    Great video.

    Great video.

Thank you for watching Simon, much appreciated. ✌️

Stupid question but I can’t find the answer anywhere. If I’m importing a synth sound and want it spread out correctly across the Keyboard which note should I load?
I can’t work it out, I also don’t understand why C5 is the starting point when on most synths it’s C3.

  • edited January 2022

    BLEASS C5 = apeMatrix C4 = AUM C4 = Drambo C3 = MIDI Note 60 (aka middle C)

    Get it?

  • I’m a bit disappointed with the granular sample part. SampleWiz sounds like a semi granular synth to me. It isn’t capable of producing a super rich smooth sound without using any FX. The granular part needs a lot more density and overlap on the grains to make it sound smooth and rich. I think I’m a bit spoiled by the great sounding Ipulsaret.

  • would there be a reason to use Samplewiz 2 for One-shots specifically, as opposed to another sampler like Audiolayer, FRMS, Chameleon, or Segments?

Though you can use it for one shots such as drums etc
I wouldn't recommended it unless you're after a particular sound.
I find it more useable for sounds such as chords and pads.

The best thing to do would be to simply try it.

for sure, I should have specified "melodic" one shots. I have tons of packs that include one-shots and haven't found the best way to employ them. I absolutely want to, the 20$ price point is a lil daunting atm.

Ahhhh, for melodic one shots certainly useful.
At that price point I would actually go for something else.
At the intro price it was a bargain but at that price as you say
I would go for Audiolayer or even dRambo.
Both Audiolayer and drambo don't have granular effects
but saying that both have very sophisticated sample playback and effects.

Also if you already have an app that does one shot sample playback
then why not get the Other Desert Cities app and use them in series
for a granulizer effect or why not get NuRack?
Again you won't have the granulizer but you'll certainly have
a swathe of effects to play around with at half the price.
It mentions audio playback in the App Store description
and you'll loads of effects to tweak etc.

NuRack is half the price at the moment.

I also have Segments and I'm having a look to see what it can do.
Admittedly I've had it for awhile and I haven't actually delved into yet.
So this is a good excuse.

    One moment.
    Back soon.

    Segments is actually rather cool
Though I don't have the Supercharge edition
it does have a somewhat passable time warp.
It only has Reverb, Delay, Crush and Filter on
the effects side of things but it does seem to be quite fun.
You'll have to use something else to modulate it though
which is one of the strengths of Sample Wiz ii.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this now that it’s been out a while? I love Bleass and own over half their apps, but haven’t taken the dive on this one. I already have FRMS, which is similar, but Samplewiz seems to have a unique sound all its own. And those amazing Bleass effects.

It has a great selection of presets. I feel like it doesn't ask me to build the project around the preset as much, or take me in a specific musical direction. More of a "versatile toolkit of neutral timbres" vs. "ooh that sounds interesting, that's like a song already".

Thanks! I’ll probably end up buying it sometime in the near future. All the demos do sound excellent and does seem a bit more immediate than FRMS.

  • @HotStrange

    Comparisons aside.
SampleWiz ii is a really lovely playable instrument.
When I first got it, I loaded up some melodic one shots, played with
the modulations and effects and got some really nice sounds happening.

I still haven’t used the presets.
I actually want to delete them but I can’t.

    @taeo
I would say wait until Bleass has a sale which they do often enough
and get it then as the price seems daunting for you right now.
It’s lightweight, really playable as an instrument, it can glide between notes
and it’s straight forward when wanting to load up one’s own sounds
or you can sample whatever comes in at the input stage

Yeah, users who like granulizers find it limited and I do wish
it had timestretching across the octaves but as an instrument?
    It’s cool.

Thanks for that. Bleass have some really great interfaces. It’s one reason I love their stuff so much. FRMS has a busy interface, which isn’t horrible, but I’d love to mess with Bleass’s take on it. I have their granular effect app and it’s brilliant.

    No worries.
I also like Bleass’ interfaces and they keep their
design style across their apps which is also really cool.
I’ll most probably get FRMS as well but I’ve got more than enough to play around with.
    That’s what I’m currently doing.
Listening to a track whilst I type this. 😁

Agreed. Makes it easy to pick up a new app of theirs and find your way around quickly. I can’t recommend FRMS enough but I’ve still barely scratched the surface. Lots to unpack there. Luckily it seems to go on sale somewhat often.

    Thanks for the recommendation.

  • So another update to SampleWiz 2 just dropped ballooning its app-size up ~50%...

@bleassapp For the love of higher powers please do make new IAPs DLC(Downloadable Content) and do NOT bundle them inside app! (Personally I have ZERO interest in additional sample content for a 'sampler' when I can sample on my own).

And while you're at it fix/add Y-Axis velocity for the on-screen keyboards in Omega, Alpha and SampleWiz 2..
(It's practically impossible to preview how velocity affects the sound using the on-screen keyboard).

    Cheers!

  • Tell me, but you can’t record from the built-in keyboard? Maybe there are some moments with routing? Tried in AUM Cubasis the signal from Bleass is not received for midi recording

  • @Samu are you sure that the App Size has increased? It shouldn't: all IAPs are external samples to be downloaded.

Velocity features on the BLEASS Synths are set to control external keyboard velocity only.

Finally, SW2 is not a midi controller: you have to use the keyboard from the DAW you use.

  • @bleassapp said:

    Ok, good to know...
Yes the installed 'app size' increased from roughly 190MB to 396.8MB on my iPad Air 2.

There was a similar incident with Geoshred from another dev. In that case resources that were not used by the app were left in the app bundle which made the app bundle size balloon from ~200MB to >1GB.

Velocity features on the BLEASS Synths are set to control external keyboard velocity only.

Good to know, I'll have to use an external control-app then...

It does make it quite tricky to create sounds on the go especially in Omega where velocity->envelope is used to control modulation depth thus a Y-Axis velocity control (which is present in many other synth apps) could be a handy addition.

Finally, SW2 is not a midi controller: you have to use the keyboard from the DAW you use.

Then remove the MPE keyboards too if it is as you say that it's not a 'midi controller' :sunglasses:

Don't get me wrong I love the BLEASS apps and have a kinda 'Love & Hate' relationship with them...
...so some 'harsh love' in hopes to improve them is to be expected :smirk:

    Cheers!
    /Samuel

  • Thanks for your feedback!

  • Anyone have the Mika preset pack? Impressed by the 5 free presets ...

  • Or can anyone comment on any of the preset packs ? Any of them better than others? Just got Samplewiz and am enjoying it more than I thought I would!

I got the Mika guitar preset pack and there are indeed some tasty sounds in there, especially the E-Bow ones.

I've started to use SampleWiz 2 for its direct and simple workflow when importing samples, however I'm super disappointed by its polyphony which is limited to 5 notes! 😥 It's not of much use for me. Anybody noticed that? Thanks!

  • Buying this this weekend but had a few questions…If I’m using it as an AUV3 in GarageBand on my iPhone, can I use the GarageBand built in keyboard to record into SampleWiz 2? Like say I was using poison 202…would it get loaded into SW2 for me to tweak the holy hell out of? I don’t have an external controller so that’s why I’m asking . Also, can I import my own wav files into SW2 to fiddle with?

  • SampleWiz 2 for Mac/Win just landed. $49 on offer, down from $69. I've been waiting for this.

SampleWiz 2 for iOS is also on offer as part of the launch promo.

  • Just a quick question to all 'BLEASS Fanatics' (I'm personally starting to get really fed up with most of their apps).

Is there any simple way to make the LFOs produce uni-polar output in for example SampleWiz 2?

Let's say I want to do simple filter modulation and set start cutoff and want the LFO of to go go UP instead of 'hoover' UP/DOWN around the cut-off point? (This would easily be solved with uni-polar LFO output..).

Currently I have to 'depending on modulation depth' manually set the cut-off point and repeat this every time I increase the modulation depth like seriously?

In 2023 LFOs should have the option to set the start-phase and toggle between uni/bi-polar output...
    ...It's no rocket science...

    Cheers!
