  • @espiegel123 : I’m sure you’re right, and I should put in the time at some point. Not sure what extra it would bring me, though, as I’m comfortable with the File Player loops?

Maybe that DAW like timeline arrange page it has might let me make more structured arrangements than my ‘hit play and let the rando run’ approach currently offers…

Truly, the only thing I’m really missing from AUM right now though is an integrated way to do editable Cubasis style automation of its’ faders and buttons, and that is now apparently on the roadmap for it.

Get that, and I can shape my ‘all channels running at full tilt all the time’ thing on iterative multiple passes, which would be a lot more flexible than I can manage riding the faders live each take at the moment.

The advantage for me is that as soon as I record, the audio is right there ready to be played without my having to add a file player and find the audio file. I also have immediate access to be able to trim the audio and make it the target of the all an audio slicing grid. Additional benefits include integrated sliders and xy pads to control AU fx parameters. Plus the ability you mentioned to lay things out in a timeline when that would be handy.

    Oh…

Did you know you can bus any channel to any other?

Did you know that you can set Sync Quantum to automatically record perfect audio loops of pretty much any length inside AUM using the channel and main records?

Did you know you can use an app called Art Kerns MIDILFOs https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/midilfos-midi-modulator/id998273841 to automagically tweak just about anything with an exposed cc value in the channel info slot at the bottom of each channel , including AUMs own faders and buttons? (Try the sine wave on the filter resonance of any synth app you have loaded in AUM for starters).

Or one called LFOH! https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/lfoh/id1609270466 to also do the same to your live audio stream on any channel?

Or one called Midigates https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/midigates-midi-probability/id1226296557 to introduce random probability to any midi sequence?

Or one called Scaler (part of the invaluable Rozeta suite) https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/rozeta-sequencer-suite/id1292546479 to transpose any sequence?

Use these two together, and the duplicate function inside AUM and you can split out a Bassline from a lead line in seconds. Then record any cool stuff, maybe created by the very cool ‘…bud’ set of sequencers - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app-bundle/bud-bundle-auv3-midi/id1541649738 - in an Atom 2 Midi clip: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/atom-piano-roll-2/id1536259776 - so you can mess some more with transposition, probabilities and tempo.

Did you know the fastest and easiest way to record a stereo mixdown from AUM is using an IAA output from your master channel straight into AudioShare’s record tab? (This lets you capture effect tails when you hit the AUM transport stop).

So many (many, many…) cool things that AUM and the helper process apps you can run in it can do… such sights to show you ! :)

@Svetlovska you always share such motivating music production knowledge on the forum. Just wanted to say thanks 👏

    (And no to subs! Lol)
