DDMF NoLimits2 coming soon for iOS!

https://ddmf.eu/nolimits2-limiter-plugin/

Just released today for Mac/Windows, and according to the page, soon an iOS version! I canNOT wait to get my hands on it! If it's nearly as good as NoLimits 1 or better AND is in similar vein to MagicDeathEye and MagicDeathEyeStereo, it'll be a real Christmas present!

Of course mate. I wrote DDMF when the iOS version will come. No reply yet, but hopefully I hear something back sometime tomorrow.

I do love TB Barricade and FabFilter Pro-L2 don't get me wrong, but sometimes I just want something simpler and quicker to use that still sounds good and still uses LuFS metering (which NoLimits2 purports to use).

Woot ! Thx for the info jwm :)

Of course mate. :) I will update further once I hear from DDMF. :)

  • I never heard back from DDMF. Does anyone know how long it usually takes DDMF to port a new VST to iOS AU?

Compressors and Limiters from various makers is a bit like different spice I guess but, I'm not the right person to do a comparison. I read this review of the desktop version and it's pretty convincing.

The first NoLimits was very useful to my mastering chain, but I preferred Barricade since it had its own metering. Barricade is a pain to see on my iPhone screen, but NoLimits2 is easier to see!

And thank you for linking that review. Now I know what nice, push, punch, and soft do exactly.

  • 🚨 If you own DDMF’s NoLimits ..LEAVE IT ON YOUR DEVICE! It has now become an iOS Gem due to it being removed and replaced with NoLimits2!

  • Aouch…no limit no bundle

Good to know. Is this new one totally stable? Does it really add much of value that the original doesn't do?

This dev has shown previously that he doesn't really seem to care much about iOS as a platform, leaving apps buggy and ignoring support requests, so I think it is important that someone checks this thoroughly and let's people know whether it is rock solid, because who knows if any bugs would get fixed, or how long it would take for them to be fixed.

I bought it and plan to use it for my next mastering session. Will report if I run into any issues.

I seriously thought that that was what your YT channel is all about.

Oh I thought you were a fan of his! I haven’t had any major issues with the apps I have from them and they always seemed at least somewhat responsive and the apps stable on my end. I wasn’t aware they had a lot of issues with their plugins on iOS.

  • My initial thoughts are: (I've tested it on guitar with kicks and snares.)

“Push” is phenomenal, especially on oversampling. “Soft” is as clean as it gets. “Punch” is really punchy, with distortion doing whatever it takes. It looks like "Nice" is a tamed version of “Punch” because the way they distort is very close to each other.

Oversampling was not too aggressive on my CPU (M2), 2x oversampling takes 1-2%, and a maximum of 8x oversampling adds 6-7% to CPU usage.

I like it very much. “Push” is fantastic, clean, and energetic. I will use this limiter frequently, for sure. “Soft” is as clean as a mountain spring. “Nice” and “Punch” look like they are two siblings, but one of them is more wild.

How does it compare to other Limiters on iOS? Barricade is my go to but also love Maxima and AU3fx: Push.

Sorry, I don’t have Barricade. I’m pretty much focused only on Pro-L regarding iOS. Limiters are like filters and compressors, it’s all about personal taste. You really need to put this through your fingers (ears).

I bought NoLimits2 because of the iPhone (Pro-L is not working on the iPhone). Many of my projects are not mastered, so I needed a quick and effective one when I wanted to show off my s*it to friends.

The chorus app is pretty bad - but he did take over that from another company. I love some of the apps but the attitude to bug fixing etc is not as good as it should be.

  • Forgot to mention also - the preset browser in the ‘Envelope’ app does not work at all for me. It was never a nice implementation but is currently completely broken - anyone else?

  • Pretty sure I reported that also, ages ago, with no response and it was never fixed

Gotcha. I’ll probably end up grabbing it just because I’ve heard so many compliments about their limiters. Barricade is generally my go to though so I doubt that’ll change. But they all have their uses, imo.

I’ve only used it in AUM and generally just use the AUM preset browser. Just checked and it’s definitely not working for me.
