You’re welcome, it has been eye opening and super liberating for me personally.
Your perspective is very interesting!
It reminds me of seeing a lot of food at once and getting full with my eyes. I can’t help but to think about USC film students making amazing movies with iPhones. It’s not the tools, it is how you use them.
+1
(as a now gray haired alumni from that very place, about to shoot a micro budget feature on iphone 13, I gotta believe!)
🤩🙌🏽👏 wowzers bullseye 🎯
Didn’t George Lucas shoot some tight shots in one of his movies with iPhones? I wanna say while filming Red Tails.
Zack snyder shot a pretty cool short film on iPhone
Talking about video shorts.
1st time filming a protest march and it was when Trump visited London for the first time.
I had my Air 2 on me so I pulled it out and filmed some of the protest.
This one was a protest march inspired by
the "gilets jaune" or "yellow vests" protests
in France using an iPhone SE.
More info in regards to the protest marches in France can be found here.

P111: „ Like collectors, GAS-affected musicians have discussion forums that fuel GAS-behaviour. Such behaviour could generally be problematic because it affirms consumption. The quote above, however, suggests that participation in such communities is motivated by pure pleasure, allowing musicians to indulge in their desires together. ”
I like this guy:
Awesome!
ha, that PDF is a goldmine! Thanks for the proofreading :-)
I almost had a relapse, I had interest in this Shiit heaphone amp that was out of stock a long time, the Magni 3+. And this morning I received an email it is back in stock. I almost bought in instantly (159,- such a small amount...), but then I thought twice, I don't need it (in fact I don't need anything anyway...).
✊🏼I feel you, nothing needed!
i think the videos where he is trying to show how to replace some HW with plugins are ridiculous and dumb.
You may be right. It's not a perfect receipe. The spirit is to buy less and trying to do more with less as you know. It's not perfect, but I like the spirit of his channel.
It changes from all the YouTubers who only say good things about the product that they receive for free.
P117:
„ Modern brand management is not about imposing ways of using goods, or behaving or thinking as a consumer. Rather, it is about proposing branded goods as tools, or building blocks whereby consumers can create their own meanings. What people pay for … is not so much the brand itself as what they can produce with it: what they can become with it … Customers are thus expected to add more or less personal dimensions to the brand, to accommodate it in their life-world, to produce something—a feeling, a personal relation, an experience—with it.„
It's dumb because his point absolutely makes no sense .. if you want use HW you use HW, if you want use DAW and plugins you use DAW and plugins .. they both are not supposed to replace each other, they are different worlds with different creative approaches ..
This is not about plain sum of features (making checkboxes of alternative features like he is doing) - he is totally missing point .. I would NEVER switch mi Digitakt / Digitone for any SW even through i would get technically more features .. but i use my HW because of creative experience i have with it.. it inspires me. The kind of experience i have with HW i i don't have with DAW, and the kind of experience i have with DAW i don't have with HW. That guy is nowhere near to understand main point for "DAWless" and why people use HW gear, even through it may be limited in some features.
His videos are like telling to F1 driver "Hey dude, F1 monopost is overpriced bullshit, you can buy luxury SUV for fraction price" .. makes no sense ? Yeah, that's it :-D
Don't know about which youtubers you are talking but the ones i follow (loopop, red means recordings, ricky tines, slow haste) are very objective and basically are reviewing things they really like (plus they mostly finance their channels from ads and from patreon). Especially Loopop always mentions also weaknesses of reviewed gear and his reviews are very in-depth so you can make very good opinion if that gear is suitable for you or it is not.
Well YouTubers will be YouTubers. I guess for this guy (and many others) it’s about finding a general premise for their videos that address a perceived gap. He must have an audience that’s acceptably large for him, or he wouldn’t keep doing it.
Maybe it pleases him to do this, and that’s fine. To me, it seems like he’s narrowed his YouTube activity into a job much like any other where a boss directs your activity.
Got to say that it leaves me unimpressed, and certainly doesn’t make me feel I can go out and buy software that will give me the feeling that I own the hardware.
