    Nice song... as always.. :)

Cubasis has the timeline for mixing (but not Ableton Link).. What we need in AUM is... SnapShots+...

  • Very good. Remove the drums, IMO. Think about it.... what do they do but distract?

  • Love it, but 14-16 hours is normal workday In my profession. We even have a thing called “Fraturdays” that is where you are supposed to have Saturday and Sunday off but they work you from Friday until 7 am Saturday and then say,”have a nice weekend!” 😤

  • Very nice Edward. I found the piece very relaxing to listen to. I wouldn’t get rid of the drums, but I think they need to be improved if I am honest - listening casually it just sounds like a continuous repeating loop - it may be I’ve missed subtle changes, but it’s a shame because you’ve put your heart and soul into the rest of it. I wasn’t a fan of the actual drum sound either I’m afraid. But, beautiful instrumentation and pretty melodies abound - very well done!

  • Are you automating that volume of the sax riff and if yes with what app? I like the drums for dancing a slow one with my cat.

Thanks Mike, I went in thinking I’d make a piece without drums… but then,

    I just LOVE the drums!

I guess I could do another “remix”? 😉👌

Are you on your feet that whole 14-16 hour shift?

    I am.. and I’m running 🏃‍♂️

I’ll have a look at the drum track tonight and consider making changes.

This is a WIP after all ❤️

    I appreciate all input!

Yes, I’m using the MIDI LFO app to automate the riff, it’s the GeoSWAM Cello though, but yes.

It’s funny you mention your cat as I was thinking of dedicating this one to my dog lol

Beautifully done. Love the emotional feel. Keep it up !

  • I think this is beautiful…. Don’t listen to Levy.. he is just a grump. 😂😂. I kid. But I would like more variation in the drums.

    Oh! Thank you so much!

    Really means a lot!

  • Excellent again. Personally I don’t mind the drums but perhaps toned down a bit? No right or wrong in this game though!

I get what he’s saying, and he’s been egging me on to do a piece without drums… I just don’t know that this is that piece.

With that, I do agree that this drum track needs some work. I didn’t put anywhere near the effort into this one, as I did, say, my previous piece “Beyond the Beaten Path”, which had alternating patterns, and each pattern contained several steps that were altered with all kinds of probability, chance, random velocities, and retriggers for the snare rolls and such.

Thank you Tony! I agree, the drums here are definitely the weakest link.

I remember my kids always wanting to douse my well seasoned steaks with A-1 sauce! 🥩 I did feel like they were ruining it!

I get where you’re coming from Mike, regarding the distraction. The Visual Synthesizer thing could also be considered a distraction by the same train of thought.

I think however if one (or I) were to put in the work, and craft some drum lines that compliment a piece, and make it a well polished feature of a bigger, complete package, then the results would be amazing (and more likely better received). This is how I’ve been hoping my Visual Synthesizer pieces are coming across; complete packages. More than just an audio track or piece of music, but an audible/Visual experience - you know, can’t have pork chops without applesauce?

  • The midi pack. THE MIDI PACK! the midi pack,...

Kudos on spoofing those ads. I guess I am not the only one who suffers them.

They must spend a fortune on them, tho. Which would mean they actually sell some?

Good lord I hate those MIDI Pack ads.

  • I love the piece. :) In my opinion though, the drums should be acoustic, not electronic, should be softer in the mix, they should be given some room reverb (not hall, but room with a tail), and finally the drums should have the low-end shaved off at around 120Hz or so. :) Otherwise, this piece is perfecto.

  • I have no issues with the drums or anything in this piece, Ed. ;) Very nice.

  • Oh man, how I hate this YT ad.

IKR! I mean, do people actually buy those?

Indeed! I saw how @LinearLineman changed his profile pic to that of his beloved pooch, and was reminded of how truly blessed we are to have these wonderful, loving creatures among us, albeit for such a short time. We don’t deserve them..

Here’s our little mini- cocker spaniel mix “Cody” (he’s about 12-15 lbs, and I believe he thinks he’s a cat at times!) 🐈‍⬛

Pic was from about 10 years ago^^^ in dog years, he’s about 90 now.

Thank you J! You must be reading my mind, as I have some acoustic drum samples on the drawing board as we speak.

I sometimes have a bad habit of rushing through things, this piece being no different, I uploaded it the other morning before heading out to work, and thought I might be able to stir up some discussion and maybe get some constructive feedback. As predicted, the amazing members of our community here never disappoint!

Thanks! I appreciate that. It’s a work in progress (A “WIP” as denoted by the YT title), so it may evolve a little. Drums, and maybe even a guitar track or two in the pipeline. We’ll see. Stay tuned!

Sometimes us musicians do need to rush things in order to get our ideas out of our heads before they vanish as quickly as they came. ;) So there's nothing wrong with quickly using what's at your disposal.

  • Updated with new and improved drums! Please see video description for details.

Also tightened up the GeoSWAM Cello riff and since @McD mentioned it, I added a little surprise.

Various other little tweaks and adjustments.

  • Oooh it's a bit balearic! xx
