Look fwd to it! Thanks!
This seriously rivals AnImoog and FabFilters for app of the year. My creativity has exploded. It’s like a Voice Memos app for vocal melody/lyric snippets and ideas, except for synths and MIDI. And great for finding and tweaking complementary synth tones.
Tip jar will be smashed as soon as it goes live.
Yes build 10, but now I can’t reproduce it in a new instance in AUM (after removing the old one). Everything working fine, sorry if my mistake, it was very late… Going in for more now, so will let you know if I hit trouble again, hopefully not. I love how fast it is to work with Midi Tape Recorder, I can lay down some loops, come here and post and be back before I’d even be up and running in other apps
@steve99
Yep love the speed of this
Before you can blink you have 4 tracks of midi running , haven’t had as much time as I hoped but it’s great
I feel at home with this
Nice! Hopefully you can get it approved in time for all those Xmas Apple gift cards getting ready to be available for deployment!
I thought I’d read it was going to be released as a free app??
See: http://uwyn.com/mtr/
Yup, free and open-source, donations welcomed!
Here we go!
@GeertBevin Best of luck. To me this this is already a success and indispensable.
Welp, I feel you. Same here 😅
Wooh, exciting! From what I’ve seen so far you’ve been doing an amazing job! The site is looking good too btw
Congrats with the release @GeertBevin
Happy Xmas!
Thank you and that's so awesome to hear
Nope, you're in
If you send me your email address, I can still add you, there's going to be other beta releases after this initial push, and it might be a while for Apple to approve this.
Thank you!
Thank you, happy holidays to you too!
You don't need to be in the AUM beta, that just adds the four independent MIDI inputs option. The default behavior of one input being routed to all tracks works great, it's just a little bit more setup and a little less convenient.
Ah good to know, I’ll send you a message! 👍
That is totally out of a developer's hands, iOS or macOS does the registration of the AUv3 component and sometimes gets it wrong or does it late. Older iOS versions have more problems with that and I seem to remember there were particular versions that were more prone to this than others.
@GeertBevin Is there a way to sort of overdub the midi input into Midi Tape Recorder? I see that I can select an area and then punch in, but can I enter some midi notes while it's looping, then overdub/record more midi notes while it's looping?
This app is really easy and fun! Thank you!
When you say overdub, do you mean have more midi data recorded together with the existing midi data in the same track? I purposefully didn't do that, ie. there's no comping. The reason is that you'll get conflicts between midi messages and midi channels.
Ok. Yeah, that's what I meant. I was trying to do the equivalent to overdubbing audio in a virtual tape recorder, but I can see how you might get conflicts. Just asking
@GeertBevin your name seems familiar. Are you the dev that did the excellent midi controller for apple watch? I ended up destroying my apple watch and didn't replace it, but I remember that apple watch midi controller was one of my favorite apple watch apps.
This was actually one of the hardest parts, since it figures out if there's any midi notes that need to be cut off or later notes that need to start again after the overdub. Just adding the midi messages on top of all the others would have been so easy, lol!
Yup, that's me! Glad you like my Midiwrist app!
It's literally the ONLY thing I miss about my apple watch. It was sooo cool to have my iPhone set up with some synth, bluetooth headphones, etc. in a coffee shop, and being able to control the synth from the dial on the apple watch.
For those who get apple watches and apple gift cards for xmas, pick up this dev's hidden gem MidiWrist. It's a freakin' blast!
