  • I've been able to purchase the app, but since then all of samples seem to be gone.

  • So if you delete the app , and re download it with todays update. the purchase button works perfectly after that.

    Yes

  • edited March 2022

Bought it and played for one hour - no crash, purchase button ok after reinstalling the app, factory samples empty at first but after simply close-reopen the app, they were back. Geat app !

One question for @Erik_Beatsurfing : how can I record my session? It doesn’t seem to start when pressing on the record button (I can choose the stereo mixdown but then…nothing happen)

i can’t remember who, but somebody said if you click record, and select record mode, that arms it and starts recording. when done you tap the record button again. and i think it saves it to a folder in files app repeated to beatsurfing 2. but i haven’t been gone from work yet to confirm that.

  • You are right, I haven’t noticed but a file has been saved on the beatsurfing folder. All good then, thanks a lot

  • Holy shit! Wasn't expecting $48! Won't be getting this one for a while unfortunately.

Hey there, Erik here from BEATSURFING. The payment button should be fixed asap, we made a mistake and when the new app version was approved by apple we sent it to the store. But we missed that the in-app purchase wasn't yet approved :( which of course, we noticed a few minutes after it went live. We filled out an "emergency review" form so hopefully, that will be fixed today by apple.

On KRFT, that is very much an app that took inspiration from us, as the original BEATSURFING launched in 2012, and KRFT in 2017.

You can check out some of our videos from the new app on our new youtube channel, or check out our old channel with OG beatsurfing and Playground videos.

The in-app purchase hopefully will be online today, but there are loads you can do for free without it for now.

    But to summarize pricing:

    • Free install and use of the software with access to 5 editable instruments.
    • A one-time In-App Purchase to unlock permanently and keep forever all the current features and instruments available and all the future ones added in the following 12 months.

And what we are working on

    • Looper with multiple layers
    • AUV3 Host
    • AUV3 Plug-in
    • Customize and design interactions between instruments
    • Midi In (play with external controller)
    • Melody based instruments
    • More visual customization
    • Additional effects and filters
    • New instruments every month

Let me know what you guys think, and if you run into any bugs or issues. Also if you have any features you would like let me know here or email [email protected]

    THANKS!

Did Playground take influence or build off of any of the concepts from TouchOSC?

  • I haven’t unlocked under the new pricing model yet because I haven’t seen my account credited from the subscription. I deleted, downloaded the latest update. Do I need to unlock first for the credit to occur? I simply don’t want to get charged twice.

  • Been a looooooooooooooooooong time coming

Hey there, As the refund process is not possible from our side (an apple ecosystem thing) you need to ask apple for a refund. The apple link below outlines how to request. Once requested it shouldn't take longer than a day for Apple to issue from what other users have told me. I think it may take a couple of days to hit your account after apple says ok, depending on your bank.
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204084

But no stress, email me at [email protected] if anything goes wrong, we will get it sorted. But so far everyone I spoke with had no trouble getting the refund.

Yea its not the best setup right now. There should be a prompt to show recording has started and ended. Right now as he said, its starting/stopping but not clear at all. Should have a fix for that soon!

  • Massive Playground fan so pleased to see this baby in the bath. Not immediately intuitive as regard recording etc., but am sure you guys are on it.

  • been playing on this app any chance i get.
i have a couple ideas for improvements.
a midi in and out panel would be nice to see where midi is routing.
have the app be AU so it could be used in conjunction with other effects apps in AUM.
I would enjoy a waveform window with movable playhead in order to quickly see , and adjust where the sample will play back from. also the ability to import folders of samples. or select multiple samples at once? that would be cool.
such a fun app, and made for ipad

  • Too bad there’s no discount for having purchased the first beatsurfing and then having it vanish off the App Store forever after an iOS update :(

I’m not a LoopyPro user, but I don’t think they got a discount as LoopyHD users. Also, like Loopy Pro, Beatsurfing2 is a brand new app compared to its predecessor. The first version did not come with sample players and a mixer, to say the least. These blokes have been developing BS2 for more than a year.

To bad, yes, but it's nearly $50 for me. And even though it's more than I can spend It would have been over 70 for the subscription version with nothing to keep. So, as expensive as it is, it's a whole lot better option than the original idea. I'll buy it when funds allow.

  • I’ll wait to download until after the public beta is over and everything works properly. Definitely intrigued though for sure.

  • I probably have missed it but is there a way to play my own samples or link to an instrument not included within Beatsurfing?

  • every sampler element lets you use your own samples

in terms of instrument, you can send MIDI to an external device but it's pretty basic at the moment

  • The new Shake5 MIDI instrument is dope !!

  • Just curious: if not into finger drumming, get it anyway or missing out on most of the fun?

  • I'd say go for it. I am to finger drumming as a horse is to mandolin playing. But somehow I manage to get some good sounds out of it. The barrier for me is $48. If that's no issue for you then I would say get it. The free download should give you a very good idea of what you can do with it though. Personally I wouldn't listen to me, I'm an idiot.

get it! you won’ t regret it.
I like finger drumming, but this isn’t really finger drumming. it feels very natural to play. it feels
to me like connecting different element of a drum groove by bouncing between shapes. hard to explain, but fun to play.

To me, it’s like scratching on a turntable, or finger painting.

  • This is more like rhythmic forearm swiping using your finger as a stylus...
It's much less demanding on fine motor control and really rather fun!
