Is this Launchpad support exclusive to Novation devices or do other 64 pad grids get in on the fun too? :D

It should with all controllers that support feedback via note or cc.

and now that dRambo has a Sysex generator module we can now communicate with hardware using sysex.

Wish there was a way to have these thread titles automatically update after so long like "DRAMBO 2.0 went LIVE over 2 years ago!!!

You could try private messaging the original poster to see if they don't mind updating the original post. I'm not sure that works after one year though. I'd actually be interested to know if anyone feels like seeing if they can edit one of their very old thread titles (like over one-year old).

Being a moderator, I can't tell if editing posts is still restricted after a year. I'd be interested to know.

I guess the moderators could edit them, but changing people's posts without them asking feels kinda creepy to me.

Thank you. That is good to know.

Thought folks would like to know.

It was mentioned last night on my live stream.
    We're testing it in Beta.

    This is huge! 🤩

    Yup.

    So like I was saying....
Almost everything on the screen can now be midi mapped with feedback.
What is really fun is that the keyboard and the steps on dRambo's sequencer can also be mapped.
It is quite fun to be able to look directly at my LP X and step program on the fly there.

I’m using dRambo almost exclusively as a MIDI sequencer and automation recorder in AUM. This MIDI update will be a great benefit to me. 🤩

Since we are openly talking about upcoming features that are currently still in beta, I’ve got to say, this has been THE MOST FUN I’ve had with my Launchpad Pro MK3 since purchasing it!

I am already trying to figure out how to fit LPX into my workflow. 🤦‍♂️😅

  • Thread title has been edited.

  • Apologies for what will be a obvious question to some but what is MIDI feedback in this context and how will it be used?

You could already midi map drambo from a controller, but now you’’ll be able to feedback from drambo to the controller so it lights up in sync. For instance, have a green led on your controller light up when you press play on drambo’s UI. And now you will have a sysex generator for controllers that work with sysex instead of midi notes. Technically it will be possible with any programmable controller that uses notes, cc or sysex, although probably the community will have to come up with templates for less common controllers. Out of the box the focus has been on LP as I think makes sense, being most popular, but the tools will be there to build others.

Thanks @pedro, i sort of get it now. When you say LP, is that Loopy Pro, Logic Pro or an external controller?

    Ah, okay! Thanks.

  • Drambo's MIDI feedback should support any controller that does feedback via CC or Notes with the same value as the controller sends out, which my understanding is most of them. So if you have an APC 40 or something it should work as well.

As mentioned earlier the new sysex generator module will also make it much easier
for dRambo to communicate with external midi controllers and the other way around.

The difference with bidirectional feedback (in this context) is that it is now
inbuilt into dRambo which means we don't have to create modular chains
to generate cc messages to send to external midi controllers, it's now in the menu when we Midi Learn.
Personally speaking I've been using dRambo modules for years to create midi feedback
for my LP X and LC XL and having inbuilt bidrectional feedback makes things so much simpler.
For instance I'm beta testing the bidirectional midi feedback (B.M.F) with the LP X and
currently my LP X is configured to change the Scenes on the LaunchControl XL mkii (LC XL),
play the notes on the on screen keyboard and show and edit the first 32 steps
in the dRambo sequencer playing in the selected CLIP.

  • Just a short note for the curious, I'm testing this new feature under development with many different MIDI controllers that support value displays in the shape of colored LEDs under buttons and pads, LED bars and LED rings around rotary encoders. It's interesting to see how different Manufacturers implement parameter feedback, you can be sure that whenever the MIDI spec leaves a door open, at least one manufacturer will do it in their own different way.
This is going to be a powerful feature but the first release won't include all imaginable features and combinations, as their implementation is a tedious job that needs time. And quite a few things inside Drambo need to be changed as well, in order to make the experience a good one.
It will be worth the wait for sure!

  • Exciting news! I've been a little obsessed with creating a midi controllable groovebox on the ipad with proper midi feedback.

  • If you would like to see it in use,
I'm live streaming tonight and throughout the rest of this week.
Keep an eye on this thread or here
    https://forum.loopypro.com/discussion/62726/ios-youtubers-and-the-ios-platform#latest
and https://forum.beepstreet.com/ for annoucements and links.

It is certainly well worth the wait.

Fyi: Poly Knobs allows you to modify individual voices in a polyphonic signal, no matter if it's pitch, velocity or any other polyphonic signals that come from the Many To Poly module, for example.
The signal polyphony will determine the amount of available knobs in this module.

Poly Knobs goes great with the Unison module! Spectral filter seems cool but buggy for me, produced some glitchy buzzing and killed the audio engine a few times.

Gate as well? Can it be used to spread out the onset of voices in a chord?

Can you reproduce the Spectral Filter issues?
If so can you send that dRambo file with a description of the bug to [email protected] please.

Unfortunately not, seems random but pretty frequent.

Still, if you can email the dev with the file and issue then we can fix it.

  • @Grandbear thanks! That looks promising.

I've got an apc-40 (the old one). I would love to get it setup and working with Drambo. Where should I start or is this feature out of beta yet?
    I also have a
smart pad midi controller that I got for cheap that is collecting dust.

Its still in beta, but once its out it'll be easy to set up.

Hard to say. Can you link to a MIDI spec of the APC40?
