Mood is a clone of the Moog Model D? I already have the iOS app by Moog and Monark by NI, do I need it anyways?

Ah and, I want to update my list. I'm not sure what should I remove, but I just bought Factory by SugarBytes and the synth sounds so so so good. For the price, it's a steal. I bought it at 14$ CAD. I don't know what is the regular price, but I think something like 28$.

  • TAL-U-NO-LX is by far the standout of the 7 apps I’ve picked up (so far 😉).. couldn’t put it down last night.. tried adding extra FX but most of the time it was just straight U-NO.. and with all the extra patches floating around, there’s a ton of great sounds available.. What a gorgeous synth! 👍 Even the default patch is so usable + rich.. it speaks to me.. ❤️ it..

  • Went on a bit of a mad spree, but of the things I bought the ones that are giving me the most initial fun are:

    1) Ruismaker Noir
    2) Ripplemaker
    3) Blackhole
    4) Rozeta
    5) strng

I bought 2 apps by Bram but not Ruismaker Noir. I already have DRM2 and Drum Computer. But if you want to convince me to buy it anyways, I probably will be easy to convince :)

I bought Mononoke, a unique drone synth and Ripplemaker. I did not buy Ruismaker Noir because at first glance it was less unique than the 2 aforementioned.

    Honorable mention: Moog Werkstatt-01
    🤩

    Tell us about WoodSynth?

WoodSynth sounds very good to my ears, warm. I appreciate this developers apps. All I can say so far is I will definitely be using this synth to make stuff!

  • I have purchased 8 cool apps. Mostly Virsyn.
But I have also just purchased Brusfri by Klevgrand I must admit it is great !
I can’t be sure I will often use ReSlice, Barkfilter, VoxSyn or any other great synth but I use very often setups that involve live audio from the iPhone mic and just realize that Brusfri makes ALL my content 3x better because everything can be properly denoised in dramatic proportions.
Yes, in my case this 3-knob app is going to be probably as worth as the most advanced synth app… 😂

This BF I picked a few things that I looked at in the past but never got. The sale prices gave me an excuse to finally buy them.

Based on only limited experience with it.. I like Mood and think it's a cool synth.

I wouldn't exactly call it a Model D clone though. It's similar to Model D is some ways. But it has the ability to do both classic analog, and make old B&W syfy-like movie sounds that ApeSoft apps often do very well.

Mood has the ability to load samples that can layered into the overall synth mix. There's also an FM section that adds another layer to the mix.

But I'll need to study it more as I still haven't figured out how to set up LFO's for modulating parameters.

    Mononoke
    Velvet Machine

My 5 "impulse buy apps" were not on sale, boo hoo:

    • Time Machine
    • Ioniarics
    • Sensual Sax
    • WebSDR
    • Touchscaper

So I stocked up on a few Bleass FX apps instead.

  • Only app I bought this time around was Hammerhead :)

I bought it too. It sounds great but the preset saving is buggy for me. Does it work on your setup?

  • @Spud When I tried saving in the stand-alone, I wanted to put it in the default presets folder of TAL-U-NO-LX (within my own folder).. Trying to get to that folder took a few tries.. every time I scrolled down my long list of apps in On my iPad, the screen would bounce back up to the top before I got down to that folder.. scrolling slow or fast didn’t matter.. I couldn’t get to that damn folder.. eventually I hit the TAL folder and it stuck.. whew.. next preset save went directly to that folder..

Did you experience the same issue?

Saving in AUM is the only option when I’m using the AU in AUM..

Even if you save your own patches in the wrong spot, you can still find them and move them into the correct folders by navigating to the patch folders for TAL-U-NO-LX in iCloud.

  • I didn’t buy any. I bought a couple of Audio Damage desktop apps, but I have all the apps that went on sale that I might want.

On mine hitting the disc icon to save a preset does nothing, but if you go to the home screen leaving the app running in the background then go back to the app the appropriate screen appears to save the preset. But to continue the next steps you have to keep going back to home screen, back to app etc.

Animoog Z unlocked. I have a feeling $10 might be the lowest we see that IAP for awhile.
FF Creative Bundle Complete, had Saturn
    Digistix 2
    STRNG
    Tardigrain

So far… eyeing up a couple more. Possibly Neon soon.

Also got loopbud since it was only $.99 and it was the only Cem app I didn’t have yet.
Bleass Compressor which is simple but sweet

  • Animoog Z - burst from the left-field, I’d only recently been playing with Animoog and thinking “if only” - besides Moog deserved some money for the freebies. A preset pack or more will likely follow.

AudioLayer - was verging on the “do I already have this covered by Drambo”, however the sound of the filters has really impressed as well as the interactive loop cross fade. So likely to be used even once Drambo can read loop points from wav files… I’m now wondering about other VirSyn synths…

ERS_DimD - seems to do the space-but-not-obvious thing, also got ERS_250 but not so sure that one will get used. DDMF sales have been rare so it was the time.

Emo Chorus - it does a thing I could well have a use for.

Ruismaker Noir isn’t a normal drum machine, it’s Bram's take on a Moog DFAM (broadly). Very, very different way of operating and very, very different results.

Some of the demo videos on YT don’t quite do it justice, in that many people are using it to make one sound at a time and using multiple instances, which (IMHO) misses the point a bit. NB a it’s a perfectly valid way of working and using it, though.

For me, the fun comes with using the modulation options etc to make it produce several different sounds at once (well, on different steps), which is very DFAM-like. Plus, unlike the DFAM (I think), it has randomisation/variation options.

Here’s a revealing video of this kind of thing done on a DFAM:

Noir will let you do similar things.

  • Ones I’ve already started using or playing with::

    Geoshred pro
    Various Nembrini amps
    strng synth
    Wave plugin for Cubasis
    Tonality

I have a bunch im excited to check out but havent had the chance yet like the Rozeta Sequence Suite.

One that Im regretting is K Machine audiovisual engine because I cant load wav files as described (not even the samples that came with the app). Waiting on the dev to reply to my inquiry. =(

I think it’s usually $17.99 in US dollars.

Mood is dope. While there are some similarities there’s plenty of difference to justify the purchase. Random Patch creator, lighter on cpu, lots of free patch banks available online, etc…

Just came here to retract this statement. It was all user error (mine) and the dev was very helpful in our FB chat.

    Hello crew!
    Finally exactly five (predicted: null):
    Baervaag, Hillman, Enkl, Jussi (Klevgränd)
And, additionally, pretty coincidentally, some organ called Hammond B-X3.
    Greetings

PS. I forgot Pads and the new Animoog Z
    Not classified yet.
