  • No extra options is a pitta, but I’ll bet it will be great nonetheless.

  • I am very pleased with this app, it has a unique character. I made a bunch of presets in Aum and just uploaded a demo for the app, if y'all like to check:

The upcoming GS-201 (Roland Space Echo) seems to have a lot of tape quality control.

Not the iOS version - that's the desktop version.

Ah, so it's confirmed that it has reduced features? I noticed in the AUM screenshot they shared it was missing a bunch of controls:

oh wow, that‘s a HUGE bummer for me. Not sure i even want it anymore… :(

I'm guessing this is them trying to avoid hurting desktop sales, instead of technical reasons. Still, it is surely a bummer.

i think it‘s even misleading to give it the same name as the desktop version then. A LOT of features are missing if true.

Apologise for derailing the thread,i gonna stop here now…

It's based on a hw box and it seems to have the same controls, if not more. Irrelevant comparison tbh.

It‘s irrelevant to compare it with their desktop counterpart? It‘s an emulation of the RE-201,yes. But is it the „GS-201 MKII“?No,not in my opinion. It’s a lite version.Anyway…

I realized after buying this that I’ve kinda lost interest in the more vintage delays. I guess I’m just a dual digital delay/rack mount delay guy, and that’s cool with me. 1984 baybee

All these emulations sound much more lo-fi than any of my tape echoes… I would much prefer clean delay over them too.

Pretty sure I remember reading on the GSi website for VariSpeed that their version is actually cleaner than the original. Which tape echoes have you used? Maybe they are simply cleaner delays from a later time period?

The VariSpeed can sound pretty clean as long as u don't go wild with the feedback etc.

    I have 2x Klemt Echolette NG51, A Copicat and Dynacord Super 65 & 76.

They are all earlier than the IC400 Varispeed Copicat this is based on. I maintain them very well though so that may well be a factor here.

Lucky you! Nice bits of vintage kit 👍 👍

Thanks, FWIW I think these GSI echo emulations are the best to hit iOS so far. I have Lofionic Duplicat from a long time ago and Varispeed is in a different league.

  • I am more than willing to pay for extra options by IAP. To be honest, I thought the price would be set at around €25, with all the extras. But let’s face it, if we buy an original Space Echo, we get no extra options either.. We get the unit ‘as is’. And it’s a tape delay, so to get things ever more vintage if needed, a tape sim like Reelbus/Chow/Tape Pro can be brought into the chain. Extra options or not, finally we get the iconic Space Echo on iOS!

  • A tape bundle from this dev would make sense, they’re all great in their own way

Good shout - plus I've already bought the first 2 so a discount on the third would be much appreciated

(But I'll buy it anyway because I'm a delay fiend 🙄)

How can you tell from just a screenshot ?
The VST doesn‘t have the detailed controls on front panel either, you have to click to get to that screen, just as in Echo B2 ;)

It's just the missing "Edit" button and lower row with the tempo sync switch which the VST does have, and @Gavinski's comment confirming this

The test flight blurb clearly states that it doesn't have the same amount of control as the desktop Plugin. It's still very very good, but that lack of control will be a bugbear for some and I've passed that on to the dev

  • Thanks for clearing up that mystery B)

  • Also thanks for passing that along @Gavinski!

  • Someone should ask the dev if he plans on adding this functionality later on. Not that this is a deal breaker for me - I'm all in regardless - but I know that he added considerably more functionality to VB3 shortly after release. It was updated before I got a chance to release my video about it.

    Just a thought.... ;)

  • We are in, bring on the buy button.

No. Do it yourself if you really want to look foolish. It says what it does in the manual or description, take it or leave it. Its not that weird that "stuff as a service" is growing when people have this entitled mentality. What functionality could you possibly want BEFORE it's even released? I bet stupid feature requests costs or/and annoys some devs alot, funds that could make them richer and more motivated or maintain the app better.

Stuff as service?entitled mentality?Stupid feature requests? All because the reasonable expectation was, that the ios release is equal to the desktop counterpart? All good with you?

  • I’m willing to pay €10/15,- IAP for the extras, if needed. After all, we are talking about the holy grail of tape delays. But that’s all for later concern, all that matters now is that be unit itself will be great, extras are just extras.
