May just be the classic issue of no one else reporting it or having that issue or since it’s a smaller thing it got pushed way to the back of the to do list. I use AUMs presets usually so I’m just now noticing it’s not working.
Please report it. I will also email (again!)
Will do! I set a reminder to do so tonight after I get off work
Well, when I went to master my EP, I tried the new NoLimits 2 and was left less than satisfied. None of the modes sound as clean and smooth as Barricade. So if you have Barricade and Youlean's Loudness Meter (or conversely Pro-L2 on iPad), save the money and buy Lines or something. 🤣
Thanks for reporting back. Barricade is my go to (and occasionally Push and Maxima). What is it you didn’t like? Barricade will always be hard to beat for me but I was curious about this one. was lol
DDMF is the creator of Plugin Doctor. Saying that their limiter is distorting as “Lines” is a joke and only a joke. So, Jim is probably having fun. 😂 Don’t take any comment from the forum seriously, check all the facts by yourself.
Were they saying that? I didn’t even get that from his comment lol all I took from it was that he wasn’t impressed and then said to buy Lines as a general placeholder for “buy any other app” lol. Am I missing something? 😬
Lol I probably should've been more clear. I meant to say "save the money and buy a plugin you actually want". @HotStrange understood my comment as such.
And DDMF sure did create Plugin Doctor. But he also created "ERS_250". Not gonna have a winner every time. 😉
I don't know exactly how to describe it, but for whatever reason it seems to deaden the sound even when not pushed to extremes, at least to my ears. Or maybe it's meant to colour the sound and leave its sonic fingerprint. This is just my first impression of course. Grain of salt.
It was in the context of the distortion and dirtiness of the signal. He probably doesn’t imply anything. That is what it looks like; buy true distortion Lines instead of NoLimits, haha! Anyway, who cares. It’s not that important. 😌
Ah, I get it now! I didn’t know that @hotstrange was planning to buy Lines.
But you must admit, accidentally you made the perfect roast of NoLimit, haha! 😂
The strangest shit happens when I'm high. 🤪🤣
@HotStrange bought lines when it came out 😂
Ah maybe it’s not for me then. Generally I don’t like a limiter that colors the sound in any way. I have other apps for that. I should probably stick to Barricade. I’m mostly interested purely because of the super positive reception of the first iteration.
He didn’t actually create , he took it over, but he did put it out under the DDMF name, and I’m really surprised he did, tbh
Every limiter, at some point, colors the sound. Barricade is no exception. Also, NoLimit2 can be as “clean” as any other “clean” limiter out there, if not even better. 😝
Oh yeah I get that but I like them to be as transparent as possible. The way Jim worded it made it seem like it colors the sound from the jump and you can’t tweak that away.
Have you tried it? If so what are your thoughts?
I shouldn’t even ask I don’t need this app 😂 but also I want it lol
I have already posted my thoughts. I also spent two sessions testing it in many different situations and in my workflow. You know, with an oscilloscope, looking at all the basic wave shape distortion, clipping distortion, and everything else again with different oversampling. And for last, you compare it with other limiters on your well-known tracks.
I should send a message to DDMF: “Hey Christian, a bunch of Audiobus forum musicians are claiming that your limiter colors the sound from the jump and is not clean at all. What are your thoughts about it?” Haha! 😂
Good luck getting a response 😂
DDMF stuff usually colors the sounds but it’s usually quite pleasing. The customer service not so much though lol
Sounds good to my ears with just a very limited session. I intentionally tried to get distortion into a percussion track and I liked it. Will dive in again to see what clean sounds like.
I’m sure he would love that I say do it 😂
LOL! Facts though! Probably won't get a response.
Anyways, to my ears NoLimits 2 coloured the sound. Maybe not objectively and I can be scientifically proven to be wrong, and it's probably all in my head based on first impressions.
I just think that TB Barricade sounds better to my own ears based on trying to master my "Koala Dreams" EP with NoLimits 2 first, and when I wasn't satisfied with the results, I switched back to Barricade. As the ad nauseum saying goes - "you're mileage may vary", lol.
(Then again I'm not seeking a refund either, even if NoLimits 2 wasn't what I was expecting. For instance, if I ever return to using a DAW for creating music as opposed to strictly mastering it, I'd love to try NoLimits 2 on a drum buss to fatten the sounds!)
It was a joke! 😅
Lol... I knew that when I responded, although my response was fact, I'd say 😂
Yeah, I needed to be clear before any petition for a letter started. 🫣
Too late petition is signed and now we’re protesting 😉
