Flux Pro beta inbound from Caelum Audio.

https://thebeatcommunity.com/2022/02/28/flux-pro-for-desktop-ios-users-public-beta-coming-soon/?amp=1

Not to be confused with Flux FX by Adrian Belew or 4 Pockets Flux Liquid Audio, the name seems to be a popular name for ios music app!

A step up from the Flux Mini.

  • The look reminds me of Gatekeeper vst fx by Infected Mushroom/Polyverse.

  • Wow! This looks really dope!

  • Nice, I use flux mini all the time so very excited for this

  • Looking so forward to this! I use Flux Mini in all my tracks. Such a wonderful FREE app.
Can't wait for Flux Pro to be released on IOS.
    Great news!

  • I love this :) Such a great and useful tool.

  • It is so cool that the graphs can output Midi cc to other plugs, brilliant!

Exactly! Always wished Bleass would add that feature to Motion FX. And it can all be midi triggered as well. Sooo coool… In my use case this will definitely be a good substitute for that Atom 2 ‚Automation Update’ that never arrived.

  • Definitely a lot of thought gone into this one quality app.

Thanks @White for sharing the link to the beta and for the early feedback from everyone. Flux Pro has been a labour of love that has been in development for well over a year and is something that we are really proud of. Flux Mini was actually an early tech demo which we feel we have vastly improved upon. We are potentially looking to create a Flux Mini 2 using things we learnt during the full development. For those wanting a bit more information, here is a bit of a description:

"Flux Pro is a multi-fx modulation plugin that will be available for both Computer (AU, VST3 & AAX) and iOS (AUv3). Use 3 customisable graphs to control a variety of modulation effects within multiple effects slots. The graphs can also control other plugins via MIDI CC and the multi-outs can be used to route the graphs to external CV gear (If you have a DC-coupled audio interface). Automation just became easier by blending drag and drop shapes with custom detailing to create a world of wonderful modulations."

During the beta we will hopefully be introducing more presets and factory shapes along with some suggestions from the community. I am currently finalising a patch which will enable users to select multiple points/nodes at once.

    Wait, whut? SUUUUPER!

@CaelumAudio I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS APP! The drag and drop waves took me bit to figure out, but they’re genius.

A feature request would be to have the midi out for CC modulations persist throughout changing presets. Currently I have to recheck the box every time I switch patterns/presets.

I’ll be using this a lot in my build my own synth voices using from basic waveforms and the other options in auGenX.

My Excitement built even more now that I saw the CV OPTION in the preferences! Does thus work with iOS? Do I need a JUST a DC coupled interface or what other hardware would I need for this… I look forward to even a brief manual :)

This looks excellent! I use Cableguys Shapertools a lot and was wondering if we would ever see something similar on iOS. I think this is the closest I've seen, so looking forward to taking it for a spin!

    it is indeed!!
I love how crazy the shapes get, and the dragging up and down for resize the shape is brilliant 👏🏼
    +1 to that feature request

Thanks @CaelumAudio - this is a great plugin that fills a gap on the iPad. Looking forward to a desktop version too - let us know if you need any beta testers for that one...

  • This is really cool. I had a derpy moment where I forgot this loaded into an fx slot on AUM and couldn't figure out what to do. The presets do a great job of showing off what this can do.

  • I absolutely love Flux Mini so this is very exciting news! Thanks!

  • This is awesome, Instabuy when it comes out.

So well done too. It does so much, and it’s all kind of right there on the screen, 3 different mods ABC, a handful of fx slots, the waveforms to choose or make, the vector curve drawing action of the line is so dam cool. This thing is just phenomenal. I’d love to see some kind of preset Randomizer, or a ton of presets, cause it’s easy to lose an hour or two just messing with it, even when you don’t have the time to do so, lol. It can just do so many different types of things with the sound it’s unreal. The UI is great. @CaelumAudio knocked this out of the park. I was smiling ear to ear when I messed with it for a long time yesterday. Cheers @CaelumAudio This an amazing piece of art.

Thanks - got the iOS version - I was thinking about the desktop plugin, that's going to be very useful too...👍

@audiblevideo this is an interesting thought. Perhaps a global setting that will turn persistence of CC on or off? That way its possible to load different presets for doing different midi stuff if needed.

@enkaytee we haven't decided yet on how our desktop Beta will work as there isn't anything as simple and useful as TestFlight. I'm hoping to squash the last known pre-beta desktop bug tomorrow and we will be looking at testing from there. Please send us an email to let us know you are interested in desktop testing ([email protected]).

Thank you everyone for all the positive feedback, its been so nice to see everyone enjoying it!

So far the issues that have been reported from this iOS beta are:

    • Standalone hides behind iPhone notch.
    • Mouse support doesn't work.

We have had a lot of questions regarding how to use CV and what is needed. All that is needed for CV is a DC coupled audio output on an interface. Not all audio interfaces with this feature are marketed as such so it can be difficult to know. Apple devices have these for their standard outputs (headphone out) so this can be used. CV can be sent to outputs 1 and 2 from the CV menu in Flux Pro. The downside of using this is that this will mean that you can't use these outputs to output audio. I prefer to use a interface with multiple outputs so that I can output audio from channel 1+2 and CV from the others. I have made a quick little video to demonstrate this setup from within AUM:

Edit: I am also using floating ring cables to connect to the synth itself. These are quarter-inch TRS jack to 3.5mm TS jack. This is recommended by various DC coupled interface manufacturers.

I'm using Flux Pro to control a Behringer Cat. An Antelope Discrete 8 was used as an audio interface. All sounds the sounds are generated and processed by the Cat, all Flux Pro is doing is controlling it.

Graph A is controlling Q, graph B is controlling cutoff, graph C is controlling amplitude.

Excuse the slightly dodgy playing, there was a tripod in between me and my keyboard 😂

  • @CaelumAudio It’s great that you can see all the automation by color on its assigned knob, it really helps keep track. I’d love to see it go one step further. It would be great if the color could move to reflect the exact automation movement, like the way Fab Filter shows modulation. (The colored strip around the knob moves to show how the knob is being modulated.) Or Maybe having the actual knob move inside it’s mod parameters. Just a thought.

@CaelumAudio It's very easy to use - great work!

Is there a manual (if there is, most of the following may already be answered)?

What are these buttons for (see screenshot)?

Do you have plans to add other effect types (maybe in v2) - e.g. distortion\crusher or TimeStretch (as in Cableguys Shaperbox)

What is "FeedForward" in the Delay effect?

@Poppadocrock I agree this would be a nice touch and is something that we have considered. Perhaps we could do this in an update as we would definitely have to explore an updated graphics renderer to get this to function smoothly on some older devices!

@craftycurate Unfortunately at this time there is no manual, this is on the to-do list!

Those buttons in the screenshot are to offset the start of the graph in the project. For example, some people like to start their project files with one empty bar at the beginning, they could use the bar offset to ensure that all of the graph modulations then start in time.

We aimed to stick with standard modulation effects for now but that's not to say we won't expand the selection in the future. Time and pitch stretching is something that we have looked at but budget constraints have been a block up until this point. This is something that we will continue to explore however as it is something that we would love to be able to do!

Feedforward sends some of the signal skipping the delay line. Think of it like a mix control that doesn't remove the delayed signal. It can also be used with short modulated delay times and feedback to create a manual All-Pass filter.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    David

  • As long as you're here @CaelumAudio, any chance your programmers could add a limiter to the Tape Pro app (both iOS and macOS)? I love the app, but on more than one occasion have had my ears and audio equipment nearly destroyed by a massive audio pop when the effect first kicks in on a track.

    Consider it.

@NeuM we are planning a massive across the board feature update to all our plugins. I'll add it to the list!
