+1 for ThumbJam and +1 for DrumJam too.
Request: If anyone knows of user-created ThumbJam instruments that are available outside of the app, I'd love to hear about it.

    Thirded 😜

Thumbjam is a wonderful app. There isn't anything else like it except for Geoshred maybe.

Drumjam is great for "world" sounds, brilliant for percussion to add to the mix

+1 for ThumbJam and +1 for DrumJam too. I was actually using DrumJam yesterday after I watched a new video by Pete Lockett on his YT channel. Both are incredibly well designed with more features than you can shake a stick at, and a very deep and powerful set of features to control the instruments, MIDI, playback, touch controls, etc. You can also import your own sounds and create your own instruments, and there's a lot of user created instruments out there that are really nice.

Seconded. I’d love some more instruments lol

Did you download all the free samples already?

Almost all of them - there were a couple that looked like ones I would not use like the Scottish Smallpipes (nothing against the, but I don't see myself using that sound).

Ah okay just thought I’d check since I have seen a couple people before not even know they were there.

  • DrumJam update???? Kit import??? Please!? Thanks!

You can use Drumjam for more normal drumset stuff too. When I saw that Yamaha finger drummer my first thought was to send its midi out into a Drumjam pad set to a drumset.

Wow - I thought that DrumJam would not play the kits via MIDI input, but it does. Nice.

As far as MIDI out, I can get the solo pads (lower panel) to send notes to another app such as BeatHawk without using an intermediary such as AUM or Audiobus, but it appears that is the only way to send MIDI out, and it only goes out one a single MIDI channel (1-16). In other words, it does not appear that the pattern playing on the kit will be sent over MIDI out. I would be glad if I'm wrong on that last part.

On the other hand, it looks like some apps will interpret the effects settings received via MIDI from the solo pads including standard ones like pitchbend, but also the crush and LoFi and maybe reverb. That's interesting. It totally mangled some of the sounds that were recorded into the BeatHawk pads with those settings tweaked to varying levels. I'm going to mess around with it a bit more to see how much it can do with those effects just for fun.

I was thinking the same thing! If I get one, that’s probably the first app I’ll use it with.

  • Long live Thumbjam!
