With MixBox does the value and stunning scope of the app overshadow the lack of top shelf quality/fidelity?

I think the only thing missing in MixBox is oversampling. The filters especially are really bad for aliasing, but the saturator could also do with it. Other than that it's a great sounding app.

Interestingly, in the latest update they mentioned "Improved EQ-PG internal oversampling", so it looks like they have all the pieces in place to add it to more modules. It's a bit of a shame that you can't turn it on and off though.

    Thank @Samu and wim.

The 3-dots looks like a problem, hopefully devs fix it in their apps that support it (multitasking).

How's Safari? Tabs need to reload more often? Curious about RAM usage vs iPadOS 14. (iPad 2 on iOS 9; Air 1/Mini 2 on iOS 12 sluggishness).

I seldom have more than 2-3 tabs open (ok, when I visit forums I open every thread with new posts in a separate tab (this can sometimes be +30 or so) and have not noticed safari reloads, it might happen with heavier pages with lots of media content.

I also have a habit of 'swiping away' apps I don't use even though some say it should not matter...

Over all during the ~2 hour period this morning It's a smooth sail and about the same as 14.8 with some areas be a bit more 'fluid' and I'm really liking the Applinrary that now correctly sorts all music apps into a 'Music' folder and 'Betas' into a TestFlight folder etc. etc.

I'm still 'cleaning up' the home pages and keep only apps that I actually use easily accessible, no need to have folders with AUv3's visible on the screens when they are 'plug-ins' for the most part.

All my AUM, BM3, Cubasis, Gadget and other stuff work just as well as they did before, can't notice anything odd yet...

The 'three dot' multi-tasking thing can interfere with apps that have UI elements in the same position.

And well, my iPhone 8 hast the 'Storage Bug' where iOS complains that I'm almost out of storage with more than 25% free...
(Hopefully 15.0.1 will drop very soon as I don't feel like doing a restore on it).

And well, Safari on bot iOS & iPadOS has a 'new look' and may need some customizing to 'get back to normal' :sunglasses:

    Thanks for the report Samu.

Funny how I always want to prematurely hit that update button with big Apple updates, but never with Microsoft.

Anyone notice any older apps not working in iOS 15?

I've been lucky so far. No problems whatsoever in iOS 15. Only problems of note have been on desktop so far and that's probably because the next iteration of macOS comes out in about a month.

Just got this from IK Multimedia in my email:

    From: IK Multimedia Support
    Important information concerning iOS 15

This week Apple released both the iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 updates and we’re happy to report that the majority of IK apps work perfectly with the new iOS with a few exceptions.

Please note, our AmpliTube and VocaLive apps are not yet officially supported on iOS 15 or iPadOS 15. This includes the following related apps:

    • VocaLive / VocaLive for iPad
    • VocaLive CS / VocaLive CS for iPad
    • AmpliTube / AmpliTube for iPad
    • AmpliTube CS / AmpliTube CS for iPad
    • AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix / AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix for iPad
    • AmpliTube Slash / AmpliTube Slash for iPad
    • AmpliTube Orange / AmpliTube Orange for iPad
    • AmpliTube MESA Boogie
    • AmpliTube Acoustic / AmpliTube Acoustic CS

If you are not primarily using VocaLive or any AmpliTube apps, you may proceed and update to iOS 15. All other IK apps are supported on iOS 15.

We’re hard at work to qualify our AmpliTube and VocaLive apps for compatibility with iOS 15/iPadOS 15. In the meantime, we suggest users of these apps disable automatic updates (If enabled).

To disable iOS automatic updates, go to the iOS Settings app and enter the General section. From here go to the Software Update section and you’ll find the option to disable Automatic Updates.

We’ll soon announce support for iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.

    Best regards,

    Your IK Multimedia team

They're a little bloody late, aren't they? Any developer worth their salt had been working with the iOS 15 beta for months. They would've known about these incompatibilities long before this if they were actually doing the job of a developer. This is a really half-assed job by them.

  • I've never had a problem in either Ableton or Bitwig with MixBox. Must be a Garageband thing as corruptions aren't something I read about in a variety of forums.

Where Apple might lead in terms of best practices in many areas, Garageband is not the benchmark in the world of DAWs.

That is an understatement in terms of 3rd party app support. Especially on MacOS.

Amplitube does not open on iOS15, instant crash even with all permissions given. This is on an XSMax iPhone, no interface plugged in, haven’t checked iPad Pro. Can anyone else confirm if other IK apps (MixBox etc..) are working or crashing on iOS15, on iPhones or iPads? Seems like IK will be forced to develop app stability after the fact…

I received an email from IK that some of their software (including Amplitube) are not compatible. However Mixbox is unaffected.

  • all i know is, i bet Slash is livid right now that his signature Amplitude for iPad isn't officially supported on iOS 15 yet.

  • And Apple is like ‘welcome to the jungle’ :)

Apart from the ‘Storage Bug’ (ie. iPhone wrongly reports that the storage is almost full even with >25% free) that is only present on my iPhone 8 it’s been a smooth update so far.

Apps that support multi-tasking with the three dots can conflict wot UI elements in the same screen location (ie. the theee dots have touch priority).

So far every single audio app I’ve tested so far work as expected, AUv3’s and IAA.

Time will tell but it feels like an ok. update even on my old iPad Air 2.

    Cheers!

    iPadOS 15:

    I really hate it.

At best, they would offer an option to stay at the older layout with 5 columns.

Yeah I think anyone with a trace of a feel for layout would agree that the second layout sucks. Huge horizontal spacing, zero vertical spacing.

  • What's next someones starts complaining that the icon rows and icons in the dock are not horizontally aligned?!

  • Extensions on Safari are really cool. Just bought Noir for a dark view, and it’s really good on the eyes.

    Bye bye Firefox.

  • Much less wasted space now compared to 14 etc. If you add a widget then the space becomes more grid like again.
This aversion to a new layout is common when you aren't used to it, it will grow on you ;)

Although I really like MixBox CS, I'm finding that the rather costly desktop version of the software has occasionally severely damaged my GarageBand files to the point I have to revert to a Time Machine archived prior version to even be able to open GarageBand again. There is something seriously wrong with some of their software. I have to assume they are not following best practices in programming.

How on earth did MixBox damage files in GarageBand? Its just an effect. Maybe there’s something else going on here?

Anyone else finding that rotating the iPad rearranges your apps? On most pages the left-to-right order is at least preserved, but it seems like chunks are exchanged on my home page...

Sorry for laughing at all you scaredy cats who were afraid to update over the years. I got my just desserts, so hopefully that satisfies you.

Dude stop talking with cake in your mouth, can’t understand what you’re saying!!

People had real first world problems after updates, stop being light about it. Maybe you didn’t have any issues because the only app you ever use (Bebot) wasn’t affected.

    🤪

Bebot now has some spiffy new socks in this update! Lying.

It is possible for an effect to mess up the state saving of a DAW in a limited way. The DAW would ask for the fullStateForDocument from each of the effects and then save this. If that data returned by the effect is corrupt, it could either damage the file saved by the host or mess up the effect when it is reloaded.

I'm not saying that is happening here, just that it could happen.

    +1

I'm also liking the Applibrary that finally organizes apps based on the AppStore category and search is fast.
No need to have redundant AUv3 app icons cluttering the home screens in folders after folders after folders.

Digging the 3 dot menu as well, just wish more apps where 'split screen ready'.

My 'app cleanup' resulted in 300 apps left on my iPad Air 2 and I don't miss any of those that got deleted...
(Started with over 650 apps so it took a while to clean up and keep the 'cream of the crop').

Over all I'm very happy with iPadOS15.
On the iPhone there is one 'visual glitch' and that's the 'iPhone Almost out of storage' notification even though I have +25GB free.

    Cheers!

Yes, your screenshot makes this well visible!

After the Camera, Drive should follow.

    Apple messes things up again.

Isn't this how it behaved in ipados 13 (or maybe earlier), i.e. adjusting the number of apps per row based on the orientation?

Edit: never mind, now I see it, eek
