Red Rock Sound releases CL1 Compressor-Limiter
Red Rock Sound CL1 is stereo and mono audio signal dynamic range compressor. CL1 compressor has distinctive sound allowing its usage not only for technical purpose of dynamic range compression but also for artistic sound coloration, which happens due to usage of saturation with even harmonics, dithering that gives effect of «air» and oversampling with non-linear phase response that gives effect of «depth».
CL1 compressor besides main dynamic range compression module also contains limiting module («limiter»), which allows controlling peaks passing through the compressor, mid-range equalizer module doing ISO-226 curves equalization and input signal or gain reduction VU-meter with lamp indicator for limiter operation control. CL1 compressor has adjustable high-pass filter for side-chain signal, also supports «parallel» compression and M/S operational mode.

Cool! Which compressor is this plugin emulating?
It emulates how analog compressors work, but it does not emulate any specific compressor.
Here, the RRS Comp 609 comes first in every guitar fx chain so how could I not buy this new (old) one? Can’t wait to try it later.
Well that's an easy $5 spent. 😎
Red Rock is really an impressive developer, focused on vintage gear reproduction. I hope they (he?) would also develop fx, like vintage delays. I know we have a lot of delays on iOS, but nothing will beat the Roland RE-201 reproduction ‘Outer Space’ from Audiothing I have on my Mac. Or an Echorec!
The App Store description says "Soviet Compressor". Surely it must be emulating some sort of hardware. What does "Soviet Compressor" mean compared to any other compressor?
Also... couldn't pick a worse time to use "Soviet" as a descriptor in any app, especially with the Ukraine situation. Just sayin'.
Yes..this is awesome 🔥🔥 This thing got presets for EVERYTHING 👀
Compressor design in the style of Soviet radio equipment.
This compressor was developed in 2012, so don't worry, there is no politics.

I hope this will be the last post regarding politics.
What is the actual effect on the audio? Does it introduce a different tone to the compressed signal?
😂🤣 Me too mate! Sick of that shit. I say save it for Facebook.
I'm a Facebook Never. Delete it if you got it.
Also, the developer is in Russia. No worries: http://redrocksound.ru
I'm going through these presets..this plugin is really well developed. Thank you!!
There are two attack modes (fast and slow), switch them and get a completely different sound, there is also a mid-frequency equalizer, twist the MID Scoop knob and get a completely different sound, also add saturation drive to get a rich sound.
Thank you too for your kind words!
I rarely use Facebook main these days. I simply use Facebook messenger to keep in touch with family and business contacts.
And this is relevant because? 🤷
.ru is out of date, redrocksound.pro is currently up to date
I don't have access to Soviet radio equipment, so I wouldn't be able to tell if it was an accurate model or not. Presumably the developer has access to or knowledge of real working equipment and its inherent properties. So, it's relevant to the accuracy of the model used in the app.
Ah now that makes sense. 🙂 Well for me, it's all about how the end result sounds.
How does it sound for you, compared to say, a Fabfilter or Toneboosters compressor?
all our plugins have a demo mode, so you can test it at any time.
Haven't played with it yet, lol. Believe it or not I just started work on an EDM track, lol.
Thank you 🙏🏻
It sounds very good to my ears, and it's a lot friendlier than [SACRILEGE!] Magic Death Eye.
And it's $5.
After using GET to download and OPEN, it starts in standalone with a drum track.
Moving knobs shows it’s got a log of EQ action along with typical compression. You can filter out highs, scoop the mids or drop the low end which is not a typical compressor design. It’s a solid compressor and need to load as an AUv3 to test sonic coloring and added saturations the drums don’t clearly outline.
Re: politics I’d like our Olympic Basketball Star back ASAP if you have any clout. We even trade an arms dealer or some accused spy or 2.
She’s a civilian that wanted to make a buck…
This is anther must have studio tool from RedRockSound. Collect the whole set. I love the hardware user interface to make me feel retro.
Pay attention to the compressor attack switch, fast and slow, slow passes more peaks, due to this the character of the sound changes.
We will be grateful to you all if you leave a review in the App Store.
Thanks in advance!
It reminds me of a free vst I used years ago on pc... was easily my favourite free comp, beating many commercial offerings 👍
If you mean Molot, then this information is listed on the product page:
CL1 developed on the basis of «МОЛОТ» compressor by Vladislav Goncharov.
Yep, that’s the one
For 10 years, we have significantly reworked it, optimized the code, improved the work. But basically it's the compressor you've been using for years:)
