Recently I tried recording a chordjam sequence into Drambo, and while it mostly worked - and aside from the editing issues others have described - the very first chord on beat 1 was recorded with only a quarter note’s length, and at a higher velocity than the rest. Something very weird going on here with sync, that I guess is mucking up the capture. If this is a known thing, I’d be grateful for a workaround.
so, finally i bought drambo but the first minutes are a bit emberassing. i’m having a hard time to manage the presets 😂
In the upper main menu, there is this „open“ button and from there u can find some („factory“) presets but only a small handful.
Below there the “files“ button and there are WAY more presets behind but they don‘t open when i tap on them (second picture. So, where is my idiot mistake?🤓 The presets from the“documents“ folder work but not from the“presets“ folder (i even tried to copy them into the documents folder but of course,it shouldn‘t matter where the files are stored)
@giku_beepstreet killer feature suggestion - drag note up or down in sequencer to scroll through the notes 🔊👾 instead of using those arrows in menu
@Crabman The presets are specific to each module. Opening the preset menu from a module will show that preset location by default - and I don't think you"d want to see 1000 unrelated presets in one huge list, right?
@rvr You can do exactly that inside the piano roll while auditioning (the loudspeaker icon) is enabled.
Nah, would be great in original sequencer. Hate to use piano roll and this seems so simple to do.
@Crabman try this;
In the main menu, tap “New”
Select “8 tracks (MIDI to CV)” (this is a standard starting point)
Now tap on that blue + button, which should bring up this menu:
I think this menu is what you’re looking for.
When you open the “Instrument Rack” browser, you’ll then see “Factory”. This is where all of the “Factory preset” sounds and patches can be found.
I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions, but most of all, have fun! 😀
So I’ve had Drambo since it came out, and honestly, I think I’ve looked in that “files” menu maybe once or twice.
Forget about that part of that menu, you don’t need it.
See my post above.
You know if you use the selection tool, you can change the note with these up/down arrows.
Yes I know and its painful, much more easy would be to drag up down. Like the note in euclidian module.
hey @rs2000 you gave me this tip at the start of the year and it enabled me to pursue something very creatively fulfilling that otherwise would have been so time-consuming and fiddly that I probably woulda abandoned the idea. Just wanted to thank you for going out of your way to figure out and share the solution, it made a big difference to what I did with music this year
Recently bought a new iPad so finally updated the iOS and Drambo versions which now means the troublesome colon isn't in the recordings filename anymore, but I'm still using the same workflow with Total Commander to get stems out of Drambo and into Bitwig. Cheers!
Great to hear @drewinnit 😊
I'm using WebDAV with Drambo a lot, although it's mostly on the same iPad.
My current workflow:
good tip, I really need to get to know Readdle. Have tried a few native iPad sample browsing options but none have stuck, will give Readdle a go
Its strength is its flexibility. It has mostly replaces Apple's Files app, better file operations, wider file format support, lots of network connectivity options, better file and pdf search etc.
Forum-newbie here! I've been composing lots of songs in Drambo, and want to export the tracks of these songs separately now.
I have AUM, and saw people recommend using it together with Drambo for this scenario. But I can't find YouTube videos are how-to's that actually do this.
I have 4-15 tracks, depending on the song.
How would I set up Drambo with AUM, to record each track's audio? I can also buy a separate software, if that would be better for my usecase.
Thank you!
@chrisb78 You can do it all inside Drambo.
All you need to do is enable these switches (on the tracks you want) and hit Play:
If you want to stop the track export before the end of the song, hit the upper red tape icon during playback and track export will end at the end of the current pattern.
You will find the track exports under Samples => Recordings => {YourSongName}
Oh, that's great. I'll try that out, thank you!
I used the "Export Song" option until now, which sometimes led to audio artefacts -- as if a split second might be missing. Is that because of using specific plugins?
That's why I'm curious about exporting stems, because I hope that these artefacts don't appear.
I used to get errors when using "export song" (mainly in 2.0, in the first version I had no problems), for example some clips did not repeat the right number of times. Now I just use record stems and haven't had any problem yet. Maybe it's slower, but at least I'm sure everything will be right.
That sounds perfect.
Slow exporting is totally fine with me -- when I do the same with Elektron devices, it also takes a lot of time
Thank you so much!
How can I create something like the OP-Z tape track? A playable buffer that records one bar from the input then keeps overwriting it.
https://teenage.engineering/guides/op-z/tape
Flexi can do something similar. On the Rec page, use these settings:
then record for the number of bars you like as your loop length.
Each time you arm REC, the next bar will be overdubbed onto the existing loop.
Thanks!
I can't figure out how to limit the recording length to a single bar and how to keep it recording over and over (not adding to the old recording but erasing it). I want the tape itself to be rather automated, with the only control needed being incoming notes (so no manual arming).
Also I'm figuring out how to use incoming notes for offset only (without pitch). I've added a MIDI to CV module and I'm using note CV to modulate the offset, but it takes multiple octaves to get close to the end of a single bar loop. Ideally, I'd like one or two octaves to span across the entire loop.
And I'm not sure if I can disconnect the note input from the track note so that the notes don't change sample pitch, is that possible?
I wanted to ask how to set panning values for specific steps
I'm using the "extended step sequencer editor" for velocity and comp -- so coming from Elektron, I hoped to find all other sorts of values there to edit. Can they be added to the sequencer editor, or am I on the wrong path entirely?
Thanks!
I've been thinking how a generative module similar to Ableton 12's offering, within Drambo would be a transformative enhancement. It feels like it would be less about adding a new feature and more revitalizing the entire user experience. Having extensively used the alpha/beta version of Ableton 12, I can attest to theimpact it has had on an app's vitality. The key is the seamless incorporation into the piano roll, that's not just intuitive but ingeniously designed. It's a giant step improvement over the disjointed experience provided by third-party generative apps, or makeshift solutions.
The unique nature of the iPad shapes user expectations towards a more relaxed, playful approach to music creation. Drambo, (as many see it) demands a high degree of intentionality and commitment to learning, which can be daunting for new users. They often shy away from delving deeper into its capabilities. A generative module that is immediate and accessible in the piano roll would radically alter this perception, making Drambo far more immediate, inviting, and user-friendly. You see this in the still popular Ampify Groovebox app and the thirst for easier and immediate in Nodes.
Imagine the potential of incorporating elements like the Drum/Pattern randomness of Atlas, the infinite modes of Playbeat/Riffer, or the mutate feature of Hammerhead directly into Drambo's pattern lanes. While it's possible to replicate some of these features in Drambo and with some of the mentioned apps, the process is often cumbersome and lacks the fluidity and directness of pattern manipulation as seen in Live 12's piano roll. This isn't just about convenience; it would take the creative process inside Drambo to a level that feels organic and immediate while still keeping all the superpowers it has when going deeper. I love Drambo already, just my 2cents in what I think would give it wider adoption.
@Model10000 This is the most exciting feature of Live 12 that I can't wait to get my hands on. The comparative "players" in Reason are still separate devices that you have to have in your rack. Annoying. The fact that it's all built into the piano roll of EACH CLIP is a fantastic approach by Ableton. I believe you will see this being ripped off by most DAW's, so yeah having it in Drambo makes sense.
Just hold a step and turn the pan knob.
Hold and double tap on the knob to erase the p-lock.
It's as easy as that.
or you could drop this in on the end of the signal patch before the Track fader.
It's a sequencer for panning.

@drez Ya, I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do. Normally, just like to get things to audio as quick as possible and arrange. It's like a video game finding new order in the chaos or like having a plate of food you can quickly reconfigure. Definitely adds more fun time and new ideas.
Thanks @rs2000 and @Gravitas
No worries. ❤️
