sEGments timestretch improved algorithm
Could this be the holy grail? Looking forward to seeing how it stacks up to koala and bm3.
Thanks for listening @ElliottGarage

Ok.. looking forward..
So anyone use both Segments and Virsyn Reslice? Interested in how they compare. Not a vs winner takes all, I’m interested in if they complement each other or if there’s too much duplication in what they accomplish.
I have both but never use reslice. I don’t think it has timestretch which is pretty essential for app like this IMO.
The way sEGments works with its lazy slicing (I think that’s what it’s called!) and easy preset sharing is great.
@gregsmith thanks.
I don't think of the two apps as being in competition. Reslice's arpeggiator is fun fast way to rearrange grooves and discover new stuff.
That’s pretty much how I use Reslice. Good to hear you describe them as not being competition to each other as I’ve been thinking of picking up sEGments.
Good to have an improved stretching algorithm, but my strategy has been to craft loops in BlocsWave at the song temp and then share to Segments which leaves BlocsWave to do the time stretching (which it does well).
@gregsmith I think the holy grail for segments would be drag and drop sample to pad. Then it would be like a full sample based drum machine with fx per sample slot, compact yet very powerful, and a delight to use.
You mean like this? 🤔😉
So sEGments will soon have multi sample import? Awesome! I was just thinking how great that would be. I have so many thoughts on how to use this. Seriously excited 😁!
@echoopera What if you want to change the sample assigned to a pad. Can you do that?
Can you add samples individually to particular pads?
I dunno. I would suppose so.
@echoopera lets hope it so ... then it will be the holy grail!!
Truth. 👊🏼™️ I asked him on IG if we can. Guess we’ll know as soon as the update drops whenever that is 😵💫
@echoopera fingers crossed.
This is going to be amazing
Sweet !
Could you shed some light @ElliottGarage ? 😁
You can import multiple samples but they are sorted. sEGments engine at the moment need the slices are ordered sequentially.
BTW to import each sample in a slot/pad you have already EG Pulse that has born specifically for that purpose 😉
I guess if you want to reorder pads etc you can just export to the sEGments preset to EG Pulse. I wonder if you order it how you want it there if you can move it back to sEGments again? Will have to try it
Amazing to see some love to timestretching on iOS!
@ElliottGarage does it mean we can expect the same in EG Pulse? EG Pulse would be much more flexible for multiple loops, but it's missing quite some options - especially there's no way to keep the sample looped, better tempo detection or at least an option to change (e.g. usually drum n bass loops detect as half BPM, sometimes it's even completely wrong) etc, which actually seems true also for sEGments...
Another thing that sEGments is really missing is an option to trim sample, especially when you have some recorded material and want to separate e.g. 1 bar chunks. Not possible right now unless you edit it in other editor and export as separate files. With multi-files import, that would be even more handy.
Thanks for doing a great job!
I believe he said before the release of this app that trimming wasn't in the scope of this app. There was some discussion about it and he was not interested in that feature.
On the other hand, it would be nice to see some upgrades ported over to EG Pulse.
These apps are quite amazing and powerful. Thanks for all your hardwork @ElliottGarage!
@ElliottGarage whilst I love Segments I don’t like EG Pulse at all. It has loads of potential but I cant get passed the sensitivity on the knobs. For example the BPM dial is ridiculously sensitive. Trying to set pan precisely is very difficult. For me it was a complete turn off. Maybe I’m missing something on how they work. It’s not the only app in this category for me, but there are plenty that do knob sensitivity/action well. Sorry to be blunt but partly its because I would really like to use EG Pulse. Meanwhile the faders in Segments are perfect.
☝️
It would be awesome if EG Pulse kits could imported into Segments.
For anyone who’s wondering what’s going on, this is from insta
Was wondering
Can't wait for this to 'drop'
@ElliottGarage If the new timestretching made it into EG Pulse, I would be a very happy person
@ElliottGarage will the new features in the update be an IAP? Do you have ETA for when it will be available?
Update is live
Just saw it in the App Store ..Supersonic version.. Will buy
