Elephant in the room question: Where is “ Fundamental1 and 2 iOS users will have discount at sonicLAB”???

From the horse’s mouth: “ just reach [email protected] and we will start delivering the discount coupons this monday..”

No idea whether you’ll need to show proof of purchase or something else.

    Thank you!

Just email [email protected] and tell him you have both Fundamental and Fundamental2. Don't know if there are any checks on validity but I got a code in a couple of hours.

    Here’s what they told me:

    “ Hi

Existing Fundamental iOS users who purchase the new Fundamental2 iOS as well are offered a $20 USD discount on any purchase in the sonicLAB webshop, and not on the AppStore. AppStore is run by Apple, there are no discount codes on the AppStore.

    best wishes”

I am baffled by this. Why not offer a bundle of Fundamental 1 & 2 where the buyers of version 1 get a 50% discount, say? Plenty of other developers have done exactly this.

I have to say - I feel the same -

While having purchased Fundamental 1 in it`s early days - one felt like a beta tester who had to pay for the gratitude to test an non-tested „iOS-format-app“ —-

Some quirks got solved - others haven’t —- since then - and it still doesn’t feel like a „very optimized“ app for the Ipad-screen - not to speak of the preset system ...

And now - not to offer a real upgrade bundle for existing users of ... just makes me speechless ...

And no - 20 Euro Bonus on the Webshop for desktop apps - is not at all a benefit for an Ipad musician ...

However - i will write an email to the develeoper - asking for another solution -

and if the current solution is his final word about it - I will kindly skip his products from now on - no matter how nice they are to play with .-.. - but this just feels „not nice“ at all ...

Good luck with that - seriously! My experience is that Sinan is a difficult developer to deal with. Very protective and unwilling to compromise or change his apps or marketing approach. There's a relatively serious / annoying issue with the MIDI mapping of the x-y pad that controls the morphing on the desktop version of Fundamental2 - he's got the y-axis mapping reversed (he's assumed the 0,0 point of the pad is at the bottom left rather than where it should be - top left) so using a hardware controller is a nightmare! No matter how I've tried to explain it to him he just doubles down and says that the hardware is to blame. It got to the point that he simply ignores my emails now. I'll leave you to decide if you want to try to deal with him....

    Yeah, developer seems defensive

  • Well, I've had my eye on Fundamental, but after what you write I'm unlikely to try this app.

  • I had the same bad experiences after buying Fundamental 1. I gave the developer a lot of feedback in a positive way, but the replies(for so far he replied....) were not friendly and sometimes even offensive. Fundametal 1 had scaling problems in AUM for so far I can remember. The developer was not willing to do something about that. So, Fundamental 2 not for me.

The scaling issue in AUM and Audiobus has been resolved but not in ApeMatrix.

Despite the issues it is a very cool app, very few apps like it on iOS apart from AU GEN X.

He had a previous bundle with the Passbot/Volbot/F1 so I'm expecting he might at least add one with Passbot/Volbot/F2.

There was such a bundle a day or two ago, but it’s disappeared.

Certainly, I generally like the design and what I hear on youtube videos, so I will probably test it at some point.

    Right!

  • Ah refund received in short order. Feels good man. Love the idea of the app, but the execution is crippling, at least on iOS.

  • Despite the gui issues with the sonicLab apps they are all excellent and original plugins. Once you get into MPE with Fundamental it reveals new depths with it.

In some ways maybe it's best that the new app is separate as it's more CPU intensive and wouldn't work well if updated on some ipads. I do hope a bundle is added sometime though :)

same here. too many bugs to take a chance at that price.

  • The bundle is back on, with Fundamental 2 instead of 1. Still no bundle for 1 & 2.

  • I have to review my o[inion.

Tried for pc. Got a problem (my bad), wrote to Soniclab, they fixed it in 35 minutes. They also gave me a 20 dollars vai her and I bought fundamental 2 for pc.

    Played three hours e yesterday.

It is a work of love. I really appreciate it and the dev this time was super supportive and friendly.

Ended up buying also for iPad.

The older I get the less reluctant I am to just blurt out my opinion. This F2 is a shitstick lollipop that obviously tastes, smells and looks like shit to an F1 owner. These guys can lick my balls. I'm buying something else. Vote with your wallet I say.

    🤣🤣🤣

    The app is good.

If You own fundamental 1 you can skip version 2, but if You never tried it is a really nice experience.

Just made a granular drone track in Vcv rack II and the back morphing sound is Fundamental II.

    🤟🤟🤟

;) If I'm basing my opinion on v1 I have no doubt you are right. It is not without it's issues though and there are no doubts v1 buyers were to some degree paying beta testers. And now, to have v2 released with what I would not consider a major version upgrade, and expected to pay full price like v1 never existed, is a slap in the balls, kick in the face, whatever. Personally, I feel these guys have no respect for their customers. I'll take their v1 customers don't exist and counter with sonicLAB don't exist!

Bravo. That is almost Lutheran in its vivid imagery.

@Charlesalbert Fundamental is a fantastic app, I just don’t think the V2 is adding proportional value.

UI scaling issues from the first version still exist 🤦‍♂️

Typically the beauty of making an app for iOS/iPadOS is taking advantage of the multitouch surface. HOW MIGHT Fundamental become more interactive within the iPad environment? Maybe sectioned off so that the controls can be bigger, swiping left and right to navigate? Maybe adding some type of touch modulation tool like XY or an on screen MPE keyboard or pad? IJS

I love Fundamental, it sounds fantastic but I feel there are so many opportunities to enhance the user experience and generate more users, buzz and income. Not only that, customer loyalty comes from listening to them. Combine the developer’s background with an awesome UX/UI and fruitful feedback management system: Fundamental becomes a must have app 🤩

Look at Borderlands, Samplr, Animoog and Geoshred to just name a “few”; each app is a hit and takes advantage of the multitouch surface to make something special!

    That’s my two cents.

  • Not every plugin app released on iOS can be designed soley with touch screen in mind because then it's not as viable a product for the desktop, that's just the way it is in this market unfortunately.
V2 does look like it works well with touchscreen morphing though, but I don't have it to confirm this, not sure I will get it either yet.

That’s understandable, although it seems that Fundamental could have a touchscreen version. Maybe that is too costly to develop, so the developer opted to simply port the desktop app to the iPad, but it is definitely a missed opportunity. I truly feel Fundamental could be a much bigger deal!

Scaling is a huge deal as well and this app has been a struggle for many users in that regard.

  • I was looking at Fundamental like a day or two ago after seeing a video on it, searched in the app store and almost purchased before stumbling across this thread and seeing the complaints, plus the fact that a version 2 was out. Pretty confusing to have 1 and 2 listed simultaneously for the same price and with apparently minor differences. This thread kinda put me off picking it up, but it seems like a very interesting app.

He's primarily a desktop developer, but maybe he'll work more towards putting in touchscreen stuff in the future, lets hope so. V2 certainly looks like it has the touch screen in mind a bit more this time. :)

The scaling issues have been difficult to acommodate for different devices. Quite a lot of developers have had problems with this in the past including Sugar bytes, but they eventually worked out how to scale their apps. He might learn more about iOS in time which probably has a lot of different coding issues than desktop...For now I'm happy that the functionality is there at least in his apps.

Bear in mind that the code you'll get for $20 store credit if you own both Fundamental 1 and 2 for iPad is only valid for 48 hours so don't ask for one unless you're going to use it in the next couple of days...if you've already got one that's invalid you can get a new one by emailing the Soniclab support address.

Wowzers! You have to own both apps to get a code?
