That's a rational answer. Great wisdom. I'm here for the emotion :)

If you really know how to use, say, even 80% of the apps you already bought, buy it, otherwise just learn what you've got already and wait for the next sale 👻

Exactly, and back then I eventually ended up buying all three. 🤣 Oddly enough, I haven't used the three in a while but used them heavily in my Ambient experiments during my "Summer of Ambient 2022". Now I'm on a Lofi streak, lol.

    Crystalline

It really is the bee's knees of reverbs for Ambient and other genres. :) But yeah, this thread was made all the way back in late June. 🤣 I obviously have all three apps by now.

  • Now I'm on a Lofi streak, lol.

Next is Lofi House Ambient?

  • I obviously have all three apps by now.

Whenever we ask for opinions, its just a matter of priority
We always go for all of them

LOL! Actually...Lofi House may be something to explore. 🤩🤣 We'll see what I can invent once I finish mastering the basics of Lofi production. 😉 I've learned the basics from those two Udemy classes and countless Youtube vids, and now it's practice, practice, practice! Or as my dad called it..."woodshedding".

Pretty much, and when I originally asked the question, it really was just asking which one I should get first. I first got Crystalline, then Samplewiz 2, and then Thermosynth.

😆 you’re right… I’m a soundscape junkie! I was chatting with a friend about the first song I ever made with an application called Databecker Music Maker a bunch of years ago. That song to this day is the ultimate sleeping pill. I layered so many soundscapes and effects that it is guaranteed to take you out within minutes 😴 I had no clue what I was doing 😂

    I’m having the same dilemma…

  • I took the offer yesterday shortly before midnight because i didn‘t know if the offer will be up over the weekend. Then i opened the new app and got lost in it for 2 hours experimenting and starting a song until i realized the time :)

Luckily i had experience with Fundamental‘s preset system, as ThermoSynth preset management works the same wierd way. So i first created a new bank and saved my exeriments in the new bank without loosing the original presets.
I remember that when initially trying out Fundamental, i overwrote the original presets and even deleted the original bank when trying to figure out what the E button was for (it was ‚erase bank‘ and worked with a single press at that time)

I like experimenting with Thermo more, it can get crazier, but I actually get stuff I’ve used in honest tracks much more easily out of Fundamental. Maybe it’s coincidence, I dunno. But they’re both easy to get lost into and very fun yet serious toys if you dedicate yourself to them for just a little while. A little while longer than most of us usually spend before tossing an app, but it’s still not rocket science.

Yeah, I reckon I’d load up a couple of instances through Silo and lo-fi-af, mess around pulling levers for an hour, and get a new album out of it….and it is nearly Christmas…

  • Is Samplewhiz 2 worth it?. I already have some samplers:

    • audiolayer: great for multiple samples, velocities, etc… but not too much tweaking or creative manipulation.
    • Drambo: can do it all. Sample, manipulate, transform, sequence, annihilate… but it always takes some effort to set up.
Samplewhiz looks like a fun tool to manipulate and get some interesting sounds. Probably closer to FRMS ? (Which I own as well).

I haven't tried Drambo's sampler yet? Can it do granular synthesis? Sounds amazing!

Samplewiz is rather easy and straightforward and has the ability to do granular synthesis with a sample. Not sure how it compares to FRMS as I never bought FRMS (looks cool though).

All signs point to "Drambo" once again. 🤣

I just did this with Fundamental since my last post. I think it’s a great idea of the type of “pretty” it can do. A little lucid morning meditation for all. I forgot to even consider the insane possibilities now that Silo and Tails are out. Lord you’re right. Could crank out an interesting album per day for a week at least.

Just Fundy 2 with a touch of FAC Phazer and prob a little too much Pro-R. Ah well!

That’s nice that, almost a Cluster/Terry Riley vibe.

I had the first version of Fundamental, but haven’t really looked at v2. Time to investigate - thanks!

ThermoSynth reminds me of watching Hawkwind in horizontal, driving rain during the Solstice of 85, on top of White Horse hill with the remains of the post-Beanfield battered convoy and ten police helicopters circling overhead. Those were the days!

Great advice - thanks. But how do I create a new bank? I cannot find a manual-pdf, like announced in the App-Store….

    @Satie

To create a new bank, press the grey bar below the (L)oad and (S)ave buttons to bring up the bank and import/eport options.

Now tap the namefield and enter a new bank name, then press (C)opy and a ‚press again to copy‘ message appears. Press (C)opy again and then the bar (which is yellow to indicate bank/import/export options) to go back to the normal (L)oad/(S)ave options.

Tapping on the bank-name brings up a bank selector popup, which should contain your newly copied bank. Since it’s a bank-copy, your bank will contain the same presets as the bank that has been selected when doing the copy. Tap on your bank, selects that bank for load/save actions.

    .

Before saving a preset, first input a new name into the name field and then press (s) to bring up the preset selector. In that selector, tap the slot you want to overwrite with the current setting. A ‚tap again to overwrite‘ message appears and then tap a second time on the destination slot.

    .

BTW: To abort a (L)oad or (S)ave action when the preset selector is already open just press the (L) or (S) button again.

Shall I I place the other 112 questions to Thermo in here, or should I open another post? Or is there actually a PDF-manual?

Where is the possibility to route MIDI-Contoller-messages to the sliders in Thermo? On YouTube, there is shown, that this should function.

I did find the manual. Infos to CC-mapping included.👍🏽
