Thanks @Processaurus !!!! I'll hold out for a used Roland Duo Capture Ex or hope a new invention!
If your iOS device is 30pin then the Tascam IUR2 is worth a look. But for some reason it doesn't work with the 30pin to lightning connector.

I have just got the Roland Duo Capture ex and just been using it for a couple of days. Been feeding in DSI Pro 2 & electric guitar (for effects processing on the ipad) as well as midi from Beatstep Pro to run drums / sequences and am really pleased with the unit. I did have a Griffin iConnect but found the sound quality just was not good enough for me, especially with the Pro 2 and never used it.
@Lurcher so great to hear of your positive experience! hope i can get one soon too!

Quick note about Focusrite iTrack Dock: it is compatible with Samson Carbon 49 keyboard. I know several of you out there have that one, it IS compatible no problems.
Just want to throw another very positive experience with the Duo Capture EX into the ring.Great, reliable and quite cheap.I love that you can power it in 3 different ways and that you don't need a hub.Only slide downside are the somewhat flimsy jacks on the back.
im patiently waiting for the artuia audio fuse...
I love Tascam gear so I went with the Tascam US-2x2 for my iOS studio. Have had mine 6 months plus and it works flawlessly. Like most of the USB interfaces used you just connect it up to your iDevice with the Camera Connection Kit.
The only negative with this interface is that it can't run off the lightning ports power, it needs an AC adapter for it's own juice which cuts into having a completely mobile HB ñsetup. However to me if you're setting up an iPad with a CCK adapter going into an interface, connecting mics, guitar and/or keyboards, you aren't really doing much different than if setting up long-term...so finding an outlet or using extension cords, etc. really isn't too much of a deal breaker.
The US-2x2 has the usual features a good USB interface should have: two mic/line/instr inputs, phantom power, MIDI 9-pin in & out, etc. What it has that most interfaces don't is the ability to mix the direct signal with the processed making it easier to deal with latency issues but still hear what's being recorded.
It goes for under $150 online, pretty close to what most other interfaces go for. Whatever interface you go with good luck.
Nope?
Hello, anyone can recommend an audio interface with internal mic? I would like to record on the go without using a microphones
Zoom h series mic/recorders
Line 6 Sonic Port VX has a built in condenser mic as well as a separate set of stereo field mics. Plus L+R stereo 1/4" input and headphone out.
Hey thank you, I checked for zoom and it is not clear if it is fully iOS compatible.
Line 6 seems good, does it work with cck and usb hub?
And what do you think about apogee one? It's a bit overpricy even if sound quality it is supposed to be superior.
Try to figure out if it works with cck too.
The Sonic Port uses a lightning connector to plug directly into the iPad, no CCK necessary. Unless your USB hub has a lightning in and out, it won't work with the Sonic Port VX.
So how is it possible to connect a midi controller?
This is the kind of connection I would like to do:
sonic port-> ckk-> hub usb-> iPad and midi controller
It's not. You didn't mention midi in your original question.
I'm unaware of any interfaces that combine a microphone with both audio and midi in and out, but maybe somebody else is? Maybe those zooms? I'm sure there's something out there if you keep digging.
Why this shouldn't be possible with cck? Like with UCA behringer
Just wanna let everyone know I have a tonne of trouble with trying to connect Zoom H2n to my iPad Air! Only works only when it feels like it >_<
You can use bluetooth over midi. I'm using my Sonic Port VX with CME xKey 37 plugged in Yamaha UD-BT01 (http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/accessories/interfaces/ud-bt01/) and it works fine.
Hey this little stuff seems really nice! Many things are improving in iOS music industry. Does it work with apogee one too?
@ellof5446
It should work with everything, because it's bluetooth. It doesn't matter what you have plugged in.
Having a crapy time trying to get Behringer 404 working with my iPad Air 1 (iOS 8.1)
I am receiving the 'device req. too much power' error
If you find my long post boring.. here's a video description of the problem:

Situation as follows:
Bought one on eBay, seller didn't send a power supply (frustrating), so I managed to find one supplying what I THINK the device needs.
My PSu matches the Behringer for:
5V
It's supplying 2.5a (more than the 1a the Behringer req. but that shouldn't matter)
The tip, has a swappable end (so u can use different sized (diameter) connections etc.
The Behringer has a negative pin on it (polarity) and I have made sure the polarity is set correctly on the psu according to the Behringer needs.
I have it connected to a REALMAX NEW LIGHTNING CAMERA CONNECTION KIT via USB cable, which plugs into the Lightning port on iPad Air 1.
But I receive the error; "device requires too much power"
To my understanding... I have supplied the Behringer404 with enough power.. So maybe the CCK is not up to scratch..
(I was never 100% sure it would work even when I bought it).
---the product info on Amazon for this unofficial CCK said nothing about supporting iOS 8.1 (which I'm on),
In fact it actually states on it "IOS 9". But it that doesn't necessarily mean it won't work with an earlier version. Moreover, it DOES say it DOES work with an iPad Air 1.
-I've tried a different USB cable, and I've tried taking iPad out of its case to ensure lightning connection is secure.
Maybe I should find another CCK?
Id be glad of any advice!
Video description of problem:

1st thing to try is a USB hub (preferably powered ) between the behringer and the lightning connector
If that doesn't work try a real Apple USB camera connection kit. (Ideally the USB3 version).
Thanks.
I managed to find a powered USB 2 4port hub (it uses a 5v 2a power supply).
Rigged it up as you suggest, strange result; the keyboard keys are audible from the iPad (connection working) after plugging the cck into iPad. But after about only 3 seconds, the sound dies. (It also dies from any and all other sounds from the iPad).
If i want sound out of he iPad again, I have to remove the cck.
Its strange..
What if you plug headphones into the Behringer
Funny enough, that seemed to sort the problem!
But then another curious phenomenon presented itself..
I was using it successfully for about 15 minutes and then iOS started presenting a warning message saying ~'this cable not certified to work with iOS, you will have limited reliability'.
That began showing up after I tried a few different apps. What's happpened here?? Did iOS gather (over the 15minutes) a judgement of how reliable this connection is and then send up the warning??
...because funny enough even after power cycling the iPad, the hub, and the behringer, it is now showing that error EVERY time I plug it in. And so can't use it anymore.
Well that will be either a knock off cable or your dodgy CCK. Useing genuine Apple or MFI stuff really does make a difference.
Why are you still on iOS 8 by the way?
