And the @brambos remix of EG ClassicFX which I saw in my dreams, where you have 4 XY pad quadrants, which makes it easier to play them without looking at the iPad.

The two-stringed baritone guitar I played in my dreams, called an Orlük.

  • Palm apps.
    WaveStorm
    Self-a-fuzz and lalalab.

  • Pearl Guitar. A great sounding acoustic guitar simulation fell into disrepair due to neglect.

    The Alchemy app

Alchemy is built into GarageBand now, but I do know the original worked a little differently from the GB version.

I'm going to try to guess what these apps do, without looking them up.

    Z3TA+2
Synthesizer that makes it easy for drunk frat bros to use advanced math to design EDM risers.

    The Alchemy app
Move toward a "preset node" by tapping multiple options under "more gentle" or "more conventional" or "more trippy" etc. and then hitting "confirm". Suggestions vary in color and intensity, allowing the musician to make better use of timbre in creating a sense of contrast.

    GM Mobile
Makes me think of "general manager" like AUM or Trello, or Gospel Musicians. Maybe just AUM 2, except it's more modular, customizable, and open source.

    Gumdrops
Miniature looping sequences...wait I think I remember this one

    Mint.IO
Modular synthesis environment that generates reusable Swift code in multiple dialects. The company also works with solo devs to find routes for making their projects open source, while still earning income by adapting their projects to be marketable for K12 education.

    Fiddlewax
For electric violin players who are new to digital music production, Fiddlewax offers a multi-FX suite with algorithms handpicked for the discerning violinist, and presets designed to be simple and versatile.

    CatPiano
Minimalist chromatic grid keyboard and synth combo, featuring a vowel filter. Tap and hold pads to play notes and chords, then swipe anywhere while holding button 1 of 2, to transpose the same note or chord...then press button 2 of 2 to trigger the new MIDI event.

    Studio.hd
An AU host that can overlay various semi-transparent graphs and meters atop the AU window. Built by the cousin of Hans, the Mangoo man, before he accepted defeat as a rival mad scientist.

    Tascam Portastudio
The best DAW for people who can't reconcile their hatred of technology with their love of the iPad. Optimized for battery life, efficiency, and simplicity. Lo-fi skeumorphic design. Good for people who aren't self-conscious about their taste, bad for elitist hipsters.

  • Is there a way to backup your apps so you can use it ten years from now?

  • edited August 2021

I think you can air drop apps. So Oval synth can be sent from a phone to ipad etc.

  • edited August 2021

I’m glad I still have PPG Infinite, but I could never get the damn tiny, finnicky matrix to respond in a consistent way to set up modulations for custom presets. I even slogged through that manual. Some crazy awesome built-in presets though!

Yes. Never update the old iPad and turn off wi-fi.

And keep using the iPad and charging it sensibly to avoid finding the battery dead after you left it in a drawer for a couple of months. Or years.

I think I asked this before but doesn’t iMazing let you archive your apps so that you can restore them at some point in the future if they get removed from the store?

Yep, it saved KRFT for me thankfully cos I had deleted it one time without thinking

You would also need to keep an iPad with an older OS on it as most abandoned apps just stop working on newer OSes.

A lot of the abandoned stuff never made it to 64 bits.

  • Roland SoundCanvas 😭

Yes, but that just sends an app store link. The app store opens on the receiving device. If you try to share a deleted app, it times out with "Couldn't communicate with a helper app".

Can you archive an app on one iPad then open it on another iPad that has your ID etc? I have one (LP5) on an old Air2 that I would like to see on my Air4. I’m expecting the answer is no? 😕

  • CS Spectral from Boulanger Labs seems to have disappeared as well.

Was Cakewalks wavetable synth ported to iOS. Before Gibson closed it down. Only works if you turn off automatic date and time settings and set date back to some odd date in the past.

Was Camels entry into iOS before Apple bought them out.

    MusicInNoTime. Was a Groovebox

    Fiddlewax
For electric violin players who are new to digital music production, Fiddlewax offers a multi-FX suite with algorithms handpicked for the discerning violinist, and presets designed to be simple and versatile.

Was kind of meant as a learning tool.

    CatPiano
Minimalist chromatic grid keyboard and synth combo, featuring a vowel filter. Tap and hold pads to play notes and chords, then swipe anywhere while holding button 1 of 2, to transpose the same note or chord...then press button 2 of 2 to trigger the new MIDI event.

    Meeeeeow.

    Studio.hd
An AU host that can overlay various semi-transparent graphs and meters atop the AU window. Built by the cousin of Hans, the Mangoo man, before he accepted defeat as a rival mad scientist.

Early attempt at making money out of selling people loops.

    Tascam Portastudio

    Spot on :)

  • @BiancaNeve Thanks for letting me know. I found the real Mint.io to be the most inspiring.

  • Roland SoundCanvas is gone too... (It can be re-downloaded if previously purchased).

    When did these disappear???
    The delay is actually useful.
The two that disappeared that I really liked alongside
Oval synth were AudioMastering and AltiSpace.

    Agreed.

I've actually used it in quite a few AUM jams.
I think I got it last year.
