  • Interesting. It’s free on the App Store but you have to pay to create an account to use it. And apparently there’s a store within it too? Surprising this isn’t listed as having in-app purchases.

Is this maybe the result of the whole Epic Games lawsuit?

It’s a subscription model. That’s going to raise some eyebrows I think.

i.e it is not "free"

  • no trial - no purchase, easy B)

  • In my case: subscription - no purchase, easy B)

  • Should be more up front with the costs in the AppStore. Shady 😕

Maybe, but for sure after downloading this and getting presented with that account login and then website asking for credit card details…well that killed the AppStore for me. It’s been a good run lol.

1st party apps only from here on out.

Sweet, one less plugin I can think about buying.

  • I have for pc. Not superb but not bad at all. Payed 50 dollars for programs and a lot of packs.

On pc you can choose if you want to subscribe or if you prefer to buy the single expansion library.

  • Can't even test the app. Deleted.

This. It's fine to have any business model that you want to offer for your product, I can then decide if I'm interested. But to be coy and not declare everything up front is an instant no-go.

These kind of romplers seem to be proliferating on desktop, mostly i think as a hip hop producer tool. At least that is true of my son and his friends

I wish some if the other desktop romplers would get ported to iOS, Purity for example which has a much smaller foot print than most of the plugs of the type, i think because the instruments are mostly physically modeled. Also not to mention, one time purchase

I don’t get the business model, did anyone get past the signup to see if the monthly packs come with the subscription like Zenbeats top tier subscription, or are you still paying for the packs? Its called a store after all.

Heres the sales model that's used for the VST

  • This is the midi pack of synths.

  • Just released, but already declared as the best rompler for iOS :)

In fairness, that's actually pretty modest compared to what the forum members usually do. Hammerhead, Loopy Pro, Atom 2 etc. were declared the best ever at what they do long before they were actually released :)

In fairness all 3 had a history, according to which they were considered the best in their league/time… but I take your point :)

    I’m offended you forgot drambo

  • Yea I’ve never seen this payment process before. In the beta there was a sign up process just to get started. Plus it said 7day free trial, I was unsure about payment even though beta IAPs are free, since it was going through other sites it was confusing.

Not judging, just guessing, but maybe they did this specifically to avoid the IAP tag?

Can you just download it, leave a negative review and then delete it? Sounds like a good plan to me

Wouldn’t it be more productive to contact the dev directly and express your concerns?

  • Meh. Nothing for me. The marketing babble in the app description already turns me off… „install a sound pack, and you’re ready to make hits!“

Maybe. Usually you get a polite reply saying "Thank you for your feedback. We value your opinion and have noted your concerns". Whereas a public negative review might actually get some action.

Please note that my suggestion was half joking - hence the smiley at the end. I haven't actually downloaded the app or left a negative review.

😎👍🏼 you make a good point. Unfortunately! 😂

Customer service has made me more money than trying to sell people stuff!

But isn’t it all about “making hits”? 😂😂😂

  • Nice sounds but I'm unable to play with this app on iphone. It makes the app really not universal

Instabuy: forum meaning - a declaration of intent involving a purchase of software from the Apple App Store. The software must not be released and must be developed by a software engineer whose previous apps have been warmly regarded. Once the app's release is announced then it will be greeted with cries of INSTABUY by people who should know better.

  • Hi All!

You can purchase the plugin outright or you can do a subscription. Also, we're releasing another version that will help with the iOS purchasing issues, we're just waiting for Apple to approve. it will be $2.99 to purchase the plugin. After you purchase and sign up, your account will work on all platforms, Windows, macOS, iOS. Since we're porting directly from desktop, we're working on a lot of things to make it more mobile-friendly including the ui and purchase flow since it's very different on iOS. Lots of updates coming up!

P.S. if you've downloaded OCTANE already from the app store you will be able to get OCTANE for free after you sign up. No credit card will be needed on our end unless you want to subscribe or buy the sound packs... this is something we're still working on as well.
