Barricade is a limiter and a compressor. It does shows LUFS, but I have always used the free version of Youlean for that.

Do you know enough about lufs and scale, peak etc ( short term and intergrated ) I guess for overall song measurement vs tracks ( difference in readings )

To not need paid version ?

No, free version shows it all, just put it at the end of your Master. I have no clue what the payed version will add. On my last track I used the LUFS metering from the Master Plan app.

    What do you think?

Didnt show the 3rd page or the graphs, in vid.

But theres settings for lufs for 2hrs or 5 mins etc.

Is short term lufs ( the free version )

    More accurate etc ?

Ok, so much deeper controls. I don’t think I need that.

Thats what I think ( for the price )

    Maybe

jwmmakerofmusic knows more about the controls.

I wish I knew more. I hadn't ever adjusted the controls before. 😅 I simply paid for the full version to support Youlean and gain access to the graphs.

LUFS is measured over a period of time, preferably the whole of a track. If you measure over only part of a track, the measurement could be off if other parts of the track are louder or less-loud. A LUFS measurement over a very short period of time is pretty much useless.

The idea behind LUFS is to measure overall loudness of tracks to provide some sort of standard for loudness measurement of tracks - the goal being to end the "loudness wars".

LUFS measurement can be important when uploading tracks to services such as Soundcloud that enforce a general LUFS standard. Such services may alter your upload in ways that you didn't intend if you're off from their standard. Mastering to their standard is a way to avoid that.

That’s why I do separate mastering. Bandcamp doesn’t mess with LUFS.

Bandcamp: “We don't have a recommended LUFS level for your uploads. Our encoding process will leave the audio unchanged, so that loudness level is up to your discretion. We slightly lower the default playback volume of the website player to better support a wider range of computer speakers and headphones, but that won't affect downloaded audio.”
