Easily.. Just connect and you are ready. Mg10xu works with adapter only from mains, so you can connect ipad/iphone directly via cck
Hello and happy new year,
I have no computer in my setup and i use hardware instruments only.
Currently my midi setup is :
Instruments + octatrack + recorder -> iconnectmidi4+
And my audio setup is :
Instruments -> octatrack -> hardware recorder
What i'm trying to achieve is put the ipad instead of the recorder, with auria, the same way it would be used if it was a pc's DAW.
My needs are 2 analog audio inputs to receive from the octatrack + midi i/o.
I realize i could grab a roland duo capture ex, connect the octatrack audio outs to the inputs of the duo capture, and connect the midi i/o to the iconnectaudio4+. The only bummer is the fact the duo capture won't load the ipad.
Is there another better option out there ?
I've been waiting for the iconnectaudio4+ But these things take forever to release. I wonder also if there will be any easy way (like usb) to sync an iconnectaudio4+ and an iconnectmidi4+ together, rather than burn midi ports, so they would expand each other.
Any suggestion is welcome!
I'm looking for an iPad interface where I can plug in both my USB MIDI keyboard to control BeatMaker 2, and my guitar to run through AmpKit, both of which I want to send to Loopy via Audiobus. I've been searching in circles for a while now and was hoping for some guidance. I also have an Apogee JAM, so could potentially plug into an interface via USB.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
The Beringher UCA222 $29 at amazon does the job and its self powered thru iPad. Just get a cheap Usb hub(no power adapter needed), and also get the CCK(Camera connection kit) adapter. It works. For me it powers my interface, ND the Axiom Air mini 32 midi controller. All three connected to iPad with no external power.
That's perfect, thanks so much for the quick reply!
if you buy a powered usb hub, that is still a good idea for future use. Most work with or with out power.
Hello, I have a question about UCA 202 / 222 inputs. I have iPad air, ckk and midi controller connected to USB HUB. I would like to know if is it possible to connect two microphones SHURE SM57 into UCA202 through rca inputs in order to record audio into iPad. My aim is to record voices and looping them with Loopy HD using traditional microphones with XLR out. Thank you
Yeah it is possible but you will need a preamp for that. So I you get a simple two channel mixer with xlr ins that should work. You then would send the outs of the mixer to the ins of the UCA222 and record.
If you were to get the Behringer Q802USB (the smallest with 2 XLR inputs) you can plug its USB straight into your hub/CCK. The USB part is basically the same as the UCA222. The Q802USB goes for about $80, the one without USB is only $15 cheaper.
Or of course you could go for a different interface altogether, one with just two XLR ins and no mixer. But these tend to be a bit pricier and higher quality. Like the Focusrite 2i2 for example.
Yeah that's is good advice. I was going to go that route, but then I thought about the UCA not needing any external power. So its about choices. If I had the chance I would go for the q802 as it already has a built in mixer.
I was about to order a UCA222 but i'd of read of background noise issues, is it just ground noise/computer hum? I'd be looking to connect a dsi mopho to sample stuff and i also want to upgrade the Airs lineout for something better. I'm waiting for the ic4+ audio like others so no point spending more on an interface. Cheers!
I recorded an acoustic guitar with built in preamp and there was zero noise or hum or any interference. The noise I encountered was only when I recorded my electric guitar not using a preamp. But, it was only happening on the headphones cause the noise was not there on the actual recording once you pls it back, there was zero noise. So I think since the output level of an electric guitar is not hot enough, I had to pump the input levels of tonestack big time, creating the unwanted noise. But, I think it really is a great buy!
That was fast, thanks! I was coming back to ask about latency as i'm just reading Amazon reviews and some have mentioned this issue but again i think that's on the PC side.
Seems perfect for an inexpensive way to get audio in and out could be as a useful DAC.
Yeah, I read most of them plus all the advice from our friends here. So for 29 bucks couldn't resist. It really works and you can tell the sound difference thru the built in headphone out with vol control. I used at church last week already connected it to the DI running Z3TA!
Here is a small demo i just recorded with a TELE directly connected to the UCA222 with out a preamp. I used the low output neck pickup. Use Tonestack a preset i made with Chorus. I did have to increase the input in Tonestack to compensate for the low input volume coming from my guitar. But it worked just fine. Recorded in stereo into Auria.

Sounds good, nice quality but i think i can hear some subtle background noise or modulation on the recording but that may be the chorus. I'd forgotten about the NwAvGuys blog, a good source of info on stuff like this and headphone amps with tests and everything. :P

Yeah there was a bit of hiss because I had to raise the input level in tonestack a lot in order to get a hot enough signal. I will try to use my G3 and send that into the UCA and see.
The modulation was from the chorus effect.
That blog is excellent but it hasn't been updated for a few years. Bummer.

it seems really nice behringer Q802USB. But it has the same fuctionalities of UCA 222? and how it is sound quality?

That's impressive, how many dB? I'm just thinking how much it will be amplified when I start to add things like distortion. Hiss has been mentioned a few times in relation to the UCA222 but that's not bad at all, i'd expect with most interfaces.
@miguelmarcos yeah good source but hasn't he got it backwards re the impedance needing to lower to driver higher impedance cans? I need an amp to drive the HD600s but can easily drive my SRH940s from the iPads lineout.
@ello5446 the main differences i can see are price and more inputs if you're connecting condenser mics, instruments etc would be better.
The only thing the mixer lacks that the UCA has is the S/PDIF Optical Out. Otherwise it is the same circuitry in a mixer package.
@musikmachine, a headphone amp of his own design is sold here:
http://www.jdslabs.com/products/35/objective2-headphone-amplifier/
Are you referring to that?
With distortions and everything louder, then I adjust the inputs and use the noise reduction pedals in Tonestack. They work really great!
The headphone out is really good also. It powers my Hesh2 headphones loud enough. But I also bought this headphone amp from amazon. What a great deal. This tiny thing is built like a tank!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003M8NVFS/ref=aw_ls_1_1?colid=2EL11J8BNQRTP&coliid=I3ISIDEV8EVODR
With leaving Tonestack input controls at default or at Zero, I was registering an input level of around -20 in Auria. So crancking it up accordingly in Tonestack produced a higher signal level in Auria.

I'm waiting for the AudioConnect +,it should be here by the end of Febuary apparently...
Hi there.
For about $150 you can get the IK Multimedia's iRig PRO, a compact audio and MIDI interface you can use with your XLR microphones, your guitar and bass, your keyboard or other line-level source and your MIDI controllers.
Cheers!

No he talks in the blog article of the UCA222 being insufficient to drive low impedance cans but fine to drive 80-600ohm more efficient cans!!! It sounds like there's another aspect to consider when it comes to matching but it's a new one on me. Low impedance = more efficient and easier to drive.
@Musikman4Christ thanks for the info.
Anyway! It's also possible to mod the UCA202/222 so it's upgradeable: http://www.instructables.com/id/Behringer-UCA202-UCA222-USB-Soundcard-headphone-/
What the hey, gonna get one.
Is anyone using the UCA222 for digital output from the iPad? I'm looking to use Modular and Gadget as realtime "external software plugins" for my DAW, so to speak. I want to be sure to bypass any D/A & A/D conversion for getting audio out of the iPad and into my Mac Pro DAW. I prefer realtime synchronized jamming, otherwise I would just record their tracks into Garageband and drop them in as .wavs
What I have in mind is using a core midi interface, and a UCA222 both into iPad via powered usb hub & CCK. iPad accepting sync and sequenced notes via midi from my MacPro's midi interface, and then sending optical s/pdif output from the UCA222 back to the MacPro's optical s/pdif input. From my research, this should work fine in theory.
But is anyone using the UCA222's optical output with iPad? Need to confirm it works. Thank you.
That's exactly what the iconnectmidi allows you to do or have you considered that?
I just got mine anyway and the improvement in SQ is really surprising, maybe i've got a negative bias towards Behringer but the iPads lineout sounds muddy in comparison although NwAvGuy did say it reminded him of his Benchmark!
I can really hear the sub bass now and easily able to pick out little details i wasn't really noticing before in Gadget and i already thought it sounded good but now i'm feeling it! Oh yeah and no audible hiss via the headphone out even at maximum volume.
I'd say this is an essential add on for iPad if you're doing audio, big step up from the lineout for a small outlay, can't wait to run some synth and vocals through some fx chains!
Yes, the 222 optical works into a Mac.
