Hmm, is there a way to have constantly auto record and play loops from an audio stream, or are the only options to either make sure there's enough of a pause so the sample isn't immediately re-recorded or to manually press 'ready' to record new loops?

Trying to find a workflow that enables it to work without much hands-on work while a sequencer is playing into it. I really enjoy playing live into the app but haven't figured out how to make it work unattended when there's a constant stream of audio being fed into it.

Sometimes you just have to "wake it up" and you do so by shifting through the /LOOP/ setting: Auto/Signal/Ready/Fixed/Manual/Direct, and, in the end choose either Direct or Auto. Then after you have had it going for a while you can turn off your music and just enjoy the aftereffects of this wonderful little app, it can go on forever, I think, I never pushed it that long.

Love the idea of "waking" it up!

Hi, I use Brams Scatterbrain (a lot) to send into multiple Spacefields so I can slowly 'keep waking them up' ;)

    Fantastic idea.

You need to set it to Auto and set the threshold so it triggers another loop now and then. It’s basically using an envelope follower as a trigger. If you’re using a sequencer you might find the triggering is too regular, though. An evolving sequence with plenty of dynamics might work best.

Thanks for the help...what I find is that if the volume never falls below the threshold long enough, the app just keeps recording and recording without actually playing the sample. If I set a 5 second loop size and the threshold is constantly being met, the app seems to just keep re-recording 5 second samples without playing them. I would actually welcome Spacefields constantly triggering/recording and spitting out terrifying ambient sci-fi echoes at me!

I've only been able to use spacefields effectively by either setting it on auto and playing an instrument manually into it, ensuring I can pause long enough for a loop to finish recording and play back, or to more manually record and trigger playback. I suppose I could send it a sequence of notes that has long rests embedded to simulate the space I give it when playing into it live.

TBH I mainly play stuff into it manually, though I have managed to get a sequence working at least once. The rests sound a good idea. The Scatterbrain trick sounds interesting, though. I’m wondering if I could do something similar with MM-1.
