Which apps support multi in/out with AB?

I know Loopy, Auria, DrumJam, and Thumbjam support it. Any others?

  • MTDAW

  • Jam Maestro - input for each instrument.

  • Nice to know that I have most of those apps!
Now, I need some edumacatin'... I grok what the words mean, but what exactly does it mean in the iOS music world?
    Thanks for not snickering... :-)

Didn't realize that. Time to revisit an old friend.

And Cubasis. Probably Auria also, but i'm not sure since i don't have it.

  • Those are the ones I know about. I wish more multi-timbral instruments supported it in the input slot. Is this a difficult piece of the AB SDK to implement, or is it just overlooked?

  • I'm not seeing this with MTDAW. How did you get it to work @Zymos?

  • Maybe misunderstood your question, but if you open 2 or more inputs in AB, then open MTDAW, each synth is automatically assigned a track and you can record them all simultaneously.

  • I was actually referring to how Loopy and others work. If you open Loopy in an input or output slot, and then remove it it, once you go to select it again you'll see a symbol to allow you to choose a specific track or the master track.

  • Beatmaker 2

  • I'm not seeing it with BM2 either.

  • That is because loopy assigns It using ab and bm2 internally. Apart from the fact that loopy is also on the input they perform similarly AFAIK

  • Eh?.. Beatmaker doesn't allow mulit outputs to audiobus or am I seriously missing something?

  • I think the confusion is between multiple AB inputs and multiple app inputs via AB.

  • Bm2 does multiple outputs just as mtdaw which was mentioned above. Since OP was asking about in/out I thought I mentioned it, that's all.

  • Thats a very good point!

  • My subject line wasn't clear enough, but i did mean apps that allow you to pick specific inputs/outputs from within AB.

  • I think its easy to get confused (for me at least) when talking about an apps inputs/outputs in the same sentence as AB2 outputs/inputs as they mean the opposite to each other :(

We're the Audiobus devs looking at something to make this a lot clearer?

Ie: Have the functionality shown in Audiobus before the input app is opened as opposed to having to open say Thumbjam before Audiobus to see the multi routing options available in Audiobus?

He means this (see pict) as inputs....

Are you absolutely sure about this?

Ha, yes, I think so. Maybe I'm wrong. It happened once before.

  • That's great because we were all in need of some clarity, especially me. Cheers man.

  • That pic nailed it.

    Yay me.

Awesome. I've been looking into this myself. I emailed the dev of Protein der Klang about adding this very feature. Not to hijack the thread, but I'm starting to feel like there needs to be some sort of developer standard set for music production apps. This function, for example. AB and IAA functionality, adding play and record buttons to the AB tabs, midi, a standard clock sync, etc. Some sort of rules which makes playing music on iOS easy, so we're not always bouncing around and asking devs for this function or that function. I think iOS music production has matured to that level, and there is no need to be guessing on how all this needs to work anymore. Basics, ya know? Ok, end. Time for work. Back to topic. Haha.

  • Samplr needs this ability too.

  • So this gets me wondering... which apps can go in the AB output, then in a new pipeline go into the input slot? Most daws seem to be able to do this, but I'd love it if WerkBench, or again, Samplr had this ability. I've emailed WB about it and never heard back, it'd be awesome to improvise with thumbjam or something while simultaneously recording into a daw.

I've been looking for this, as well, from a drum app with each drum as an audiobus input. Anybody know of anything? It seems like a feature that might demand some serious interest/sales....
