    Cubasis 3.4.3 Version History

CBT-3128 Resolves a problem where the "templates" and user folders were missing after installing the previous update.

    Cubasis 3.4.2 Version History

CBT-3107 Cubasis and Cubasis LE icons have been updated.

CBT-3098 Resolves a problem where audio events remained empty when opening a project.

CBT-3097 Addresses an issue where using special characters in file names may lead to empty audio events.

CBT-3082 Importing zipped project folders now works as expected.

CBT-3054 Using keyboard shortcut for zooming in vertically now works as expected with US (and other) keyboard layouts.

CBT-3026 Solves a problem where opening the drum pads in 8x2 view lead to a mixed up default drum pad layout.

CBT-3110 Audio Unit multi-out instruments no longer produce sound on channels that are not triggered.

CBT-3113 Resolves a rare issue where some Audio Unit tracks were deleted when connecting to Audiobus.

CBT-3105 Audio recording offset compensation is only applied to audio tracks where mono or stereo input is selected.

CBT-3117 MIDI out remains active if the real-time mixdown setup option is enabled.

CBT-3120 Poly Aftertouch is now properly recorded and shown in the MIDI editor.

CBT-3126 Opening the top left/right menu panel in Phone screen mode no longer hides the user interface of Audio Unit plugins.

  • Many thanks @LFS and please pass on to the team, I’m very happy to see the regular flow of maintenance updates!

  • Yes @LFS thanks for taking the iOS platform seriously where other major daw devs aren’t. I reckon the head start you have will pay off for you later 👍

  • Thanks for another great update, so great to see fixes continually coming in!

Unfortunately the zooming keyboard shortcuts still seem to be a bit broken with my UK layout keyboard. Pressing - zooms out horizontally correctly, but pressing + does nothing. Pressing Shift and + zooms out horizontally. Pressing alt and - zooms out vertically, but pressing alt and + does nothing. Pressing alt and shift and + zooms in vertically though.

One other issue I’ve run into upon updating is that my all my project folders were deleted (I organised my projects by year and month, with folder names being 2201, 2202 etc). All the actual project files are fine though - upon first starting the app with the new update a notification appeared saying a number of files were imported to the media bay. All the files are now just sitting in the base Project folder, which isn’t the end of the world but it’ll take me a bit of time to reorganise everything.

This sounds strange. Please close all apps including Cubasis and fully shut down the iPad. Does the problem remain when relaunching the device and Cubasis?

    Best,

Also happy to see steady updates. However, i can also confirm the same bug exists with default keyboard shortcut for zooming. The Cubasis shortcut appears to be fixed.

    Hi @CapnWillie,

    Thanks for your message!
Are you able to share a short clip or more details with us regarding the keyboard shortcut issue?

    Thanks in advance,

I‘ve lost all my projectfolders too.
    This makes one very angry
Restart of the iPad did not help.

And there are still no gridlines behind the tracks for better editing…

@LFS I am beginning to suspect you are not testing enough

    Hi @Iskander,

    Thank you for your message.

We are sorry to read that you experience issues with the current update, which will be shared with the team.
Adding the option to show the grid above the tracks is on our list!

@LFS I am beginning to suspect you are not testing enough

A DAW is complex and includes many features. Be assured that we spend lots of time on alpha, beta and release testing (including external testers who support us). Nevertheless, it is nearly impossible to keep software free of issues unfortunately. But we keep up trying to improve Cubasis with every update release.

    Best,
    Lars

  • @LFS

What about to create folders inside the FILES-app and move the projects to the folders?
Does this work as a workaround?

  • After the update the ‚Templates-folder‘ is missed too

I kinda like the new app-icon colors :sunglasses:

@LFS, just published my 600th Cubasis track. Is that enough of an endorsement? Time to revise my review, I think!

The most problems I have with CB3 are with the SWAM instruments. They just don’t work and play well together. I always manage to get the job done, but if I use more than one SWAM track it requires regular reloading or freezing.

Every so often, as well, the program will simply not load a project and I have to give a hard reboot. And on rare occasions I have to get the app open by selecting “open with new project” in settings.
I’m thinking this probably never happens on the desktop version.

These issues, of course, do not in any way diminish my appreciation for Cubasis allowing me a sublime creative experience. I know I only use 10% of its capabilities because of the simplicity of my technique and that it is a tool that I will never outgrow. So please thank the team for me personally, if you would. I suspect I am one of the most prolific creators using it on iOS. Cubasis makes that possible.

I like the logo change… now please consider an update of the Home Screen! 😘😎🙏

And, of course, I always admire your imperturbability! Happy Easter, Lars.

I don't get it! What is it you're doing that gives such a stress-free experience? I fought with issues for about 6 weeks before finally having the app refunded :(

  • @el_bo, what is your workflow like? My routine is almost always the same. I improvise a stretch, divide it into parts, add a lead line or drum track, plug in various synths, minimal effects, rarely more than 4-6 tracks and a careful arranging mix. A track is usually complete in under three hours.

I certainly don’t tax the capabilities!

    Yeah - DO NOT UPDATE

Unless you want your project file structure to be totally deleted.
And also unbelievably you cannot create new folders - when you create a new folder, it is soon deleted by Cubasis.
Its a major disaster. I hope they can fix it soon instead of the normal 4 month wait.

I personally use it as a direct replacement for FL Studio, using loads of plugins, effects & automation (the project below currently opens up with 102 plugin instances!) I also have no issues with it - it's a brilliant piece of software, very processor efficient, and I'm always pleasantly surprised at the frequency of updates this DAW receives.

@LFS My only niggle is the lack of 'clone' patterns, I currently try to use colours to identify pattern types in my projects, and as you can see in the attached screenshot, tweaking any one of these patterns, leads to a lot of copy/pasting. Please tell me clone patterns is somewhere on the to-do list?! (I don't mind if it's near the bottom, as long as it's on there!!)

  • @LFS Just opened Cubasis after updating today, previous project wouldn’t open. Took out all the AU only 3 tracks, tried again just stock piano no sounds. Deleted the app will, try again. iPad 9.7 latest iOS. Redownloaded now working!

  • How about rebooting?

Yikes, I'll definitely hold off on updating then for a little while... Everything I do is neatly organised into folders & sub folders(!)

    Hi all,

    ### UPDATED ### We've just released Cubasis 3.4.3 which resolves the problem that "templates" and user folders were missing after Cubasis 3.4.2 update has been installed.

Unfortunately the recent Cubasis 3.4.2 updates introduced a problem, where the "templates" and user folders are missing after the update has been installed.

We've already submitted Cubasis 3.4.3 hotfix updates to Apple, which will be publicly released once approved.

    We apologise for the inconvenience.

    Stay safe
    & best wishes,
    Lars

    Thanks!

I also never got as far as taxing capabilities.

Nine times outta ten, 3rd-party software instruments wouldn't make any sound, when re-loading a project. I had to manually swap the plugins (Keeping MIDI in place), then re-choosing the plugin. From there, it'd playback normally. Then, invariably audio would drop out randomly while looping. It took re-loading CB3 to get it to start playing properly. Add to that the corrupted audio bounces (Not every time. But enough to make me feel i couldn't rely on them).

This was on 2-5 track projects, in early stages.

    Hi @el_bo,

This should definitely not be the experience when using Cubasis on all regular current iPad devices.

You may give these steps a first check:

    • Create a new project
    • Close all apps, including Cubasis
    • Fully shut down the iPad

Does Cubasis works as expected on its own, once you've relaunched the iPad and app?
Once checked and approved, try to use a few 3rd party apps.

Here are a few more articles to check:
    https://forums.steinberg.net/t/cubasis-3-for-ios-performance-issues-read-this-first/146393
    https://forums.steinberg.net/t/limitations-of-audio-unit-extensions/70412
    https://forums.steinberg.net/t/limitations-of-inter-app-audio/80516

Does that help to resolve your current issues?
