Why would you want to slander a developer like that? Dreamless has been a member of ABF since at least 2013 and has released a number of appreciated apps. They never once asked for anyone’s password, to my knowledge. Just shared a TestFlight open beta link.

Did you give them your password?

So do I, if memory serves, I’m sure he had some terrible trouble quite some time ago.

Why would you think that? And how on earth would he be doing that?

Nothing this developer has done has given the impression that he would do something underhanded.

Login information? Where are you talking about? It was just a Testflight link.

    Agreed.

It was very sudden and the dev has come out with a few new apps recently.

Jam Synth, 3D Chorus and now this one Rainbow Delay.
He's had Jam Synth and his sampler Beat Machine available for free for ages.

We can only surmise what he's going through and hope for the best.

Not sure how you could get scam with a testfligt, I agree with you. And Apple probably scan every new app on the Appstore.

    @Montreal_Music @Pierre118

    There's no scam.

Comments such as that one hurts the Dev's and the iOS platform as a whole.
If and when there is actual proof that the Dev's
are scamming iOS users then I'll back down.
Those dev's work their arses off (forgive my usage of language).
I know this now from actual experience trying to design my own instruments etc.
It takes, time, patience, knowledge and passion
to develop these apps for users to play with.

    Edit.

and to make it clear my comment isn't directed at either of you.

  • It would be courteous if the person that raised the question of a scam would delete their post.

Yeah… I’m sure absolutely nothing could possibly go wrong.

You were talking about login information and passwords, none of these are collected. Also you talk of 'possible scam'. There is no proof of any scam. You really don't know where you are talking about. Stop these nonsense please.

  • Can you self delete your account here? If not, what reason he gave to the moderator? Maybe it’s not of my business.

  • @NeuM : the text from Apple says simply that if you share your name , email address and crash logs that the information goes to the developer and not Apple and that that the developer has agreed not to share your name and email address.

In my opinion, it is unkind and unfair to raise suspicion about someone without more cause.

If I was to ask you to delete your account, I would get branded as a troublemaker. I'm not asking anyone to delete their account, just to be clear. Why do comments like that get high fives here? What's up with that?

Does anyone have a real explanation for the deleted account and missing thread title? Isn't that what we're trying to determine? After a beta test, it's very unusual for a developer to completely delete their account.

I guess I am blocked. So my explanation of the less-nefarious-than-implied information wasn’t seen. Maybe someone else can correct the misrepresentation.

@Montreal_Music was not directing that at you although it was somewhat ironic in the context…

  • @NeuM: you implied something nefarious might be going on. You supported your fear-mongering about stolen passwords with the text from Apple that merely if you choose to share your name and email address that information goes to the developer and not Apple. There was nothing that implied the developer had access to passwords, etc.

Apple would be in pretty hot water if there were such possibility.

Just to be clear, my previous message was just saying that maybe we could ask Michael, the owner of this forum why the user has been deleted because I don’t think a user can delete his own account.

Actually, a user can delete their account, or at least ask for it to be deleted. We've seen several cases where users decided to leave, and even to (optionally) have all their posts deleted. A recent example was flo26, who was active on the topic of guitar amp sims.

In this case, Michael might know the reason for the deletion, but is unlikely to reveal it since the dev posted no explanation himself.

In addition if Michael, without the dev's permission,
were to share why the dev deleted his account
then Michael himself would be breaking the Law.

  • It isn’t really any of our business why the dev asked to have his account deleted. And he’s done nothing to give us reason to believe there is anything untoward going on.

  • My only hope is that whatever happened, wherever the dev is, whatever the reason they left, that they'll be okay.

  • "Rainbow Delay" beta is now back up.

  • Now released.
