Whoa,
Genuine Sounds is a collection of fine sampled instruments based on a very efficient and unique proprietary sound engine made by GSi and called WLF - Wavetable Linear Format. The WLF Engine grants the highest performance with the lowest memory usage and CPU load possible, resulting in high polyphony even on less capable devices. All sounds included in the Genuine Sounds collections are professionally sampled using proprietary software and hardware machines.
With Genuine Sounds Volume First we at GSi are glad to introduce our new technology to the world, offering some of the finest acoustic and electric piano samples we've produced so far, with the sincere hope to continue along this route and release more collections in the future, focused on several other instrument categories.

Almost all piano samples featured in Genuine Instruments Vol. I don't make use of loops, thus preserving the natural decay of the original instruments they were sampled from.
Ooooh
Indeed.
I was about to get a Roland XV 2020.
I’ll wait.
Genuine Sounds Vol. I - Piano Edition

They beat the record for highest price per MB on the iPad
Agreed. 😎
Wow...I’m keeping my ears open for a demo of this. In the pics it looks like a lot of piano sounds can be downloaded. I wonder if they are included, or an IAP?
no iaps in the appstore now
I got an iTunes card to buy this, and downloaded the Model D piano sound bank. I’m not at home so I haven’t hooked up to my MIDI controller to try it out properly yet. Didn’t cost extra to download the sound bank. Loads up in AUM, so AU is a yes. Can’t wait to get home and play with this thing.

How is this 20MB?
The app comes with no sound samples installed, so you have to then download the sounds you want. The Model D alone is over 1 GB.
Oh! That's a very important information lol
Yeah, and it looks easy to delete them afterwards if you want to clear up space. The app looks really feature packed!
$34.99, was hoping for a $20. But that’s me being broke talking, lol.
I think you download all the individual pianos to device or even to an external hd. On desktop with every piano I think its 24 Gb, at least that’s what the pics showed on ADSR site I linked to above.
Desktop audio demos on site I shared above. I’m sure there will be a YouTube soon though.
Yeah, I’m kinda broke too, but playing music is my only luxury left so I decided to splurge on music apps a little bit.
I’ve downloaded 2 of the pianos (Model D & Yamaha c5) and the DX keyboard sound. The sounds are decent but unfortunately having an issue working correctly with my main midi keyboard - a Korg sp-250 using a Mio iConnect midi to usb (with lightning adapter). The sustain is always on all the time. No problems when hooked up to my smaller Nektar SE61, but I dont use the nektar for piano playing, just do pitch bending stuff on that. Hope I can get this figured out...
Are the sounds just “decent” ? I am expecting some improvements - or new features - over the sample libraries already available on iOS. Otherwise I don’t see the point…
Sounds like your sustain pedal may be "backwards". Does sustain release when you press the pedal? You could see if the app lets you configure the pedal mode. Or maybe you can configure it in the keyboard.
@Paulo164: the piano sounds here can be tweaked very much (pedal noise, resonances, effects, eq). The app itself has a lot of features and seems well thought out. Everything is easy to use/grasp without reading a manual. Of the 2 piano sounds I have downloaded I would say the model d is the better. My opinion is it’s a decent piano, but not a step up from what I already had. Personally If I were doing a solo piano recording I would use the ravenscroft or pure piano, but I would use this in another setting, like an ‘icing on the cake’ layer it would shine. I like it’s top range sound. There are many more libraries I have not tried yet, so I can’t comment on them yet.
@uncledave: No it just keeps sustaining. The same pedal works correctly when using this app with the smaller nektar controller which just uses a basic usb to lightning cable. I have tried two different pedals, same problem. With no pedal hooked up it sustains. I haven’t had this problem with any other midi apps using this same keyboard and Mio MIDI interface. I’m using an authentic CCK to go from USB to lightning. I’m going use it with another keyboard later today and see what happens. Not blaming the app yet. I may be doing something wrong that I don’t see yet.
@Dav Hmmm. Sustain is just CC64, value ≥ 64 for On, otherwise Off. Could it be that your keyboard sends a CC64 for some reason? We tend to think of sustain as a pedal that must be held, but of course in MIDI it's just one Sustain On message at the start, and one Sustain Off message at the end. So you're looking for a single message after the synth has connected. You could check by loading the free MIDI Wrench app.
Edit: Have you tried the original Korg damper pedal that came with the keyboard? They may be doing something special there.
@Dav : use a midi monitor app or plug in to see what cc and value is sent when using the problem sustain pedal
@Dav I wonder if the problem is with Note Off messages, rather than the actual Sustain message. The normal Note Off is (8N nn 00), where N is the channel, nn is the MIDI note number, all values hexadecimal. But some keyboards use Note On with zero velocity (9N nn 00) for Note Off. This is recognized by MIDI. But I wonder if this app may not be handling it correctly. Use a MIDI monitor to see what the keyboard sends for Note Off. If it's sending Note On with velocity zero, you should let the dev know. Meantime, you could work around it with some very minimal scripting.
@uncledave & @espiegel123: Thank you both for you midi suggestions. I downloaded a couple midi monitor apps (midi scope, midi wrench) and don’t see any unusual messages, but I’m not sure I understand how to see those pedal values. I see notes on/off messages and velocity settings. Using the pedal shows no change in those messages. I have tried it with the original Korg pedal, still constant sustain.
You are looking to see what message is sent when you press the pedal and release the pedal. You can do that without playing any notes.
Ah, ok.
Using MIDI Wrench I get ‘(CC) ch=1 controller=64 value=127’ when pressing the pedal, and then a value=0 when releasing it.
Using MIDI Scope I get this. ‘Hold Pedal [cc#:64 value:127]’ when pressing it, and then ‘value:0’ when releasing it. It also has the hex values shown too: $B0 $40 $7F, $B0 $40 $00
