    Playing with the idea...

This is really fun, I recreated it and got lost for a couple hours playing around with it

    Lovely!
I'm a fan of unpredictable stuff that feels somewhat organic.

After the way this guy treated Hainbach I don't think I'll be buying anything from him.

🤯 Really? Damn, I missed that completely! I was irritated enough by how this place treated Hainbach 👀😬

This place, I thought we loved Hainbach.

Ahh, almost forgot l’affaire Hainbach. Thanks for reminding me.

Yeah, I remember his slight disrespect for iOS community in Fundamental Origins description and Hainbach. 😞

Oh, I never saw that. I was wondering what people were referring too. I guess it’s been changed since then? Or is it still there to read?

    It's still there: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fundamentalorigins/id1604965075

FundamentalOrigins brings the test equipment sound from Hainbach's studio without sonicLAB tools.

Fundamental is a sound synthesis software which reproduces the test equipment sound of Hainbach's Rohde&Schwartz sine wave oscillator. For the original development of Fundamental, Hainbach offered his ingenious idea of combining 8 test equipment oscillators instead of 1 inside the app. He has recorded the original sound of his test equipment ( his wrist got great pain during this process with his own words ), and delivered these sounds.

And the Fundamental Origins represents Hainbach's original Fundamental idea and contribution, 8 test equipment oscillators with adjustable frequency, gain, and panning.

However all the other features coming from sonicLAB as a result of years of development of other products like PassBot, Cosmosf have been discarded; such as the stochastic modulation with GEN's ( sonicLAB LFO's ) , random envelopes, barriers, harmonic distribution mode, morphing engine, tuning scales, the new morse code generator etc.. to name a few. (Also sonicLAB has developed a genuine test equipment modeling, and the user interface but this is not an important issue here.) And therefore sonicLAB drops its name from this product.
    Who needs these tools ?

Amazing news : Since these features are discarded from the Fundamental Origins, this app is free. !! It is super plain and simple, no manuals needed., great for the iOS community.

Once again the iOS community is so grateful to Hainbach and his genius achievement, sonicLAB produces only the artifacts.

  • Thanks. I’m guessing it is mostly the last 2 parts? Basically everything after Amazing News:?

I’m not taking sides here, but text is easily misinterpreted. It does come off a little odd, sarcastic at the end there, but it’s hard to say what the true intentions were here. Have there been any comments about this from the developer? I just don’t wanna see any developer dismissed, when there could possibly be a misunderstanding. Maybe I’m wrong.

Maybe I should let this rest, but my curiosity usually gets the best of me.

  • This is actually awesome! I mean it makes really good, organic sounding feedbacky drones. Uses 69% of my cpu, mind you, but sounds like the end of a mogwai gig where they all leave their guitars switched on and bugger off backstage to drink whisky and irn bru or whatever.

Definitely my cup o tea, I would have done whole gigs of feedback if my bands had let me 😂

Like the common stereotype of genius developers, he’s had a meltdown or two, and behaved in ways that I probably wouldn’t forgive if I was closely involved; Hainbach has shown immense grace from what I’ve seen, and I love this particular bit of Sinan’s gear and thought it worth sharing despite the previous bad form… I think there’s been a few, or at least a couple of examples similar in the last few years, sing of which has been forgiven, so I guess it’s up to each of us to make our minds up…

That being said, the developer I’m currently working with is an absolute angel, I hope I get to work with him much more in the future…

Yeah, it felt snarky to the iOS users who shared feedback with the developer on how to the improve user experience in the app. For example: the app scaling was and still is an issue with controls getting cutoff. His response was either nothing or kind of felt like: how dare you share feedback with me?

I’m still interested in Thermo 😂

  • I should qualify my somewhat glib comment. I think this developer could release some really creative apps for iOS if they were open to feedback on UI and features etc. but instead they just seem to burn bridges and potentially have an ego issue in the way. It makes me not want to support them.

    EXCITEMENT BUILDING

Ah sorry, it’s a VR project with the BFI, more of a film tour thing than anything else, but is very interesting. Coming to libraries in 15 U.K. towns over the coming months, also on the apk store for quest (free I expect). Having said that, I’m forming ideas for something more sound based with the same person…

Mate, that doesn't diminish the excitement at all - it sounds absolutely incredible!!

Yeah, it’s a shame they seem like rushed ports as they’re mostly more well suited to multi touch interfaces. Definitely a missed opportunity by him…

For certain I know Blackpool and Bradford, but there’s thirteen others I can find out about, I think Bristol might be on the list… I’ll make more noise about it when it happens - each are supposed to be towns with limited arts offerings at the moment, there’s some fun political stories being the whole shenanigans that have been in the national press lately, the festival that dare not speak its name 😆

  • Sounds fantastic. Some resizing issues as usual. Looking forward to diving into the manual. Would be an amazing pair with paulxstretch

  • Anyone found a solution to how to fix resizing? At times i can't see the left od the screen (biggest ipad pro) and no amount of adjusting seems able to fix it, even at max size.

No resizing issue here, iPad pro 10.5".
However I've found an uggly UI glitch, to reproduce it just tap above the Load Preset button while the presets pop-up is open.

    Also noticed that.

Well i have just gone through the manual - not an easy read but what a unique synth. It's definitely going to take some experimention to understand but will be a fun challenge. Haven't even tried using it with a keyboard yet - that I'm sure will bring interesting results. Will also definitely be trying the custom sensel morph layout. Really wish i had a rotary style encoder midi controller to use with this.

    A manual?

  • “ The structure design is minimal, transparent, hence the purpose is not to create a complexity in a black box remaining inaccessible to the user.”
