The locked parameters is a bit crap. The silly thing being they're all there and fully usable, they can be mapped on the MIDI mapping page, inputs just don't show up on the general UI pages. Possibly an oversight on the devs part, if an update properly disables them I'm not going to be happy. I'd rather they'd just charge what they thought they needed to and give the full version.

That said, in every other regard, absolutely stunning.

I went for the alto sax after a few videos, they all sound great but that one just hits me hard.

That could not be disabled without wrecking people's ability to share presets between desktop and iOS so I think that backdoor will remain. It's kind of a power user thing anyway, unfortunately, right? The average person doing iOS music doesn't mess much with midi mapping. > @ChiffonDoux said:

Nice term. I finally got my codes by the way and can't wait to check these out and get one or two vids up.

So happy to read this Gavinski. I had my first SWAM instrument thanks to you, I was the happy winner of my beloved Flugelhorn.

Since then, and based on your instructive videos, I have bought three-quarters of all the other instruments. Duh!...

I waited impatiently for the Woodwinds instruments (particularly the bass clarinet, bass flute, and soprano and baritone sax) praying that Gav’ would do them so much honor :)
    Thanks in advance ! 🙏

Ah, great to hear! Sorry for your wallet, but what a joy these are

The average person making music on iOS doesn’t spend loads on swam stuff. But the average musician on iOS who buys swam is very much into midi mapping imo

True enough. I didn't really pay much attention to Swam until I got my Linnstrument. The idea of trying to make do with on screen virtual MPE controllers or sequencers didn't appeal. The frustration of knowing how great these could be and stuck without any means of making the most of them, arrgh not for me.

I'm still holding off of bowed instruments, the bow being so fundamental to the expression, I don't think the Linnstrument is the right instrument for that, at least on its own.

@SpartanClownTide Please have a look at this video. This is played using on-screen midi (isomorphic) keyboard app called Velocity Keyboard.. If you feel that is has enough expression for Cello and Violin then I can share with you presets of all three (SWAM Cello, Violin and Velocity Keyboard). Some of real violin players are surprised with the articulation and expression of these SWAM instruments played with on-screen Vel-Keyboard... Let me know how it sounds to you....

BTW this is by no means promotion of my video (I do not care about the number of views etc).. This is just to show what you can achieve with just on-screen isomorphic keyboard apps like VKB and Geoshred. In fact, I have linnstrument and I found it difficult to play bowed instruments using Linnstrument..

  • Maybe - anyway, the one thing we will agree on is that these beautiful things should be available in the UI itself and not locked behind an IAP that may or may never materialize.

  • Are the saxophones jazz oriented or classical? Or some of both?

Definitely. :) I just bought the bundles. They sound and play absolutely amazingly. I wonder when sections are coming. Maybe a simultaneous desktop iOS release.

They have various presets like classical / jazz etc for most instruments from what I have seen so far. Also a really beautiful Bansuri preset for the bass flute that I love 😍

Also, I think it is time I got tc 11, keep hearing good things about it

Make sure you get TC-Data rather than TC-11 if you intend to use midi.

  • I'm confused here.......where's the BUNDLE?

  • Gav..... I don't know if there's a way......but it would be GREAT if I could pick any 3 or any 4 of the instruments and make my own 'bundle'.

I want the trumpet, but I don't really both a trumpet and fluglehorn...... and likewise, I want a basic flute, but I don't need 8 flutes.

At $20 a pop, it's a bit pricey to get the instruments I want. To be honest; the developer ONLY "groups" like instruments into bundles (5 trumpets, 6 flutes, 8 saxes, etc.)..... that's great for some who need a very rich set of trumpets or saxes or flutes.... but I really the basics from each; a singular flute and a singular trumpet and a singular sax.

I wish I could make my own bundle and get a discount.

We all wish that - I have suggested many times a greater variety of bundles with more mixed instrument types - Audio Modeling said they may do this eventually, not sure though. By the way, I will have a video on the bass flute with a giveaway up soon - will do it as a live premiere and post here when ready, hopefully in next half hour or so!

I agree you can do a lot on screen and Velocity keyboard is great, it was the last keyboard app I used and the final step to convincing me to make that huge outlay for the Linny. Boots falling off my feet, 20 year old car squicks and rattles and I spend that much on a MIDI controller. No regrets, I couldn't go back to playing glass. The Expressive E Touché in combination with a Linnstrument would be the best solution I think, though hell that costs more than buying a beginner quality violin AND cello. I'm inclined toward Jazz, funk, house, etc at the moment so bowed instruments aren't that essential to me. I love hearing them though.

Yeah, I was super excited when I saw that, even more so when I heard it!

During beta testing I couldn’t get these to work as AUv3 in Nanostudio 2. Can anyone confirm this was fixed?

Well after buying the Classic Flute I can confirm that it does not work in Nanostudio 2 just like during the beta when I reported the issue. I own SWAM Trumpet and Cello which both perform in NS2 without any issues.

  • Late to the game on this one but just splashed out on the Saxaphone bundle. Soprano Sax is one of my favourite (real) instruments. Quickly threw this together with the great Piano Motifs

  • All the iOS Swam stuff is 33% off til Nov 30th 👍

  • GeoTrumpet?

    GeoSwam 2..

  • Hi,
None of my SWAM apps advertise their MIDI out.
In other words, looking from control apps like Velocity keyboard or Geoshred, I can’t see any Swam app in the « MIDI Out » section. Am I the only one in this case please ? Thanks !
