Sounds great Doug
What iPad are you using so I can have an idea of the cpu usage before buying?
@frosttrance_7 Just tried running 6 x VA Polys with Riffer in AUM hitting 50% CPU on a M1 iPad PRO 8 GB. 16% CPU if I drop it down to 1 plus Riffer.
Ok, like.. wow! This has been under the rader. It just sounds great, the real deal. Not just a digital wannabee analog, but like and great old vintage piece which has been hiding for a couple of decades in someone’s barn between spiders and dust. Rediscovered. Lots of options and fx, a bit boring to the eye so maybe easy overlooked. Thanks for the demo Doug, it’s on my list.
Hmmm, I have an iPad Air 3. I wonder if that would be more taxing.
@frosttrance_7 I’m using an iPad Pro 2020 for this demo😊You should be fine with an Air 3
@Slush Yes, I was really really impressed as soon a I played the default patch, really very nice sounding synth, great filters
What I like is the developer makes his apps available on both iOS and macOS at the same time. That's a big competitive advantage.
I love his VA Mono apps. Sounds gritty and dirty in the best way. Definitely gonna be picking this up. Highly recommend his effects apps too.
“ The low pass filter is modeled on cascaded OTA filter circuit for classic analog sound.”
This type of filter is found in the classic Roland/Juno synths, right? Sequential Prophet synths?? I wonder how it compares against Zeeon.
sounds very early 80s Doctor Who radiophonic workshop - might pick this one up![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
“Roland was a proponent of the OTA filter in its analog synth designs. Nearly all of its polyphonic synth designs from the 1980s, including the Jupiter-8 and the Juno-60, used OTA filters.”
Based on the specs, VAPoly appears to be Jupiter 8 clone: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_Jupiter-8?wprov=sfti1
Purchased, sounds awesome!
VAMono appears to be possibly based on SH-101…
But I don't think VAPoly has cross modulation.
It does!
Modulation
LFO: frequency, shape, pulse width, amplitude
Env: frequency, shape, pulse width, LFO amplitude
Xmod: frequency and shape
Ring: oscillator 1 output and oscillator 2 output
Frequency modulation mode: linear / exponential

I was wondering if the sequencer / clips work in AUv3 or only in standalone. Has anyone tested it? Thank you!
Clips and Sequencer work in AUV3, tested in AUM!
Thank you very much!
Thanks Mike. So probably a Jupiter 8 clone.
Purchased!
I didn't buy it but the sound reminded me of Tal U-no-62 (which is modeled after the Juno 60) and made me pick up this great synth again to play with it 😄
You’re welcome!
Awesome - at least based on Jupiter 8 architecture, it sounds really good!
Great clone!
From the short period of time I messed with the presets I love the analog sound.
For example (and some of you fine people might disagree with me), the Yonac synths are on sale I did some research on them and listened to a few YouTubes, and maybe not the best way to judge, but from what I hear it just doesn’t do it for me, like there’s an artificial layer over it. The VAPoly sounds so convincing, like comparing a compact disk vs a vinyl record. You can’t describe it, you know it when you hear it.
Really liking this synth. I am sounding like Holy Ghost!
Are there other RT apps worth having? VAMono looks almost bare bones but seems to have character like the SH-101. I also heard good things about his FX apps including the BBD.
Seems like OTA filter has a lot to do with analogue goodness 🤩
I own and love VA Mono. Has a very gritty/dirty sound that’s pretty unique compared to other iOS synths. Especially mono ones. Also have the reverb and delay, both of which are also great and unique sounding on iOS.
