Obviously the long waiting time and the painful gap in this app category caused some thin nerves in the community. @Michael forgive them, we are like starving hikers in the desert seeing an oasis on the horizon but can not reach it. But guys, please respect the dev 👊 The oasis is in reach 🌴😉

We’re like little kids throwing a tantrum cos we don’t get to play with the new toy (yet)!.
Isn’t it what all this is about?. Getting excited, craving and playing with toys/music apps… It’s probably a good sign!.

@gregsmith how is the LK/Loopy Pro combo working out?. I have high hopes and expectations about that one.

    Cheers!

Fun doubles every 5 minutes! Just playing with effects on that drumloop is so much fun! It's very nice with the effect bar at the bottom. I asked myself "what will happen, when I add many effects, will they become small? But the bar just expands that's PERFECT!

    👍

You’re in luck, my friend! You can record one-shots whenever you want, there’s a timeline and there are FX! You can also host AUv3s, although currently only for recording audio rather than sequencing MIDI (the latter is somewhere on the roadmap).

Nice and one of my 'feature creep' would be to allow poly-chromatic playback of the sounds, sequence and edit the results :)
(This is why I just love Koala, BM3, Drambo etc.).

But hay, it's mainly a looper so everything else is 'extra' :sunglasses:

That matrix of 8 x 8 circles that occupies most of the left side of the screen is all loops, about half of which contain audio. The squares in the lower right are one-shots, with a few loaded - you can see the waveforms. Below the loop matrix is what appears to be a mixer, with a slider (probably volume), two buttons (mute and solo?) and two dials (pan and an effect send, maybe?) for each "channel," which is probably made up of the 8 loops stacked vertically atop the controls. To the right of each row of the matrix, there’s a button, a set of 16 pads (I think), some dials, and an XY pad; my guess is that these control effects applied to that row of loops (because of the color correspondence), and might involve transient slicing and some kind of real-time effects manipulation. Oh, and at the bottom, you can see that three Auv3 effects are loaded.

    How’d I do, @Michael? 😄

Cool, I kinda miss small optional labels on a thing or two to see what is controlling what?
That together with some kind of 'routing matrix' would make it awesome!

This is in no way intended as negative critique but rather just an observation.
(I'm quite fond of the routing in apeMatrix and AUM's Midi Matrix).

One question about the 'Slicer Pads'.

Can one set of slicer-pads be 'dynamic' ie. use a any selected pad/loop as the source?
(ex. tap-n-hold a pad/loop and tap slicer pads to assign slices from the pad/loop to it?).
What about populating pads with slices from multiple existing loops?

I guess the to-do list is already pretty extensive...
...so I'll stay put and see the magic unfold before my eyes :)

    Cheers!

It’s working well! There’s a couple of limitations but I’m sure they can be sorted easily enough.

I just tried to do a video before I go out, but totally messed it up. Will try again later 🙃

  • I really want to make a “Woohoo! I got in the second wave!” joke but I’m afraid the fallout would set the forum on fire (and result in my ban…)

  • I've been waiting for this since December or January, when I first heard about it. I primarily bought an iPad last year to be the hub of a more flexible looping setup.

But I didn't even try to sign up for the beta test because I know that I don't have time right now to do it properly.

Michael needs people who can find a bug, prove it can be replicated, and set out how and when it happens (and if possible why). He needs to know the device, the OS and whatever other circumstances might be relevant.

Presuming most of you don't test software or apps at a professional level on a regular basis he NEEDS to keep the number of people sending in reports low right now, because he has to have time to interpret, then fix what they find. And it's very possible that everyone could stumble on the same bug and he could have 20/30/40 messages all saying the same thing differently.

He's not trying to treat people differently or kill your enthusiasm or be otherwise "exclusive". He's trying to do what is best for the project to get the highest quality, tested version of the app live to everyone as quickly as possible.

Remember, Michael isn't a "team"; all the emails, all the reports, all the feedback goes to him... and he then does all the coding and investigation to get things fixed.

Give him a break and wait a few days for the beta list to expand; or wait 7-8 weeks and just buy it when it's ready and live.

The thing is, to be serious for a moment, beta testing is to iron out bugs in the app. That's it. So unless anyone who didn't get in somehow believes they have Code Vision that can comb through a beta and hunt down every bug, missing feature and issue that no one else can, then what's the problem? It's not for you. I guess... well... no. I was going to say I guess some people might feel pretty good about it but I don't really know why. Because you get to use it before others? You can't say anything other than you're in the beta. If the app is any good then we all get to use it at some point. I buy apps years after they are released. I don't feel like I missed out due to not being around on the release day or for the beta or whatever. Make something good with the finished app, then I'll be jealous.

  • wow, looks like ableton live lite audio functionality with some extra stuff squeezed into a single screen… pretty cool if still usable size-wise.
100 points to Gryffindor for customisation :)

  • @Samu you can label anything:

  • I think that might be the first time that I’ve seen labels on components of the interface. I’m not surprised that that’s included, but I’m very glad to see it.

Thanks for sharing, this will make organizing a bit easier :)

  • Perfect as a mini Ableton ‘Session View’ setup with a Launchpad Pro.

  • @Samu here is what the button pad widget can do at present:

You can only select one track to point it at. It’s fun and the possibilities to further enhance look promising.

Not convinced about that, but feel free to make the case (via email or slack maybe?)

You mean individually-selected slices from different loops? Not at this stage, but I guess if people want it, I could find a way...

  • Whew. And this is why I only opened up a limited first round group 😅

  • And here’s for something a little simpler

Just curious if the GLOW effect is so pronounced throughout the UI? It makes me feel like i have cataracts or need to wipe my screen with wipes to remove the smudges left by my 3 year old after they ate a pumpkin pie with their fingers and immediately grabbed my iPad from me.

Or is something else going on via a background material blur. Hard to have context of how the UI is showing up in these screens.

It also reminds me of Star Trek from the 60’s when they placed Vaseline on the camera lens to give the female cast that ‘feminine glow’ that was in vogue back then.

  • Hello everybody. First time I write here, even if I’ve been with you for some years now (but I don’t wanna abuse the usual “long time lurker, first time poster…)
I’m the author of this beauty:

I must say celtic_elk ALMOST nailed everything…feel free to ask questions if you have any

Making it was really easy, thanks to Michael’s VERY GOOD job on the editor (ps @Michael : when I send it to you I said it was copyrighted…you should have mention me eheheh)

Anyway, believe us: this app IS A BEAUTY…just be patient and you’ll have in your hand a wonderful app already clean from the main bugs we will find

  • Ps @Michael : yes, the buttons in the “mixer” part are for solo/mute…the only problem is that for the moment I haven’t found the option for “mute” under the “Press” menu…only solo.
Is it me or you just forgot it? ;)

  • @LostInFoundation said:

Hehe, Loopy calls mute "stop", so you'll find it in the play/stop actions

  • @LostInFoundation Glad to hear I wasn’t far off! If you’re willing, I’d be very interested to hear about the logic behind your design choices for this session. How do you see yourself using this particular set of controls in practice? And what’s going on with the pads and stuff to the right of the loops, exactly?

I am starting to get very curious about the timeline / song buildy part of this majestic beast.

You will not be disappointed. The sequencer view gives you a full timeline.
