  • im gonna get yamaha mg10xu, it has ipad compatible audio interface. But i need one more simple but good audio interface with stereo out so i can add macbook or iphone to the mix
    what should you buy, please?

  • Can you say more about the MG10XU? Sounds great.

  • Dont have one in hands yet. From what u understand i can use it with ipad as 2/2 interface plus builtin 10ch mixer.

Need to figure out how to add midi and second dac

  • add MIDI

If you have a USB keyboard use a powered USB hub to connect both midi and mixer.

  • Yeah, i ment original midi to add volca

  • Will get one

  • Just an update: You cannot simultaneously use an audio interface with the CCK and charge using the DockStubbz+ power pass-thru adapter. It's one or the other for now.

  • I am looking at interfaces but should i be able to connect a desktop konnekt 6 with the apple firewire to thunderbolt adapter and a thunderbolt to firewire cable? Or is there a lightning to firewire adapter? Could save me the cost of a new interface but i can't find much info on it.

  • FYI

    iConnectivity

iConnectAUDIO4+ production pilot finally on its way - just a few more tests and then mass production!

I've never heard of a firewire audio interface working on iOS. Class-compliant USB is required.

    Hello,

I did a lot of research but still can't find better solution for my setup.
I have a zoom r24 multitrack/audio interface with jack and xlr input. Can I record the ipad into computer DAW through zoom interface with XLR-mini jack adapter ? like this one http://www.thomann.de/it/cae_adapterkabel_xlrminiklinke.htm
I found also a dock connector to XLR http://www.markertek.com/product/ses-ipod2-audio/sescom-ses-ipod2-audio-ipod-dock-connector-to-left-right-xlr-male

Which one of the two solution is better in term of audio quality ? Or should I buy anyway a dedicated iOS audio interface ? like focusrite or roland duo.
    Thank you very much!

Something like this would be better: http://www.thomann.de/it/behringer_ucontrol_uca_202.htm
BUT you will also need the Apple CCK (camera connection kit).

I don't know very much about it but you might also look at Apollo (https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/apollo-sound-injector-streaming/id912136793?mt=8) and similar streaming techniques.

Wow! It seems really cool! I'm gonna try it. Perhaps, I think it's most useful for sketching song ideas. it seems that there is no possibility to sync with tempo project, so adding new tracks on existing project it will be difficult?

Thanks, KDub. I've been looking at the feasibility of connecting my Zoom R8 to my iPad 3 for awhile. Yours was the first and only post I've been able to find that confirms the possibility of doing that. (Seems funny that Zoom would want to keep that capability a secret.) I've got a CCK on the way and a powered USB hub available. As soon as the CCK arrives, I'll put the connection to the test.

Besides all of its standalone capabilities as a multitrack recorder and rhythm machine, Zoom R8 used with a powered USB hub and CCK is an excellent choice for a 2x2 interface. It also has built in mics, channel 1 has a hi-z switch for guitar and bass, both inputs take either 1/4 inch or XLR and phantom power switchable. Most of all it can provide 24bit 96khz recording to your iPad and the preamps and headphone amps are good quality.

  • Too bad the R16 and R24 are not also Class Compliant, so thy don't work with Pads.

I'm happy to report that my Zoom R8 connected to my iPad 3 as KDub described using a CCK, a powered USB hub, and setting the UAC Class to 1.0 as described on page 35 of the Zoom R8 Audio Interface Manual located here:

    http://www.zoom.co.jp/download/E_R8ai.pdf

    Thanks again, KDub.

  • UAC 1 or 2 works on my iPad Air.

Anyone know if the ART USB dual pre non tube one, with 9volt battery, works with iPad Air and no USB hub? Anyone has this unit?

Thank you very much for sharing this. Do you think that I can connect als my zoom R24 to iPAD using CCK?

You could take the L+R analog outputs of the R24 into two line inputs of any iPad-compatible audio interface. For example, the Behringer UCA202(or 222) is inexpensive and works direct into an Apple CCK (camera connection kit), i.e. no additional USB hub is required.

EDIT: The point is that the R24 is not class-compliant and therefore cannot be used as a direct audio interface for the iPad.

  • Well... you can always take analog inputs, right? Maybe I'm not getting it.

    Ok, I understand!
so I need to convert iPad signal into behringer and after go into ZOOM. Thank you very much!
And the sound it will be good for recording?

  • Got it. I guess it isn't ideal. But listen to it :)
