What is the maximum pitch ben range SampleWiz2 supports? In one of the videos, I saw it has a pitch bend range adjustment wheel. But could not read the maximum it can go. Any info on this will be helpful

Pitch Ben would be a pretty good artist name tbh

    :sunglasses:

The pitch bend wheel range can be set to max 12 semitones but you can also use MPE to bend the pitch beyond 12 semitones in MPE glide mode.

This thread is classic AB Forum stuff. Great work guys 😂😂😂

I'm enjoying it as much as anyone else lol but please not let us kid ourselves. Jordan is a big star within his scene, and this collab will be good for him, BLEASS and iOS in general! The AB Forum consists of a tiny smattering of iOS music makers 🤣

See the 'merry Christmas' thread for details! But thank you Oat. Especially coming from such a discerning soul / harsh mofo / thuthsayer as yourself I really appreciate it 😂

Do you have the app? What’s your take on it compared to FRMS etc?

@eylvy Thanks for your video! What is going on at 2:40 mark? How is it triggering sample parts outside the loop displayed? Is that “motion” modulation of sample offset? I enjoy playing with the sample start and end like you were doing in the previous section of your video… lots of fun there. I do wish those were modulation targets (only sample offset is)… Hoping in a future update. Anyway from the hand manipulation it seems the program would be robust enough to handle it.

Playing mostly live in this part. randomly playing all the vocal parts except the first.

I have the same question - I’m not sure what makes this unique or different from other samplers.

I would say ease of use.
Though it only has one sample layer, it does
have a really straightforward effects section.

I suppose if you have Koala Sampler or sEGments combined
with several other effects you could get similar results but
you won't get the sound being mapped across the keyboard.

You could get the looping motion happening using
Drambo and use Bleass' Granulizer but not everyone
wants or needs to build their own thing.

The inbuilt presets do provide a nice palette
    except for the speaking presets.
    There's too many of them.

What I also like about is that it does what I thought Spacecraft was going to do.

  • I’m actually very curious now to try Spacecraft (and revisit tardigrain and others) because the granular on tap in samplewiz 2 feels very light (vs my expectations)

  • Spacecraft is a whole different other adventure.
In regards to the granular being "very light" in SampleWiz ii?
Agreed, it is but it does have it's uses for sure.
The presets sit well in a mix and for quick sampling into effects
the only other one comparable that I'm currently aware of is
AudioLayer which I've just finished importing some drums into.

  • I’m loving samplewhiz in sample mode. For my old school, chorded, slowed down samples way it work’s perfectly. Thankful for the drive on the filter. My basic patch needs are met…. Modulation/MPE/aftertouch lowering the low pass cutoff while also boosting drive… and polyphonic LFO to pan….. mwah! Perfect!

  • Does this thing have the modern mode like Samplewiz 1?

  • @bleassapp in SampleWiz 2 It's next fricking impossible to accurately set loop point on samples and the app also ignores loop and tuning meta-data embedded in *.wav files when they are imported.

Please add at least an option to use zero-crossing when setting the loop start & end as crossfade doesn't work on all types of sounds and creates unwanted 'pumping'.

Don't know what's planned for the future updates apart from Soundpack IAPs but I do hope the engine' and sample editing gets more polish over time...

    Cheers!

  • @eylvy video had me pretty convinced but still haven’t pulled the trigger?

How is ‘whiz due’ on DSP/cpu? A question I hate asking repeatedly but I’ve had to use lighter apps or less of them as my iPad ages…

    I'll recommend it.

I've been having fun loading up samples from my
collection and I've been having a whale of a time.

    It's already on several tracks.
If it had time stretching, which many have been hinting at, it would be perfect.
    I would say get it.

I wish it had live input and that we were able to process
incoming audio so I'm thinking I may go for the Bleass Granulizer next.

    Their website says this...

    • In standalone mode, capture samples directly from your iPad’s or iPhone’s mic, or from an external soundcard if you have one connected.
    • When used as an AUv3 plugin effect, record from any track the plugin is assigned to, whether the track is an external source or an AUv3 instrument such as BLEASS Alpha Synthesizer.

Are you talking about something else?

    Yeah.

SampleWiz ii can record the live input but it doesn't process the live input.

DSP is around 23% when running the app triggered by MelodyBud on AUM - on a 5th gen iPad.

  • I'm thinking about getting this, while it still has a reduced price (5 Jan last day). So how do you like it? I'm asking those that bought it already, and had time to play with it.

Also, I'd like to find out some practical things, and wasn't able to find the answer:

    • is there audible aliasing when pitch shifting in the higher octaves?
    • is the folder that contains the recorded samples visible / accesibile directly? (I mean through the files app)
    • did you encounter any problems or unexpected behaviour? (how robust is it?)

    Thanks!

  • @Strigoi said:

    >

    • is there audible aliasing when pitch shifting in the higher octaves?

Perfectly usable for most cases and quite well 'masked' if/when it occurs, naturally it depends on the frequency content of the source sample.

It's easy to intentionally provoke any pitch-transposition algorithm when needed unless it uses extreme oversampling.

    • is the folder that contains the recorded samples visible / accesibile directly? (I mean through the files app)

No but you can easily import/export any sample from/to your favorite location when using the stand-alone.
AUV3 only has import and recording. (This 'way' is needed in order to seamlessly share content between stand-alone and AUv3).

    • did you encounter any problems or unexpected behaviour? (how robust is it?)

It's been stable and working quite well, just a minor annoyance that there seems to be no way to sample-accurately set the loops and it ignores loop-metadata in *.wav files when imported...

    Thanks!

Other than that I'm happy with SampleWiz 2.

  • For anyone who is reading this because they are curious about the app but don’t own it yet, BLEASS just sent me some codes to giveaway. I’ll give some away on Patreon and some to people watching the stream later.
