I’ll just say this: don’t ask me to like or subscribe. I will do that on my own if I like the content, everyone knows how to like and subsribe. You have videos where people have put up giant animated graphics of the like and subscribe buttons being pushed. “And before we get into it, just remember to ....”. Let me stop you right there. Present your content and get on with it. When I see pictures of grown men with their mouth agape, eyes wide, I don’t think “oh my gosh they must have discovered some insane bit of info that they’ll tell me about in this picture”. It’s just an unflattering picture that gives me second hand embarrassment.
This is the big distinguishing factor for me. Some do, some don’t. Those that don’t rub me the wrong way.
If the content they post is interesting to so some here, who cares? I don't understand the notion that only regulars should post links to their videos or music. Interesting content is sometimes posted by people who only come by post about their vids or music.
The only thing that should matter is posts are potentially interesting and relevant to the forum.
To be honest it's my 10 seconds. But the real issue to me is the deceitful jerk with an ulterior motive. Be up front and honest about what you are posting and these are not issues.
And I'm more inclined to meet disrespect with disrespect. I know the world has changed but I'm clinging to an eye for an eye till I die. Other people can confront asshole acts with, hey man, not trying to be a downer but could you be a little less uncool, that would totally rock. That ain't me.
Nice try, but it's not every thread. It's threads that are about this particular topic. That's 2 topics. A lot less than every thread.
For example
Every thread - 2 threads = a lot of threads
As per the above recommendation if you don't like it don't read it. Or even better, mute those you don't care for. It benefits both parties.
I don't think anyone is saying that. Source?
Certainly not me. In fact I specifically told the Is This The Greatest App dude he would fit in here nicely (paraphrasing) if he took away the clickbait etc.
......
See the OP.
Yep, and try as I might, I can't get that meaning from it.
From OP:
Personally, I could care less if someone participates in the forum if their posts are relevant.
I have never had the impression that this forum is just for peers to banter back and forth.
@espiegel123 Fair enough. I'm not really getting that but I can see how someone might. Seems like everyone has different triggers and tolerances. I don't go for scammy bs. I can look away, and usually do, but this one annoyed me more than some because it is clear this guy is just using the forum to generate clicks without being honest about it. I hate dishonesty. Trust and transparency are big triggers for me. Obviously I have issues with my government
I have no idea what thread you guys are talking about.
Was it about a topic relevant to the forum?
So is it clickbait if I bother you with my auria pro recordings to get some thoughts and critics?
Please provide documentary evidence of your contribution to self-promotion ratio during the previous 12 month audit period. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. Posting history is subject to verification. Should your application be denied you have the right to appeal. Check your local jurisdiction for additional restrictions and/or local filing fees.
@wim : could you translate that into german😀
No it isn't. (And, luckily, literally noone on the thread said that it was. 🤷) But if you do this by opening a new thread and entitle it "Did you know Auria Pro can do this?" - well, that would be clickbait, yes.
Does this help?
Ps. I like your recordings quite a lot by the way, but that's another thread. 🙂
I don’t really care. There are a few people that make videos here that seem to think they’re important/better than your average forum Joe. Hats off to the ones that are humble. 👍
Depends how you present it. I can only speak for myself but if you are posting music that has something to do with the gist of the forum (apps, ipads, connectivity, iphones, music in general, and probably more) then of course not. If you swing by and dump a video and that's it then it would seem to me you are just splatter gun marketing. It's pretty easy to tell the difference between splatter gun marketing and genuine sharing for discussion. Although there is some grey area in there that is where only personal preference can decide. Not much wrong with that although I reckon it could get annoying. If you post videos to threads like, hey does anyone know what is making the bass sound in this song, or, hey I think I may have inadvertently created the most brilliant piece of music ever conceived, please confirm etc etc etc than I personally think that sucks.
This could also work. Although it's a bit rudimentary. Needs to be refined a bit more as a process like this should not retain any level of transparency.
@ervin thanks!
It was a topic called Is This The Best App in the World for Making Music on an iPad or something like that. Similar YouTube video title. Title of thread has now been changed. Issue resolved as far as I'm concerned.

Let’s focus on tolerance.
I guess. I could try to justify it by saying it is relevant. As a member of this forum and someone who does participate I genuinely wanted the opinion of others. It is to do with mobile devices and I did use the iPad for some of it. Plus it is not a common thing for me to do. Also, it is clearly a video about Samsung.
But in reality, yes, probably hypocritical and click baity thread title.. What should I do to make it right? Seriously. I had thoughts for the "Is this the Best App" dude but don't know what to do about the Samsung video.
I've genuinely tried but I can't. I use all my tolerance where I need it most.
Please, it's important to recognize humor and how it recognizes common experience. That video made me smile and laugh the first time I saw it and it did again now. If you want to claim hypocrisy in an outlook or statement, you better nail it.
Oh dear, your life sounds painful. Take care
Imo, that post is perfectly on topic. If someone does not like a thread title, they can just say do in the thread.
@ChancedMusic : imo, if a post is relevant to the forum’s topic it should be welcomed not shutdown.
We shouldn’t be driving people off.
Posts that have information relevant to iOS music making and tools are relevant to the forum…and in my opinion posting such videos makes one a valuable community member whether the poster comments about other people’s posts or not.
I have no dog in this. It seems the culture here is pretty tolerant of “drive-by” posts.
In defence of the OP however, in many other enthusiat/semi-pro forums such posts are not only discouraged but in some cases it’s a ban-able offence so its noticeable. I just don’t feel secure enough in our own existence as a market or community to get cantankerous. It sometimes feels like we are just one fed up dev away from crumbling under the weight of our own unsustainability.
Anyone who’s out there making content and continuing to raise the profile of this platform gets a pass from me. In fact I am thankful they are there. Fwiw.
Was this an example of click bait? I dunno. As a newbie to this, I find his videos useful.
No you didn't. His title was funny and self deprecating. Every title of every thread is an attempt to get people to click on them. What the topic is trying to sell is important to the perception of clickbait or not.
I think the original title of the post was also the same as the title of the video. After that, in the thread, it was pointed out that the video was sponsored by Mixvibe. Those two things don't go together to make me feel like the title of the video is asking an honest question. I think that's probably a bit of why some people got upset. A title of "Checkout our review of Remixlive" followed up by some statement of sponsorship in the original post probably would have stopped any significant criticism of the post.
Everything in the video may have been completely useful and true, I don't know because I haven't watched it. It's not really relevant to me. But, the way the marketing is framed is important to perception.
ah, ok. I can understand that.
