Yep key change from C to E. Picking up a trick from Danny Elfman, when the music is basically the same for a few bars, and then those bars repeat the same content, a key change is enough of a change to keep it interesting. I picked the change to E after trying a few different key changes…this one just sounded right.
Just, in my opinion, little descent nightly sketch I want to share…sorry for the glitches I need a IPAD with more cpu power…when someone is crazy enough to support me, he is welcome 😺
I made a real Track out of it...making music in the garden is just too awesome when the neighbour keeps calm
Can someone say if the link leads to my SoundCloud Account…I always get the wrong displayed when I reload t^his site
Thanks, @spyrogaia. I was just learning how to compose/improv back then. Making songs like that really helped me learn.
@DavidEnglish, that is some nice mood music. Has a great relaxing sound. I was looking at Lurssen Mastering Console too, glad to hear something made using it.

No problem! Still lurking, sometimes commenting. Cheers!
In my contribution, all the sounds are from the awesome Synthmaster 2, sequenced by 3 different sources: Autony, Snakebud and midiDREAMS. The Tape Cassette app gives it some scratch and Blackhole soothes the itch. I ran it all through that Bark Filter preset that everyone loves.
@Overdosed_Ape I like this very much, it’s really my kind of thing. I will say, though, that I like the first one, the “sketch,” better than the “real track.” The recording seems to have a lot more what I’ll call presence, for lack of a better term. I even like the glitches!
And, yes, clicking on the thingy led me to your SC account.
@Kitusai I like everything about this except its brevity!
Thank you for your really kindly words…and I mean this in a totally none cynicism way
@Sawiton your song sounds really good, liked it. Mix is clear and all the sounds are clearly placed. I think it get repetitive, though. May need a kettle more variation.
@Kitusai a very interesting piece! Short, but I could hear this on a loop in a video game. Mix is clear, maybe too much bass though.
@dav nice jazz tune! Performances were very good. Mix was pretty good as well!
@Overdosed_Ape its a nice piece, It’s a little repetitive if it’s not ambient/downtempo?
Sometimes in the mix the percussive elements drowned out everything. Maybe some panning or level change to place them differently.
@rottencat nice piece. Good ambient with percussion elements. I could hear this one as a video game “walking around the forest” song. Everything clear in the mix to me.
I totally agree…it’s due to that I arranged it on Laptop with not enough cpu power…again. Trough that the rendering turned out different to what I thought I have tweaked.
Originally the breaks and variations are more on point…when the wether gets bad enough I will do it more Perfect on my Desktop Pc…no matter if Somebody is still interested in the result 😀
Haven’t been in a song of the month thread in a bit. Finally made it back.
@richardyot loving that you’re expanding your vocal range. Big change since I last heard one of your tracks. Great stuff.
@orchardman I like the Ghost vibe! And the vocals remind me a bit of Heart. The vocals seem a bit loud and disconnected from the rest. But overall good work.
@DavidEnglish sounds like a fun experiment and it turned out pretty neat. I like the visuals you paired with it too.
@Sawiton always fun to hear news clips turned into music. Fun vibe you have here. I do think the wub gets a little tiring after a bit. But definitely a lot of creativity happening here.
@Kitusai Right on the edge of “too abstract” for me but the balance of textures and interesting sounds kept me tuned in. I do think the length was perfect.
@McM it’s like if Danny Elfman did the Simpson’s music. Also kind of makes me think of some of the Disney Channel originals like Halloweentown. Always cool to hear someone make something different!
@studs1966 this is my kind of jam. There’s a playlist I love on Spotify called Lo-Fi House. This makes me think of that.
@Overdosed_Ape Reminds me of some of the jams I end up playing along with on Endlesss. Kind of like a stream of consciousness type thing. Neat stuff.
@rottencat i feel like this could fit in as ambient music in a video game, maybe like an MMO while you’re questing in the jungle. Some of the sounds were very sharp and loud, made it kind of hard to listen to all the way through, but I liked what I heard.
My first finished track of 2021. It has been a crazy year. As always, an instrumental. Composed in Cubasis 3 on my iPhone. Mixed and mastered in AUM on my iPad. BLEASS Alpha, Bass 808, and EG Pulse for the instruments. ToneBoosters everything and BLEASS Chorus for effects.
My tip, don’t listen to “people” !. If by “people” you mean casual listeners, they give the worst advice. It’d be like me giving advice to an investment banker!.
Regarding the vocal volume… it’s not always or not only volume. It’s about perception of where the vocal sits. Maybe it’s got to do with eq, or the reverb eq. More bass, for example, means it’s pushed forward. It’s tricky, vocals are the hardest thing to get right IMO.
I listen to a lot of ambient when working, this would fit right in. Moodscaper is pretty chill 👍
Beautifully atmospheric though, you've captured the vibe perfectly.
Uplifting disco, with an easy and happy vibe. Good times.
The trumpet is beautiful! I like the gentle bossa feel to this, it's mellow but toe-tapping at the same time, and the trumpet melodies are most agreeable.
The mix is a bit top-heavy though, it feels like the bottom-end has been filtered out. I guess this gives it a vintage feel, but a modern recording should have a bit more bass.
I like the sampled trumpet in the background, but the main riff is too repetitive for me, I would definitely like to hear more variety in the track and also more progression, with more changes over time.
The backbone is good though, but it just needs more interest over the course of six minutes.
Some great sound design (or sound choices) in this, and the sounds create a very compelling atmosphere. The generative sequences work pretty well too, with some interesting variations over the course of the track.
Excellent vibe that makes you want to keep listening.
Good stuff, the melodic arps are quite hypnotic and the arrangement is very well structured, with some nice ebb and flow. The beat is great, you can't help but tap your feet while this is playing. Nice lo-fi sounds in the intro and chill synths throughout.
Very nice vibe and a satisfying listen.
Thank you! The intro is the main melody reversed, pitched, and stretched. I’m trying not to overdo it, but I really like what the method produces.
Cool idea, and nice sound design!
Thank You Richard & @DukeWonder.. Very much appreciated guys..
Thanks, @richardyot. I agree with that mix observation. I’m finding it hard to adjust the bass levels in those old recording, the bass is hard mixed in all ready. Too much bass boost ruins the rest of the instruments. I’ve been tinkering around with different EQ tools, I’ll keep working on it. I really appreciate this feedback!
