I would have hoped they'd found the time to update Animoog iPhone to support ANY version of AudioBus, but no.....
I'm gonna stick with ios 7 until all of my 10-15 essential apps are updated. This will become a problem if/when the new ipad starts shipping with ios8 pre-installed. Hope it won't come to that
Keep in mind that if you sync to a desktop (which I do less and less, actually!), you can save old versions of apps, and then load them later with iFunbox.
So, if you're worried about the new version of audiobus impacting you, archive the current version on your desktop before you download another. You have to archive your version, because it is digitally signed to work with your apple account.
Don't autoupdate your apps, and don't update important apps until you save the older version somewhere else.
If you're an Animoog user on twitter, go "favorite" my tweet and Moog will see it:
Duly done @johnfromberkeley - but we need to see some movement like for any iOS app that we use that is going to potentially have this problem. Otherwise Apple are going to see a chunk of iDevices stuck at 7 for a good while. I would not upgrade and lose things like Animoog even if if Moog or others didn't get things done in time. Just not worth it, whatever else iOS 8 promises.
@Sebastian - what is proactively happening here regarding contacting developers re: app updates, if anything, from your team to prevent things going south majorly?
I'm suspecting we already have problems. Cubasis has issues in the AB Output slot if a non-IAA synth is in an Input slot.
Hhhmmm I'm happy with my ipad as it is. Don't want to break or lose many apps I have. I think ios8 will be on my next iPad though.
@musicinclusive i totally agree, i'm not interested in leaving critical apps behind... especially considering the money i've spent on them.
i understand the march of time, but most of these purchases have been in the last 6 months. i don't want to see those purchases broken just 3 months from now.
A critical app for me is iMS-20 - we need to get a fire lit under Korg as well (and a MIDI update while they're at it). And Arturia with iMini (and a MIDI update while they're at it - for iMini for selectable ports), and, and, and. Is it time for the "big petition" ? ;-) - or several maybe???
Maybe a letter - signed - along these lines:
"Your app XYZ is one of the most popular on iOS among iPad musicians. The undersigned are active and enthusiastic users of XYZ and have made a significant economic investment in it, but fear that we will no longer be able to use your app, which we rely on for music production, with Audiobus after the introduction of iOS 8 unless you update to the AB SDK 2.1. We would like to encourage you to take this step. Your ongoing support for iOS would be much welcomed by the community, bring kudos, PR, ongoing income from it"
etc. etc.
Thoughts?

We're going to have a site for this where you can search for iOS 8/Audiobus compatible apps and if your favorite one isn't compatible yet you're going to be able to notify the developer in question. You will also be able to sign up to be notified once it is compatible.
We just wanted to give developers a week or two to get their hands on Audiobus before we make that system available to users, because we don't want developers to get swamped with update requests before they can even have a look at what needs to be done.
We're on this. This has been in the works for more than one year and you, our community, are an integral part of the launch. We are going to rely on you contacting devs and pointing out to them that you want them to update their apps.
Thanks @Sebastian - good to know! :-)
good stuff @sebastian — both the update and the plan!
This is so slick.
We all know there arent much apps around that support IAA, but there are 500 apps that support audiobus> so if they all exchange ab1 with ab2 we suddenly have 500 IAA apps, too.
Everybody wins

+1000 @lala
Cheers, @Sebastian. It impresses the heck out of me that the Audiobus team not only consistently delivers a relevant, must-have, quality product, but has also always thought so carefully through the game plan. Thanks for all you do.
