other thread is nothing but dissent. If you want or need that, be my guest.
Please take it to Richard’s thread. Thanks.
If you’re ready to talk about investing, feel free to contribute helpful information for people who want to take the next step. This isn’t a thread about arguing if Bitcoin is money, an asset or a fad. This is for people who have already made a decision.
What are some potential strategies for investing in cryptos?
My personal strategy involved investing small (very small) amounts into a variety of cryptos to learn about market direction and looking for patterns. I used this same strategy with the stock market when I first started investing in stocks.
Here are some ideas from other sources:
https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/06/08/which-crypto-to-buy-4-different-strategies/

Yes!
Some people might benefit from knowing about some of the downsides you label negativity but which others would characterize as legit information.
You want to know the downsides? You yourself have posted many arguments against cryptos.
And there are 70+ pages of circular arguments in the other thread. A total waste of time, by my estimation.
Serious Ned Ryerson energy in here. Have fun, guys!
If investing is interesting to you, let’s discuss and learn.
If new ideas are frightening, a person might be more comfortable in the other thread which is nothing but @dendy presenting evidence against negative attacks.

NFT’s have been discussed here before, but here are the nuts and bolts for artists and musicians here.
Hey @NeuM - serious question. I'm not trolling.
If there's negative "Breaking Crypto News" as opposed to just rehashing entrenched positions, is it welcome here? Asking because while I'm mostly pro-crypto in a general sense, I do come across news that appears to be negative from time to time. I'm interested in all news to inform myself, but I won't post such here if it's not welcome.
The point is not to troll others with arguments over intractable personal philosophical positions. If an exchange is hacked or goes bankrupt, for example, that’s news and that’s important information for everyone who might read it here.
@NeuM good idea... will add some valuable sources of information later
Great! This thread can be a resource for everyone with continuously updated information. After all, almost all of us could use more good information on this subject. Even people who are already investors.
Btw. i would suggest renaming thread name to "Bubble for crypto enthusiasts" :-) To keep it very clear .. not every information is "breaking", some are just .. information ... :-D
