If you’re a potential Steam Deck buyer, you’re probably not the target audience for the Playdate to begin with.
🤣
Perhaps, but I've debating this as well:
Can do a lot more with this than Playdate for a lesser price.
They’re so absurdly unique and niche, I love it
Ouch.
🎖️
It’s not overpriced if you have a lot of money.
I love that “Song” and “Sound” are in the main menu of their web-based game maker. There’s also a proper SDK that supports Lua and C. I wonder what it would take to turn it into a Bluetooth MIDI CC controller?
That "All hipsters look alike" article image somewhere on the first page - really make my day!
By the way, darenager over at elecktronauts.com on this similar thread mentioned the pocket, which I've never heard of before. Maybe of interest to some of you:

Ha!
The latest round of complaining from users gives me a little pause. But its just a matter of figuring out if it's really just as simple as "waah, they replaced the metal housing with plastic" - which I would consider merely cosmetic - or there's really a more serious design flaw under the hood.
Get one, they're awesome.
After listening to this podcast episode, something came over me and I placed a preorder. Pls send halp.
I can confess I was a fan of the OPZ but man for the price of it, it was so cheaply constructed. Ive found all their gear to be very cheap plastic. When I pay 600 for something I want it to be robust. I cringed when I took it on commutes and on flights as I had no faith in it surviving.
Ive got a midiplus midi keyboard for 60 new and it is mostly constructed in a metal casing.
Their stuff caters to people who like to be able to say “hey I have taste and my product is soo unique, bet you don’t know anyone else who has one”
The projection of what people imagine Teenage Engineering customers are really like, deep down, is quite something.
Yeah, there's also quite a bit of irony in it, if you think about it.
I’ve also ordered an OP-Z. Second hand, tho. Still: halp!
I GOT A FEVER
