GarageBand is the most outstanding app that I can never bring myself to use.

    Precisely and accurately stated.

Might better use this one, for iPadOS https://www.apple.com/feedback/garageband-ios-ipados.html

    Good call!

  • I love GB on iOS.

There are a lot of cool things about it such as the MIDI editing.

Stem export isn’t too complicated with any AUv3 that can do audio recording.

Drambo can make up for lack of automation to some degree too. 🙃

They've done it twice that I can recall in the modern era of Apple. Once with the release of the current gen Mac Pro and again now with the release of the new MacBook Pros. So, not likely but you've got an outside chance.

Also when they reversed their dumbest decision to date and brought back the headphone jack.

  • FWIW, I work in the UX field. Designers want to minimize for the sake of making the look as clean as possible.

People like me - usability work -- advocate to keep stuff that we know people really need.

  • And, of course, I suppose it costs less to build something without the headphone jack.

This is why the experiment with fashion designers working at NASA was so short lived. Though the rockets were so pretty without those ugly life support systems. 😁

I happened to read this the other day. I think you select the stem/track and merge. Then garageband creates a copy of the original song. You go to your songs and export the new one into audioshare. I thhhhhinkkkkkkk…. Someone will correct me where I’ve messed that up I’m sure

You can do it with every track to mass export loads at once

… apart from the bit where he accepted a perfectly working liver in replacement of the one he’d intentionally destroyed, and then went on to try to destroy that one as well.

I know addiction is a bitch but tell that to the unfortunate person who was denied the healthy liver given to Best.

Function need not be at odds with form in all cases. When something is well made it considers both.

Thnx. That’s the reason I’m trying to get Apple Garage band rep to visit here and see we struggle with it.
Why can’t they make it friendlier ?

Of course, but he made a public appeal from his deathbed for others not to be like him, along with gruesome photo.

I have issues about that also.

  • Hey there,

Is it possible to use MIDI plugins in GB? Like the Rozetta suite?

I had a go but couldn’t get it to show up.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

Per the app's description: "Rozeta is a suite of MIDI sequencers and controllers that lets you explore a new, freeform approach to sequencing and controlling mobile music apps.

The app contains 10 MIDI Audio Units (a totally new feature in iOS11) in a single package, which can be loaded in compatible MIDI AU hosts (AUM, Cubasis 2, ApeMatrix, Sequencism)."

So they should show up as AU's.

  • GB only has two time signatures so I never use it.

  • Very true @realdawei

I open it up once in awhile or make something, usually a part of a song, just to export it.

I started using iOS Garageband last week and it's actually fun. A lot of instrument sounds and drums to choose from. I'm retiring from Nanostudio 2 since it is basically abandonware.
