Sure, but then you can't switch processes without entering a passcode. Not the most convenient solution.
I've been monitoring jetsam logs since iOS 13 and have noticed that under 15.1 a lot of apps that I never use are occupying a few hundred pages of processor memory (each). This pops out because some of them are terminated by jetsam for vnode-limit, a reason I've never seen before. So it does appear that apps are being launched in the background, and not exiting. Perhaps they need some update to be compatible with iPadOS 15. Not sure if it's related to Siri though, because I relentlessly turn off everything except "Show app in search".
I wonder if this could have anything to do with Slideover view? If I even have MidiFlow installed on my iPad, every time I accidentally slide my finger from the right-hand side of the screen, MidiFlow becomes active. I slide it back off the screen and check to see if it's running. It doesn't show up. Yet if I set my iPad aside I'll get a notification 30 minutes later that it will terminate due to no input, and the midi connection will show as available. I have to uninstall it to avoid this.
I don't think so. It sounds like you have MidiFlow in Slide Over. Remember, Slide Over can hold a carousel of apps, so you may not remember you've activated it. I have MidiFlow, and it doesn't do this.
However, I just checked a jetsam log and found AUMediaPlayer, Digitalism, apeMatrix, SoundFontsApp, StreamByter, and MusicStudio were each occupying about 400 pages (6400 KB) of memory, though I wasn't using them, and hadn't used them since the last restart. Those apps, or their data, are lurking in memory for some reason.
That’s actually just when it hasn’t refreshed. If you go to the update page and pull down from the top to force a refresh it should show up. I had to do that on my iPad Air but not my other iPad.
@j_liljedahl thank you so much for this update! I can’t tell you how much joy I get from AUM. The default folder is just a brilliant feature. I can now have electro, techno, and hip hop templates ready to go. Love the MIDI bus as well.
You are a star 💫🙌🙏👍🕶
Not sure I understand the value of the midi mix bus. What problem does this solve?
When you have several midi processors or sequencers playing a midi instrument or going the same processor . You can combine them into a single bus. It simplifies routing in some cases.
Simplifying the routing! Thank you. Of course. But will the several atoms in the midi bus be visible as separate pads on the Launchpad? Will investigate. Thank you.
In case it isn’t clear, for the midi bus, choose all its inputs. Now, you can choose that midi bus as a midi source rather than have to route each of its sources. Particularly handy when you want to switch that bus’ output between several destinations.
Make sure to name the folder exactly "Default" and put it at the top level. Then you can put any session files inside that folder.
Interesting! So, something in iOS 15 is launching apps invisibly in background without user knowing, and this messes up IAA because of the old zombie problem.
Yep, an AUM update video for dummies (like me) would be nice.. to really get the most out of this..
Thanks, Jonatan!
I love the custom names and colours for busses.
Keyboard shortcut doesn’t works for me.
Am I alone in this case?
"Also track Sustain cc64 for all-notes off". What does this mean in practical terms?
Got it :-) Thanks @j_liljedahl
I have the Apple Magic Keyboard and it works great for me.
Maybe it's this iOS bug:
There's currently an iOS bug (as of iOS/iPadOS 15.1) that breaks keyboard shortcuts after having focussed a text field in an AUv3 plugin. For example after saving a preset inside the plugin user interface. To get it working again when this happens, close and re-open the plugin window.
It means it keep track of the current sustain state, and sends sustain off when you tap All Notes Off.
I recommend anyone wanting to learn about all features to read the users guide from beginning to end! And let me know if I can improve it, if I forgot to explain something, etc: http://kymatica.com/aum/help
Will do… Thanks for the update..
excellent update. Thank you @j_liljedahl for your work and dedication.
You’re right this is an iOS bug. I currently use iOS 15.2 beta.
I can confirm that the problem occur when an AUV3 plugin steal the focus
Thanks for clarifying
This update has nearly every single workflow enhancement I needed in AUM - I am amazed.
Thanks, this helps for the next time. I use that pull down everywhere else (refreshing the weather, my kids’ attitudes, etc) it’s good to know it works for the updates page too.
Care to enumerate? I'm very happy with my AUM workflow but would greatly appreciate even more perfection.
I’ve noticed since updating that koala doesn’t always keep its auv3 state in AUM. This never happened before updating, but might be coincidence
Please add an option to maximize to the top and hide the AUM top bar.
The thinner top is super welcome! All in all a great update!
I get "out of memory" errors with koala since the update. Empty instance even.
Sigh. I've been reporting this same problem to @elf_audio regarding KoalaFX for a while and he's not gotten around to fixing it. I sure hope that it's not the same problem now with Koala...
I haven't tried 15.2 beta, sorry to hear the bug is not fixed yet. Please report to apple, the more reports the better chance they'll fix it! It happens also in Apples own GarageBand, and Cubasis, etc.
This is on my todo list! There will be three modes: resizable, maximized, fullscreen.
