love the au expansion. does anyone know. would it be possible to use this like an arppegiator and have it play a sequence every time you press a midi key input ? that could be really cool

I'm currently working on an Arp mode which does exactly that, and it changes the transpose based on the MIDI input pitch. Should not take me as long as the AUv3 implementation did ;-)

    Senode is very cool.

I was thinking that being able to use relative intervals / semitones within nodes rather than fixed notes would be awesome.

@sebastianarnold I believe your comment aligns to a similar functionality?

  • in the online manual i read this:
    „ Toggle

if the emitter is inactive, send a new token to the graph
otherwise remove the token from the graph“

but I don‘t understand. I can’t find any toggle and there is no way for me to delete a token (except with the x-Button) example: I can add 4 nodes by push „+“ but no chance to remove one or two from the five nodes … what do I miss?

Is the ARP mode released? Waiting for this to buy senode!

correction: I can add for example 4 tokens but can’t remove any of them - because there is no toggle button as described in the manual 🤔

    Nope.

  • Senode update v1.3.3 :

    • added support for iPhone (iOS universal)
    • added Emitter arpeggiator, transpose and hold modes
    • enabled Ableton Link in AUv3
  • so i have this on ipad, but when i look it up on my iphone. it says $9.99. is the iphone option and in app purchase? or is it just the app store being slow to update?

  • The emitter arp is really fun!

  • Would like to see Doug @thesoundtestroom make an updated video on this now that it’s AUv3.

  • I second that...

  • Is there someone that can help me understand what the arp MIDI key input mode actually does?

  • i’m not getting any midi out of the app. do i have to activate that somewhere ?

The manual is not updated so could you kindly explain how to use it?

yes. select an emitter and press the hamburger button bottom right. an emitter menu pops up,
set MIDI output channel to the one you want to use (it's defaulted to off)

Sure, I suppose it would be easiest to do a video but I’m away from my iPad this weekend. Many reading this will not need all the details about how to use Senode but I'm going to give as many details as possible so that novices might "catch up" easily.

I suggest setting up Senode as an AUv3 MIDI receiver from an AUv3 MIDI sequencer of your choice (eg, Atom) in the host of your choice (I prefer Loopy Pro but AUM will obviously work too). In the sequencer make a simple four note sequence that will make it easy to hear how Senode reacts to the input; to see how the arp mode works, make one or two of the notes a chord rather than a single note. Use a simple synth patch or piano sample so you can clearly hear the note playback. Set the tempo slow or the sequence with long notes to make this as readily apparent as possible.

From there, open Senode and click on the green + icon to create an Emitter. Then select the blue + icon and throw five nodes down on the "canvas"; I use five so that it's easier to see how the settings react to changing input notes. Record notes in each of the nodes and connect them in a round (per the existing manual). Using the four arrow selecter, click on the emitter (it'll turn red around the outline) and open the hamburger icon on the far right. I turn the Emit on startup option on as it makes it easier to work with the host. Scroll down to the MIDI Key Input Mode. Start in Play mode, then try Transpose, and then hit Arp. I think the results will speak for themselves.

Thanks man! I know Senode pretty well and have done pretty much what you suggest but I get no difference for the various play modes, must be doing something wrong. Anyway, thanks again - well appreciated!

Short performance vid of new feature by the dev:

  • Holy shit, I love this sequencer! Still not entirely sure about a few of the parameters; can someone explain this bit please? @sebastianarnold

“Depending on the transition mode, an outgoing edge is selected by random choice or user control.”

  • Also, as @banalytic says “ - because there is no toggle button as described in the manual 🤔”….anyone know about this? I cannot find this toggle option either (?)

  • edited October 2022

I concur that the emitter options don't jibe with the manual.

In the screenshot below I've highlighted the hamburger menu icons and the Arp input mode

  • Thanks @mojozart .
Do you know what “transition mode” means?

Also, @sebastianarnold , any possibility of a song mode being in future updates? That would be very very cool!

  • Also, any tips for increased randomness would be much appreciated….. thanks folks

Do you know what “transition mode” means?

    You're referring to the following?

Edges connect the nodes, so that the tokens can travel between them. Each edge has a single direction. Depending on the transition mode, an outgoing edge is selected by random choice or user control.

I don't understand this either. The only transition "mode" I see is one based on probability.

  • Yep, referring to that paragraph. Thanks for trying anyway @mojozart . Hopefully @sebastianarnold will see this and explain 😊

I haven’t used Senode since getting a new iPad but I just tried using it in some of the AUM projects I saved and it wants me to pay again for the IAP midi. There’s a restore purchases link but clicking on it doesn’t work. ? 🤔

Did you try restoring from the standalone or AU?
I would try standalone, if you didn’t yet.

Thanks for your response. I like Senode enough that I thought another $3 bucks isn't a problem. So I went ahead with that and the app store acknowledged that I had already bought it and so restored my purchase. :)

Hello all. This may be a basic Q but is the Senode app by itself (running standalone) able to output a MIDI clock, or does it only output gates for each note event? If it does not output a midi clock, does that mean you have to open it within Audiobus or AUM or another host that will send out the midi clock? Thanks in advance for any info.
